Login Error - 301 & Login Timeout...

    And will you look at that...no response from a name. Nothing.

    Literally, the worst CS/Tech Support I've ever encountered in any gaming company. Worst than SWTOR and that's saying A LOT.

    I played DDO for 6 years. During that time it was considered normal to have to accept a new TOS with each update. Sometimes there were addendums made to address issues Turbine encountered. Sometimes there was no change at all. But I think there must be something in legaland regarding having to redo TOS agreements with content updates. Perhaps someone more savvy would know the particulars.

    Have any of the folks with working and non-working accounts on the same machines (husband/wife teams or similar mentioned in some of these 301 error threads) spent any time combing through files to see if anything was missing or obviously larger or just generally unexpectedly different between the two sets of user files? Didn't some earlier Bethesda games (Skyrim maybe or one of the Fallouts) have an issue where a temp file or user cache or save file or something was getting too large and causing issues? Maybe something the login server is looking at is too big to swallow? The only common(ish) trait I've seen mentioned was possibly logging out poorly (crash, exit to desktop, or ctr-alt-delete)

    Don't think so. I killed my ESO installation and destroyed all the Zenimax folders before reinstalling clean. There shouldn't be a single temporary file for ESO anywhere. Still can't log in.

    And don't you think that with as many crashes as the current client has had, that the server side wouldn't be affected or it would be a noticeable corruption of the account on their side that could be easily remedied?

    It's probably a time consuming fix per account on their end that can end up broken again as soon as the user gets back in game. I imagine they are working to fix the root of the problem and rebooting server to fix problem and everyone experiencing it all at once in one fell swoop.

    Understanding this, can't say I'm not angry I cannot get into the game when I know damn well that a large chunk of the population is not experiencing this issue and can play just fine. Definitely expecting compensation.

    best customer service ever. they didn't make me do a million things again like reboot my pc and do everything i had already done twice. they actually listened when i explained everything i had done and asked for anything further i could do while we wait for techs to figure it out.

    i talked to Sean who seriously deserves a lot of credit for being both nice and well mannered in the face of the majority of people calling in so angry over this. and i'm sure he's not the only one. i have worked CSR jobs and couldn't deal with it so i know what they do and what they do 99% of people couldn't possibly handle on a daily basis---especially those of you who can't handle logging into a video game without totally losing your minds.

    we wound up talking about the game and the state of things both good and bad and in the end this is like every other mmo in that respect--its going to to face challenges like this. imo, how well they respond, how fast they answer (never waited more than a couple hours for emails), and how well they act when you act respectfully to them about your problems will keep me here. this particular log in issue might not be a problem that can be fixed instantly, or quickly, or quick enough, but it won't last forever either.

    to put it in perspective, i've lived for about 320,000 hours so far. 10 of those I couldn't log in today. not a big deal. do your own math and see how little this wait means.

    Still unable to log in on the NA server.
    Unsubbed/re-subbed but still not able to.

    I am, however, able to play just fine and dandy on the EU server.
    I'd rather be playing on my MAIN that I was leveling of course, but I guess.... at least it's something. *shrugs*

    I'm on day two-three now.

    I was having this issue as well and it stopped happening once i stopped using a couple addons that were out-of-date. Upgraded the rest and stopped using old ones. Also repaired the game and no more issues.

    @Akuydab14_ESO: Yes, because nerds are known for their level heads, promoting positivity, and keeping a calm head in the face of adversity. Thank you for restoring some of the humanity to the conversation, good sir, with your well played "Nerd."

    Seriously tho, just checked back to look for answers. Bummed there are none, but the emails and phone calls still say this is priority 1 on ESO's end--which is good enough for me. I'll check back later after a bike ride and some shopping (some good getting-out-the-house everyone needs to do occasionally).

    Well, if a test of mine is successful, I think we can point to one of the issues with the login.

    So far: uninstalled, deleted all associated folders, reinstalled. No addons. Complete temporary folder wipe, zapped my virtual memory, disabled antivirus and firewall, flushed my DNS cache, pretty much anything client-side that could be related to a login issue.

    Checked the launcher files on my son's working client and saw no obvious
    differences. The problem is with the login server

    I only got a few minutes, but my neighbor just got me outside about his boy having the 301 issue.

    I resolved it by using port triggering on his router. I think its a Nat issue which makes sense.

    UpNP don't work for this game as far as I can tell. Port forwarding is not really ideal as that's meant for hosting services such as web sites, mail servers, etc...port forwarding will work, its just not ideal.

    anyways I set up the port triggers, rebooted the router, power cycled the modem, rebooted the PC and the 301 error is gone.

    I have used port triggering since laugh and haven't had any major connection issues. However I'm not saying other folks don't. It may be possible its account related, but setting up port triggering will rule out any NAT issues and it may solve the problem for some people.

    I was actually just playing the game, which was working fine, and then CTD'd. Could not log in after that with the 301. Pretty sure its not a port issue on my side if one second it was working, the next it isnt.

    I hope they get it fixed soon because .... I mean, I am missing some serious research time here people!

    Quick! Someone release the details of some malicious dupe so they'll be forced to take the servers down for a hotfix and we'll all be able to get back in once it reboots!

    Seriously, though.. reboot the damn server Zenimax. :p

    5 hours? 11 hours? 1 day? Seriously? I've been having this issue since f*cking friday. And they STILL haven't taken the server down, or did absolutely ANYTHING to attend to this issue, apart from giving lame FAQ's and trying to transfer the blame from their end to ours, when its all on their end. Absolutely ridiculous!

    Great. Mods don't bother talking to us or even saying they know this bug is happening (it has been solemnly ignored by every official communication and still doesn't show up in the "known issues" thread), but to edit out flaming, they are very efficient!
