I know many don't agree, but I sure do. ESO is catering to the WoW fans at every turn. RvR in DAOC was epic because it was the reason you played...you wanted to hit level cap & fight for your realm with a sense of community & pride. When you start adding in things like instanced small group arena-style PvP, it bastardizes what should be an already great PvP system. It's ridiculous to me that MMO gamers say they don't want a clone of WoW or GW2, but virtually every single requested feature comes from those games.

I doubt that will happen, people will throw a tantrum if they don't get adequate or superior rewards for their time. It will require new gear and balancing that will bring about ragnarok.

I hope it's a PVE arena that I can grind through levels VR1-10 in order to avoid other factions.

But my gut is telling me it's a 'WoW clone' love fest. It makes me wonder, while we were all playing through Skyrim thinking about how cool it would be to play an MMO like that. ZaniMax were holding office tournaments on World Of Warcraft thinking how cool it would be if WoW had TES lore. What the hell were Bethesda doing? Probably hiding in a box hoping it is not them that has to give the press conference about why they copied an ancient game. Next up... Ping Pong!

I can't complain, as I defended the idea of an Arena, but if it's like the WoW model that will be me done with ESO as well, not because I think badly of the WoW arena but because it will show that they don't give a flying *** about there players. I say If because I hope it is not true, or at least misunderstood.

why add arena to this game? if i want arena i will back to WoW or play MOBA game like Dota or LoL. This game pvp should focus on open world pvp not small scale.

Pvpers go to the low hanging fruit on the tree, the path of least resistance. It will kill off cyrodil

It was already explained, numerous times... They would have to balance around it and that balancing would hurt cyrodil pvp and regular pve.

Agreed, but I'll bet my mother's egg-tooth that if arena is introduced in any form or fashion, it will include rankings & rewards. Why? Because the whiners that influence the introduction of such a feature in the first place will demand it. It is unreasonable to think they would cave-in to only part of such a demand.

Like I eluded to before, DAOC's RvR was epic for one main reason & that is because we were all there for the same purpose. It wasn't a tacked on system that only a small portion of the playerbase participated in. It was the reason you played. Nobody in their right mind played DAOC with the intent of "end-game PvE" or some ridiculous instanced small team PvP. I understand that you have to cater to the PvE crowd somewhat to have enough subscribers to support a game of this scale, but the PvP portion should not be split in any fashion.

I don't see Cyrodiil to be dead today. More than enough gank options on EU server for me to have fun still. Everybody who defends battleground aka arena with gear rewards, you will definitely regret that in a couple of month after released. There is no need to explain why. You could aswell use forum's search with "arena" or "battlegrounds" entry to find out. To keep this polite, short, don't tell me it won't get dull after you joined the same 15 minutes map for the 2657 time. I do not even want to start the pug vs premade thing here. However, from what I recall, ZOS have said so far that they think about same-faction-1vs1. Thats it. If ZOS will go for something like gear rewarding, queued 4vs4 battlegrounds, and despite the fact you and me like battlegrounds as such, it definitely will thin out some lines in Cyrodiil. It will thin out too much for the long run. I do not want that to happen! This is like ... logical?

^This. Arena's will force everything around it to be changed according to it.

Rework Cyrodiil if you have to. Divide it up in a couple of smaller area's with objective based gamplay. Anything is better than throwing 6 ppl into a circular pit and balancing the entire game around it.

Eso isnt the game for this kinda stuff. If they wanted arena's they shouldnt have designed the class/skill/weapon systems like they did.

It will be a knee-jerk landslide downhill while ZOS tries patch things up with crude "resilience" mechanics and other stuff to bridge the gaps they themselves have created with the actual design.

How about you focus on what you already have and make it work instead.
There's tons of stuff that can be done before anything like arena even needs to be considered.

The benefits do not outweigh the costs in ESO.

Good old ZOS, still only listening to the MMO base while the TES players get screwed.

Ironically TES plauers are probably easier to please whereas MMO folks seem to always want a feature like <insert name of one of the many other mmos the played for a few before leaving>.

TES players have been around for up to 20 years, might be worth showing us some love before DA3 hits...

All I want from ZOS is promised pre vet campaign (confirmed) and ability to turn off XP gain. Non vets are all scaled to same level, which will make it the best PvP experience. It won't be possible to make Twink, as you will still have the same stats like fresh boosted level 10. This is what I love. No higher level or gear harasment in PvP.

This is an optional part of the game and does not touch my experience... so I don´t care.

I love Cyrodiil and I would not go into any Arena!
But I would never try to forbid others to do that!

It is "strange" that some people threaten to leave because of that...
This is like the PvP crowd would threaten to leave because some new Quest that has NOTHING to do with PvP at all...

Rift introduced that kind of arena... ranked 5on5s. No rewards just for the ppl who enjoyed the competition. They disabled the feature after a few months as noone was participating.

So far all we know is that some random person posted some very low quality pictures on reddit and claimed it was 3v3 arena in ESO on E3. I fear he is not lying or they would have debunked it by now, unless they are just slow as they often are. I hope though that we can get an official comment about this.
