Upgraded with tokens. But did I get it right? Premium+bonus only gives one costume? Mounts and personality seems to be in regular premium tier. Definitely won't be buying +bonus version in the future if it is like that.

Yeah, the "+Bonus" part of the max tier gives only:

-the one costume (which can't be acquired any other way)
-two caches of 2,000 Tome Points, to be opened whenever you like (any season)

The regular Premium tier alone gets you access to the entire Premium track, though you still have to work to open the pages and earn the TP to get all the things (except Monster Slayer).

One issue with using tokens is that you can't use them just on the Premium tier. When you use them, you get the Premium+Bonus for that Tome. There's no way to use fewer just to get the regular Premium tier.

You could save them for a season where you like the bonus instant-unlock cosmetic and want the caches, though.

I bought Premium and feel it is worth $5 a month for the season. If someone feels it isn't worth it, it would make sense to not purchase. The price seems fair to me. Premium + bonus didn't feel like a good value since I think the costume is fairly ugly.

Nope, didn't want anything this season.

I'm not against buying a season, but it has to have something that is VERY enticing for me to get it.

The personality comes close but since it puts a generic item on you that doesn't fit my character's it's a skip.

Yeah same for me: if the personality used your character's weapon, I would've gotten the upgrade for that alone.

The only things I want are the seals, furnishings, Kireth motif, and trade bars; conveniently all in the free version.

I haven't purchased it yet, but that doesn't mean I won't. In the past, I always purchased the "digital collectors" version of every DLC or chapter, and even pre-purchased them if that option were available, in order to get all of the extra items. But now that (AFAIK) there are no extra items for pre-purchasing, there's no immediate rush to decide on whether to purchase or not. I need to examine all of the extras in detail to decide whether I want to purchase outright, especially since there's also the option to upgrade the free tome using tome points. I'm still coming to grips with learning how the new system works.

An option to upgrade with Tome points?

Those are on the free track, just fyi. Getting Premium will not help you get them. Getting Premium+Bonus will only help by giving you 2 caches of 2k Tome Points to get there faster (but be careful not to open too many too soon, as only 2,000 points carry over to next season).

Yes, that's it. I'm still learning the terms and how things work. For instance, I think I remember hearing them say (back during the initial reveals a few months ago) that we can upgrade only one tome a year using the premium tome tokens, or did I hear wrong? I'm reluctant to choose an option until I understand what all of my options are and whether my choice might have an impact down the line in some way.

So it costs 12 Premium Tome Tokens to get the Premium+Bonus tier for one Tome. In that sense, it takes the equivalent of one full year's worth of tokens. On average, most people who sub will be able to get one max tier Tome free per year that way.

But I haven't heard anything about an artificial limit on spending the tokens you've acquired, so I'm unsure if you could not, say, stock up on tokens and spend 24 in one year to get two different tomes that year. If so, I'm also unclear on whether said limit would be within one calendar year or within 12 consecutive months.

I'll have a look around for further info. I'm curious now.

ZOS said that you would be able to get one free Premium+ Tome for every 12 months subscribed to ESO Plus. You can pay for the Premium Plus upgrade even after you've bought the regular Premium Tome, though I'm not sure if you can upgrade after the Season ends.

I used 12 tokens to buy the premium+. I wanted to see what the full experience was like so I could decide if I'd ever want to pay real $$ for them.

I've decided that I'll probably buy the premium ones. The "+bonus" will depend on what the additional items are.

I bought the Premium (no bonus; the bang-for-buck just isn't there, IMO). I'm willing to give ZOS a fair chance with the Tome and see how it plays out over the next couple of months. My annual ESO budget already included what I'd previously needed to spend on an annual upgrade, so the cost difference is close enough to zero that it's not worth quibbling over.

That said, there honestly isn't a whole bunch in the Premium reward tier that's providing $15 worth of value. Keep in mind that I've been playing for about five years, so all of my characters are 9-trait crafters, they've discovered wayshrines, they've completed their mount upgrades, they've maxed out all eight companions and received their mementos, and so forth. Most of the Premium rewards are more suited to players who haven't done those things and most of the rest of the useful stuff is in the free tier.

