We set this up specific for shows, such as E3, so we can get small groups working together for a quick PvP-style match.
While it’s a small taste of what our massive PvP is like in the live game, we thought it would be a fun way for folks to fight with / against each other with the limited amount of time they have at shows like this.
This mode isn't in the live game, as it’s something we specifically setup for small, quick matches. However, ESO is a living, ever-evolving game, and if we see lots of requests for smaller style PvP combat, it could be something we add in a later update.
This really blows my mind. Has am arena PvP mode at e3 but denies that it will exist in game. HOW MANY PEOPLE DO WE NEED? Maybe I should start a petition. Or better yet, Zenimax do it???

Arenas were in Elder Scrolls before so it would be fun to have smaller gladiator games that you are only allowed to participate in if you own the imperial city. BGs could also be to capture extra resources that help out in Cyrodiil that you do not find on the normal battlefield. Everything can be somehow tied to RvR but still give people options to do other things besides zerg keeps but still keep the focus on Cyrodiil combat.
Didn't they already say they are adding the highest game content to be inside the Imperial city? They could add the arena only for those who own the city as something fun to do but not make it a main part of PvP. I understand the game isn't built around 1v1 or small scale but the best way to improve your skills is through 1v1 or small scale since it's easier to understand what is going on and how to avoid/counter certain situations.

I love this part!!! Yes Even Blizzard Devs did a total facepalm on the destruction they did with Arenas being added. They openly admit and post it.
This is not wow. It does not have battlegrounds out the ass. It does not have a million game modes. Arenas is One game mode. This will Not break cyrodil

Because it's going to kill balance in every other area of the game. I really, really, really hope this isn't happening any time soon. And if it does happen, I really, really, really, really, really, really, really hope that they don't make any balance changes based on arena performance.

Battlegrounds were just as bad(Once they were allowed to be Que from safe cities), it put OWPVP to a halt.
As for "This is not wow." I hope this stays true for a very very very long time.
This is ESO, we have a huge PVP zone called Cyrodil which is a playground for any type of PVP play styles. But here is a twist to that... its up to the Players to create the PvP not a system to spoon feed the player with activity.

Well , it seems there is still some hope for zen devs. Ty for the link.
Anyway , i hope they understand , adding arenas in this game would be a BAD idea , it is too poorly balanced right now.
In an year or more when the game can finally be balanced , then they can discuss this.
The best way to implement arenas would be to divide the skills so that they would not work the same in the arenas , this way the balance is divided and it wont affect the rest of the game.

I personally came to ESO because of the 3 faction open world combat, that was the selling point for me on this MMO. This is a guy who has played ES games since Morrowind and loves them and holds them close to heart. I'm here for the pvp, when it comes to MMO's I want good, balanced, and fun pvp. I'm not getting that here in ESO. I'm not here for the single player pve, lore, etc. I'm here to kill players in open world combat. There are many pvp'ers who are here for the open world. Anything you do to detract from that will only lead to disaster and cancellation of subs from that player base. There are many who want WoW'esque battlegrounds, etc. If those players are who you are trying to attract you will lose the other type of pvp player who doesn't want that in their game at all.
This is the kind of stuff in Cyrodiil I would like to see them work on. Different styles of game play within the Cyrodiil area. Even mini versions of what they already have like scrolls (which is really just capture the flag). Have random objectives that pop up between factions that everybody rushes for.bandage106rwb17_ESO wrote: »So a "better" use of resources? No, not really. You have to understand this lag comes from the sheer amount of people. Sure it could use more optimization but unless you have a crazy super computer you will see little improvement in performance. These people are also connecting from all around the world. Connections will not always be perfect. Before you go blame the game or their network make sure you are not on a *** computer.

I dont see anything wrong with adding a PvP area as long as it doesn't affect PvE , EQ had a PvP area when they brought in the Bazzar but not many players used it ...shrug... I found it quite boring actually...
I like this idea honestly. Personally, I've tried PVP about a dozen times and each time I'm alone and rarely encounter an enemy alliance. When I do it becomes a zerg fest and I'm slaughtered before my rig can process what happened. I think arena PVP is a good start. In truth, I'd also like to see open world open zone PVP as well for players of all levels. I often just wonder through Cyrodiil with no player interaction. Again, this is an additional option for PVPers not a replacement for Cyrodiil. I never understood why ppl would mind an additional feature if it's not impacting their play style. Some will PVP in arenas as their preference, others will PVP in Cyrodiil with the same intent.

Going to unsub once they confirm this. Bye bye cyrodil it was nice knowing you for couple month heh
Wahhhhhhhhhhhhh going to unsubscribe if they add something to the game wahhhhhhhhhh and learn how to spell, Cyrodiil ... apparently you don't play it enough anyway if you can't even spell what the heck you are loading into. XD
Those who want to play in Cyrodiil for a completely different experience than Arena, will be able to do so. I will be playing both if this is actually being implemented.
@ Zxaxz lol are you dense or something? Why does OWPVP die in these games? .... Because the player made a choice!!! Rather, the masses made a choice! If OWPVP dies as a result of Arenas, then OWPVP wasn't great enough to sustain itself or the player wouldn't have opted out of it to begin with!
Go somewhere else where you like the idea of ppl making your own decisions for you.

Can't get any worse than it already is. Everyone and their mother is wearing dresses and using staves.
Ruze is a veteran of the PC Beta, lived through the year one drought, survived the buy-to-play conversion, and has stepped foot in the hells known as Craglorn. He mained a nightlbade when nightblades weren't good, and has never worn a robe. He converted from PC during the console betas, and hasn't regretted it a moment since.
He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.
I just want PvE arena like in Oblivion. I want to battle some Minotaur Lords while other players sit around and bet on how many I can defeat before falling. Maybe even add some quests around it, possibly a gladiator skill line.
I'd also love a PvP type arena for your faction, but the rewards are based on player wagering their own money. If you feel like you can beat me(or my group) in combat, we'll settle it in the arena, and put your money where your mouth is.
None of this, structured PVP arena nonsense with rewards and queues. It should be a social thing to help train our factions warriors.
....These are to be 3v3 pre formed or such arena, if they had an EQ style arena it would be nice but as a lot of others have stated i won't resub if this stuff comes in, if i wanted arena pvp i could go play wow or some other juvenile mentality populated mmo.
I enjoy open world pvp and with an arena system in there it would already detract from what we have now. If they had just taken a note from how DAoC did it with the tiered pvp areas it would have worked out a lot better.

How in the world would it detract form anything? Everyone who cries for them not to add arena seem to assume they will somehow force you to participate in the arena. If you don't enjoy it, don't participate in it, simple as that. I don't enjoy massive zergfests like what Cyrodiil is, so I don't participate in it.
I like small scale arena and battleground type PvP, but you don't hear me, nor people who share my opinion, crying for them to remove Cyrodiil from the game.
We understand that if we don't like it, we don't have to participate in it, and we can still enjoy the rest of the game.
