I think it would be divine if there was an option to controle from who you can receive mails ingame.(pretty much like how you can controle which channels you see in chat)
There might be a few exceptions, like messages from a gamemaster, bought and sold guildstore items will always be deliverd to the mailbox.(but for the rest any other unwanted inbox messages will be blocked away)

A few checkboxes for "who I want to receive ingame mails from:"

x Guildmembers
x friends
right click name in chat of player you want to bargain with:"grant temporary bargaining rights"..if you don't know the player but would like to trade.

Its not nice when you think you sold something on the guildstore, just to discover its another goldspam message
Perhaps any 'unwanted' messages that got sended and blocked from your inbox could pass the investigation team instead.
Or if they contain a few keywords like "gold" "k" "motif" "selling" "most trusted" "www.com"

That is a game of chasing your own tail, while you can sort out the word gold, you also have to take g0ld, go1d, g01d into account and your messages wouldn't even have posted if you add a single letter as a filter condition.

I've adjusted my autoignore addon to the point where zone chat is very quite, but it also takes out things that are not spam. Problem with playing whack'a'mole with gold spammers is that they just have to adjust their message a little bit and nothing was won.

ZOS has to come up with a solution to the bots and hacks before I see the gold spam going away.

ofcourse, based on reports the list the filter recognizes should be updated..so all the variants will be detected as well like g0ld and go1d,..,...If they discover a new way of writing in a report they add it to the filter word list or something...
It will always be an ongoing battle, like an anti virus program that constantly requires updates probably.
But if it is always up to do date the messages from goldsellers will be traced fast within all the unwanted auto blocked messages
I think a mail traffic filter that gives players the contole of who they want to receive mails from would result in much more enjoyable experience too
At least I wouldn't want to receive unwanted mails from random people anyway.Just from my friends and guildmembers would be nice.

Perhaps there should be a few more checkboxes for who you'd like to receive mails from than "guildmembers" and 'friends"