Should I ever get around to making a new character (possible, but it's not on the to-do list anytime soon), then being able to go back and buy some of those things could be a nice thing. Except for the problem that I'm going to lose any points in excess of 2K when the next Tome rolls around.

The idea of the Tomes is nice, but the devil, as they say, is in the details and the details are still very much in the "needs work" category.
I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

I've been here since beta. Pre-ordered the Collector's Edition of every single real-money major release, including the 2025 Content Pass despite not being entirely on board with ESO's announced new direction then. I'm keeping my ESO+, which has been an active subscription since the very beginning.

This is the first time in all those years that I have not purchased any version, top-tier or not, of ZOS's new content. And that turns out to have been the right move. The more I learn about the new Tomes system, the further I'm pushed away from wanting to engage in it, from the expiring points, to the bugged rewards they're expecting people to pay real money for, to the bugged challenges, to the stupidly random challenge selection and unfair point counts on rerolls, etc., etc., etc.

There's also just nothing I want. After all these years, I'm sitting on literally HUNDREDS of cosmetics and hours of playable content, some of which I haven't touched yet. I'm not even going to be actively farming Tome Points. What I get through normal gameplay will be carried over to the new season with ideally no input from me. If it's significantly over 2,000, I'll probably snag some bars of gold-pressed latinum Trade Bars or Seals to top me off and bring the carryover points below cap. But only because it would annoy me to lose something I darn well earned.

I understand this is all an experiment for ZOS right now. I'm open to engaging with the system if ZOS gets their ZISS ziss together and turns it into something I feel holds a real benefit for me to jump in. I was actually okay with the end of daily endeavors and daily login rewards...just don't get the impression ZOS hit the mark with their replacement. (Weekly endeavors I didn't mind too much because I didn't feel pushed to log in daily; I do still log in every day, but I like that it feels more on my own terms. The weekly/seasonal aspect of Tomes? I'm pretty fine with that!)

I thought for the price, the value was there. 15 dollars for a pillion mount is unheard of. I also liked the mesa stalker outfit pieces and the vanos weapons. I didn't mind the night/day wolf mount. I think it's a cool idea, but I only ride pillion mounts because I like giving my friends rides. Some of the premium consumables are fine, like riding lessons. I have one character left who is training their horses. The major experience commendations bothered me a bit, since all my companions are maxed out. The currencies make me wonder, uncomfortably, what the conversion rate of tome points would be to other currencies, such as how much gold does a single tome point amount to. I don't think a battle pass holds up well to that kind of scrutiny. Crown poisons and crown refreshing drinks in the paid tier, I admit, spark an ugly feeling inside of me. I feel contempt for people who say some dev decision or another is a "Slap in the face," because it's not and never will be. But I do have questions about the thought and motivation that went into putting items so worthless as crown poisons and crown refreshing drinks into a 15 dollar purchase. They know players delete those items as soon as they get them. They know the only players that don't are new players who don't know they are better off literally not using those items at all. Poisons are inferior to enchantments. Not only should they not be stuffed into a 15 dollar purchase, they really shouldn't even be in the game.

Is this why some of the tome rewards are locked, even one that costs 0?

You’re missing one tab in your poll. I want to buy it, I really do, but I don’t have a clue what I’ll be buying. On top of that, players end up helping each other, because no one from the team comes in with clear answers.

I understand there are a lot of questions from players, and it must be a lot of work for the team to reply to all of them. But still… they created this mess again, not the players.
:: [Guild: Tamriel Order] :: Exclusively for players using One‑Bar / HA builds, or items like Rakkhat's Voidmantle or Oakensoul Ring
    About Us

*** This guild is exclusively for players who prefer alternative playstyles such as Onebar builds, Heavy Attack builds (HA), or using items like Rakkhat's Voidmantle or Oakensoul Ring. ***
    • Do you ever feel discouraged when you see “no HA players” or “no Oakensoul players” in Group Finder?
    • Do you avoid joining groups because you're worried about being judged or kicked?
Then this is exactly where you belong.

