As long as the mob still has armor after those are applied NM will still be BiS. In trials and 4 mans, bosses have 18200 Physical Resist (Heavy armor wearers have 19600, and Light armor 16500, and some of them can cast self buffs to increase this) which even with all of the armor shreds in game, they will still have ~800 armor after, meaning NM will never not be worth running, unless you're fighting Non elite mobs with very low resistances.

    Say, why is Hunter/Camo obsolete?
I am seeing Major Savagery as a gain.

    BTW
You and Deltia have been a huge help in getting me running from the start. Thanks!

Gilliam, what are your thoughts on a good vMA setup for someone without a lot of experience? I know you addressed this a while back, but I was wondering if anything has changed now that DB has been released. My gear currently:

5 Hundings Rage or Twice Born Star (divines)
4 Nightmother's Gaze (head, shoulders, divines; 2x daggers, bow, sharpened)
3 Agility (Robust, 2 weapon damage glyphs, 1 stamina recovery)

As a khajiit, my health is awfully low without TBS, although I guess I can increase it by adjusting my attributes.

    Thanks!

I'd swap from Agility to Endurance if you're newer to vMA, more health and more stam recovery which goes a long way in there. You could also try 4 Ashen grip if you find your health to still be too low.

Yes but there's no room on our bar that could be given up without a loss.

Thanks for the updates and breakdown of your character build. I've been trying to get something together to help me get through Maelstrom.....the frozen blood is my current stumbling block. I've been using 5 hundings, 2 Molag Kena, 3 Agility, DW nitemothers, Bow nitemothers.

I went 1 precise 1 sharpened on daggers with weapon power enchants, and precise on the bow with prismatic onslaught...well anyways I'm gonna change things around a bit to include nitemothers full set over hundings.

Sadly, I've just recently discovered how good relentless focus is and the usefulness of rearming trap. I was going to switch poison injection to venom arrow for the ranged interrupt to hopefully stop the trolls from breaking platforms.

This is probably better for a pvp build, but I use Dreugh King slayer set as an additional 2/3 piece weapon dmg bonus. However the armor comes only in heavy and weapons are hard to get. But its a nice option. You can use 1 piece Kena + 3 piece Dreugh King to get 390 dmg bonus.

Searches for viable and up to date NB PVP builds with similar depth and logic like in your builds have been unsuccessful.

Could you hint at a good source of information, or maybe give a rough skill sketch of a modified Gilliam NB Stam build altered for PVP (DW 1-5+1 and Bow 1-5+1)?

Hey, brand new NB coming back to the game for the first time since beta (Dark Brotherhood is a strong lure, lol). First off, thanks for the work that went into this.

Is there any "best suggested" way to allocate my points while leveling, or a guide to that effect you can point me toward? Similarly, any "terrible, character-ruining mistakes" to avoid would help.

    Thanks

You can swap out bow to 2h for some self healing if you like solo/small man play more.

I drop stuff like trap beast/rending for utility like Mirage/Fear and Cloak. I don't PvP too much and I don't like ganking much either so I usually just run my vMA setup with more PvP focused abilities and do fine.

Just focus on putting all your points into stamina when leveling, it'll make you have to be more wary about fights so you can get better at avoiding damage at early stages of the game so you're more proficient than others when you get to end game. Pick up core skills as soon as possible, so that they're leveled and out of the way before you hit cap.

You can't really "ruin" your character anymore other than racial choices, but if you don't care about min/maxing then you should be okay with anything you want. Khajiit or Redguard is usually solid if you're making a fresh toon.

I was considering making my Khajiit Stamblade a redguard for maximum PVP benefit (I don't gank, really). But I'm sticking with Khajiit post-PTS patch notes. #khajiitmasterrace B)

Awesome, thanks. I'm guessing grab a bow the second I hit 15 and start leveling those as well? Little bit of "quest turn-in xp" trickery to make sure everything lines up?

    Thanks again for the guide.

Yeah kill stuff on your dual wield bar, turn in on your bow. Also when you start to get big AoE ultimates you can swap to your bow bar when you're killing large groups and let it just tick to kill.

