I am now officially a hypocrite thanks to the Orsinium crates

I have often complained about the flash-bang exploding mounts being too much, but ZOS has finally made a hypocrite out of me.

I purchased the Forgefire Blade Lion mount with seals (thanks for the 8000 earlier this month!) because it is a really nice looking mount while riding it. The mount up animation is a bit much, but I will have to live with it. At least the sound isn’t terribly loud.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The issue is not the mounts. It's that there's no way not to see everyone else's. Flashy stuff is a mainstay of clubs, casinos, holiday display, etc for a reason. People enjoy it but in low doses. Your own mount being flashy is nice. Mounts exploding everywhere around you, not as much for some people.

I am tempted by Puncturing Strike new style but I would have preferred if it simply had the colour of the doves and said doves... All those other colors that make it "rainbow-like" seem a bit too much.
Preview is also kinda broken, so it would be risky.

These have to be the biggest scam crates I’ve ever purchased. Got nothing of which that I wanted, and TONS of paper housing items that I will never use.

How is it okay to have boxes open with NO collectibles? Half of my crates had nothing permanent to even add to my account?

Guess the gems weren’t bad, but they have never been 1-1 on return versus cost… ☹️

The trail doesn’t stay permanently after roaring but I got it anyway lol, looks good with my dk, and when do happen to pve on occasion that build uses jabs so, thematically looks good for both Templar and dk things

Could be said louder but not clearer.

I actually got the horsey from the crates and oh boy, I am never going to be able to use that mount.

If you were to pile up 20 templars on top of each other they wouldn't be as bright; the mount animation fills the entire screen with a flash of bright light.

If there was a toggle that allowed other players to opt out from being hit with searing light every time I jump on my mount maybe I could use it but as it is honestly IMO it could be regarded as antisocial behaviour.

I think is really cute though so I might let them roam around my home where they won't be causing people to develop cataracts.

Such uncanny creature shouldn't sound like an ordinary animal, it doesn't match.

I don’t ever buy crates. I’ve experienced the horrible bad RNG in this game and I won’t spend money on it.

I don’t care to buy things I don’t want.

I’m okay with it, though now that you mention it, something like the sounds from the Dwarven mounts would be cool as well.

Personally, I don’t like the chains wrapped around the tail but I can’t see that when mounted.

I went back and checked out the roar and after he does that, small sparks shoot off his body for a while. That’s a nice effect. It’s hard to see while riding but there are little flame colored paw prints left briefly behind while the mount is walking.

I got the recall which was nice, so cobbled up 100 gems for this skill too. It's really hard to see the other colors in the preview based on the pretty terrible placement of our characters and not being able to move the camera, so I had no idea it had the other colors until I bought it.

It's still overall pretty nice but was a bit disappointed a the addional colors were hard to see in the preview.

Ngl thats that aint bad. I kinda want it now lol. And certainly not the worst flash ive seen. Think that title has to go to those mounts that spawn the giant bubble things around them, and the turquoise or something like that ones that are loud af.

I’m not sure if understand your meaning completely, or if this was directed at my comment or not.

I’m happy that there is an option to avoid buying crown crates, since I disagree with their view that they are not gambling because you get something instead of nothing. I don’t have a problem with other people buying them, and if you believe some of the posts here they are making a lot of money for the game. I don’t mind paying for story content and other gameplay and have had a subscription for many years, but I personally don’t want to spend money on cosmetics. If buying crates was the only way to get this mount, then I would just not have the mount. Thankfully I can instead spend time playing the game and earn enough seals to buy it. It feels more rewarding that way to me too.

I agree since I would probably use such an option myself, but the fact is: do you remember the 4-armed horse? There are cases of people openly purchasing "obnoxious" mounts just to annoy players around them. I don't judge them, anyone find fun their way, but this would mean that having the option you described (hiding mounts) could deincentivize purchases = potentially less income for the game. That's why I hardly believe they'd ever implement that.

I agree with @spartaxoxo , there are people with sensitivity issues, and those who just are too distracted by flashing things. The argument for other players seeing it is always that it is free advertising and results in more sales. I have to believe that it causes serious performance issues as well. If you go to Cyrodiil, where everyone has max riding speed, and follow another mounted player, you constantly see that explosion effect over and over every second or two. It’s like the mount is constantly sending out the animation so it triggers when you are a certain distance away. Maybe they could turn that part off and just have other players see the mount without the explosions then.

I was worried about that being a problem, it is bright but I guess I have gotten used to it a little. I don’t know if that helps any.