*** We are building a group of players who simply want to enjoy the game, learn mechanics at their own pace, and improve naturally over time.
No pressure, no strict meta requirements, no 120k parses — just steady progress and clear understanding of mechanics.

    Our goal is simple:
First we learn → then we become consistent → then we get faster → and when the group truly feels ready, we push into Hard Modes together.

    *** Minimum requirement: CP800.
This ensures everyone has the baseline stats needed for HM content and helps us maintain a strong, capable team.

*** We value teamwork, respect, patience, and a positive attitude above all else.
Everyone is here to improve — no ego, no toxicity.

If you're looking for a guild where you can grow, feel comfortable, and still clear some of the hardest content ESO has to offer, this is your place.

    Recruitment Headline

*** In this guild, we don’t care if you parse 70k less or 200k more than others.
We don’t care about numbers at all — what matters is handling mechanics:
exploding curses outside the group in vRG, swapping mirrors, doing assignments correctly, and keeping runs clean.

By around CP800, any player can reach ~60–70k DPS baseline, and that’s enough to complete almost any trial HM.
For trifectas, yes, we push DPS because of timers — but for Hard Modes, we take our time without pressure.
If you can handle mechanics, you’re welcome here. ***

    Why this?
I allways run GF to help others since I already have all trial items. But, I noticed: most groups are full of 2bar players doing lowers DPS then 1bar players, and RD keep gatekeeping 1bar players for no reason at all.
It made me realize I’ve been spending my time helping the wrong players. 2bar players don’t need my help, 1bar players need.

    No I didn’t and I don’t plan to.

I only pay for gameplay, but since that will be free going forward ESO is now in my ‘free to play’ games list. So other players are financing the game and upcoming content for me. So thank you to the people who do buy passes and crates.

I also wonder if they have a backup plan for if this system fails and doesn’t bring in enough money. They can’t change monetisation model for a 3rd time in 2 years. And there is no going back to big style chapter content drops without a long content drought because they changed their whole development pipelines for short term content drops.

I needed a duo mount + I like the dwarven spider mounts so since I was gonna get the pass anyway I just grabbed the plus pass so I could get a duo dwarven spider mount cheaper (and quicker) than the standalone crownstore ones

Honestly multiple mounts+personality make it a solid value if you can get everything (when compared to the crown/real world money cost these have when available in the store individually) but going forward the pass will definitely need to have an "I NEED THAT" level of collectable for me to get the paid version

This was me, too. I don't like the costume enough to have bought it just for that, but I did want the monster hunter personality, which was with the mounts. For all of that, it seemed a good deal to buy the bonus, so I can't say I was happy about doing it when I got here and realized I could have just bought the cheaper one.

It would be hard to imagine what rewards would entice me to buy it or even to try and understand properly what's going on. I think it is incredibly badly done, it looks like a money-grab to me, reinforced by the incredible arrogance of the stream presenters. So no ESO+, no battlepass, and omg... how am I going to cope with all these currencies other than just by ignoring them?

I'm kinda old-fashioned I guess. I want to know what I'm getting for my money. I'll buy a new zone. I'll buy a new story. But meaningless rewards? I'm not a 13-year old boy, I have a very different set of priorities.

Yeah, they need to beef up the premium rewards a little. I was confused at first and thought the premium rewards were at the bottom of the page (under the word premium), and only realized later that they're actually at the top within the orange frame. I think I got it backwards at first because I was looking at the rewards and saw junk at the top. For sure, stuff like poisons and drinks shouldn't be at the premium tier.

That’s the name of the model that stuck. While Valve invented the model in 2013 with their Compendium for Dota 2, the name that became more famous was their Battle Pass from 2016.

In ESO this is not called Battle Pass, just a battle pass (lowercase, generic term for the model). Here it is called the Tamriel Tome.