I'm currently running 5 NMG and 5 Briarheart (all 160). What do you think? The Briarheart trait procs all the time for me so I have that extra 450 weapon damage as well as a minor 700 healing every time it criticals.

Glyph of weapon damage vs Glyph of absorb enchantment which is better? Also is Flanking/ Valkyn Skoria worth getting? I have the shoulders of Valkyn Skoria but they are light and it has a crappy trait but I was willing to put on just for the set and farm until I get the better traits. Or buy from the golden if we're lucky to get it soon. Also would Vigor be a better replacement for Rearm trap and I swapped Rending Slashes for Mirage for the extra resistance and dodge.

    @Gilliamtherogue

Using your set up for skills/CP (I'm about ~100 from cap), my gear is as follows:

5 piece Legendary quality Night Mother's Gaze with Legendary quality Max Stamina enchants and Divines traits. 4 piece Epic quality Hunding's Rage (placeholder until I can get helm/shoulders/Maelstrom daggers) with Epic quality Max Health enchants and Divines traits. I'm wearing Epic 160 CP Necklace and Rings of Agility, Robust neck and Healthy rings with Weapon Damage enchants. My daggers are Sharpened with one having Weapon Power enchant and the other having Crushing.

With tri-stat food I've got 29k Stam and 18k Health, all 64 points in Stamina.

All of that aside, I'm getting absolutely mullered in the new PVE content with DBH and attempting Malestrom Arena on normal is resulting in wipes on the first round. Any ideas?

@Eowyn The only form of healing this build has access to is Vigor and Soul Tether if you slot them, which are both strong enough to get you through most content while leveling and soloing (I've soloed plenty of "4 man content" with those two abilities and proper knowledge of the game and encounters, so I'd say yes leveling wise this is okay.

@Chronos9 Weapon damage glyph is much stronger, the absorb enchant equates to less than 1 recovery glyph, while the weapon damage is equal to 1 weapon damage glyph.

Flanking is alright of a choice if you can't afford agility and a monster helmet, but for solo play and uncoordinated groups its not the best choice due to forcing you into playing behind mobs.

Valkyns is definitely strong, that and Mepahala's will be the best stam DPS choices for monster helms atm. Definitely try and get a pair of each in medium Divines. I only slot Vigor if I absolutely need self heals, and you replace Rending with it, not Trap. Trap is the strongest DoT in our kit and gives minor force on top of it, it should never not be on your bar. Mirage isn't all that great unless you're PvPing or solo playing, and even then killing things before they can kill you is the route I take. Everyone has their own thing though, so do what works best for you.

@bantycakes There is no substitute for experience and player skill, the best gear and stats means nothing if you don't know how to employ it. Your stats sounds quite low, likely you aren't near CP cap which definitely helps a lot, but again won't make up for personal mistakes in rotation or reaction to combat mechanics. Unfortunately I can't really say much without seeing you play, as there are tons of possibilities of what's going wrong. Just keep practicing, one of the first things I posted in this guide was that it was not going to be easy, and a lot of practice will be required.

Hi Gilliam and thanks for this very nice build. I am new to playing a stamina NB so I am still learning how to master this build.

I have fairly decent gear and and maelstrom weapons and am doing okay inside of maelstrom arena with this build.

My question is pertaining to a video that you have on you tube using this build. I was watching it and looking at what you were doing to beat vma with this build and saw something that I am curious about.

The video is titled "Competitive Veteran Maelstrom Arena Stamina Nightblade PoV" posted on April 3, 2016.

At 8:24 and 8:26 there are two very brief times you are looking at your character stat screen and inventory and I noticed that your stamina recovery is at 0.

Given that, what skills are you getting stamina recovery with on this build? I see you are using food and drinks would show on the character stat screen, so it has to be coming from somewhere else. When watching your play in the video you recover stamina decently, but I am not sure where that is coming from. I need more stamina recovery and was hoping you could shed some light on that.

If this has been answered before then please point me in that direction. I could totally be making a noobish mistake and not considering something so please let me know what I am missing.

Thanks again for all the hard work on this build!

As you can see, this is what I was going by. Thanks for the info on Siphoning Attacks being the main source of stamina recovery.
