Make Armory slots account-wide

With the changes allowing in UI skills respec for free, the armory is only usefull with changing out werewolf/vamp and mondus stone. I would have bought many of them if they was account wide. But 1200 for an "outfit" slot is just not useful. I am planning on doing more builds on my main and using addons to manage the changes.

It's useful for swapping subclass skills and gear as well. I don't enjoy spending 10+ minutes every time I want to swap builds or gear.

Add-ons can already swap your gear faster than the armory (including in places where the armory is not accessible), and they should be able to take on subclassing Monday — without a limit as to the number of build slots available.

As of Monday, functionality exclusive to the armory will be reduced to curses, mundus, and free CP reinvestments.

So which add-ons have been updated for this new functionality? The add-ons I'm using for gear swap haven't been updated since 2022.

I use Wizard’s Wardrobe, which was updated January 29 (of this year), so I know there’s at least one such add-on being actively maintained that will hopefully get this new functionally sooner rather than later.

Code updated “Dressing Room 2018” in 2024 for Scribing, so perhaps we’ll see more than one update.

I know Alpha Gear 2 got an update for Scribing that was linked in its comments on esoui, but I don’t know that it was ever incorporated into the add-on officially. There may be another unofficial update for this next patch. The only experience I have with Alpha Gear is not great, unfortunately. Our tank had it fail on him repeatedly during resets for GS, which sank those runs. I see similar comments online. I regret that’s the only experience I have, as I know a lot of people use it.

Since I use these add-ons to swap skills and CP as well as gear, I don’t have a separate one just for gear. I’d prefer to have all the setups switch together rather than have add-ons trying to compete to switch things at the same time. I also found that the more up-to-date ones included more functionality. And while Wizard’s, and I think others too, offers the ability to swap CP and food and skills as well as gear, I know you can also use Wizard’s just to swap gear, if that’s what you prefer. Wizard’s also has the option to auto repair armor and auto recharge weapons, plus I think a few other things I’m not able to check at the moment since I’m not in game.

I see there are newer gear add-on "Caro's Skill Point Saver" but haven't heard anyone talking about it. I use AlphaGear 2 along with AlphaStyle and I've never had a problem- unlike what you described. Per your comment, I did search and found someone posted a scribing update for AlphaGear 2 that I installed- we'll see how that works once I get into the game.

I use Jack of All Trades for my CP auto-swap, AlphaGear 2 for my gear swaps, AlphaStyle for appearance changes, and the Armory for major build swaps.

Maybe not on the forums, but people I play with have heard me say on more than one occasion, "Have you heard of our lord and savior Caro's Skill Point Saver?"

Not for gear, but for skills/attributes/CP. I use it for respecs, and it's superior than armory because it allows me to do things like copy-and-paste builds between characters (even across accounts and servers).

Just commenting on this thread instead of making a new one. I would really like to see account wide armory slots. Maybe make them more expensive. But now that outfit slots are account wide it feels even worse to buy armory slots for a single character for *1500* crowns.

I would definitely agree with account-wide armory slots. Given the precedent set by outfit slots and the significant reduction in value for each armory slot (since we can now respec attributes and skill morphs for free and faster with add-ons), I wouldn’t want to see the price increase.

There's a very good reason I have never bought an armory slot: I'm not spending 15 euros on one character that might end up never using it because another character suddenly gets more play. I don't have a main. I like my DK, but my necro tank gets more play, because, well, tank. I have other characters that I would maybe try more roles on, or different builds, or something. Account-wide would make this more viable for me, but until then, I'll keep my money. I have very thick pockets that don't have holes burned in them easily.

When outfit slots were introduced, I would have bought some account-wide ones. They are account-wide now, but it's been so long I've forgotten why I wanted that. Maybe I need more Ginko Biloba.
