They have to hold on by the skin of their teeth because if they admit that they are in fact not capable of more... who is going to stick around? I've said myself in the forums, a couple times now, "Just take the L, guys" but you and I both know that they cannot or this game is over. And despite my whining over the last week, I actually REALLY like this game, or I used to.

They have all these interviews where it comes across like there’s all this innovation, but events like this happen and that image is completely shattered. It’s weird seeing such a disconnect between what the community is saying and how the developers are presenting themselves.

If I saw an honest level setting list of what is possible, have that frequently updated, and have an honest discussion about their mistakes, I would meet them where they are and accept content as-is. If they publicly and candidly told us what's going on in the studio, describe their challenges and roadblocks, I'd see them as more credible. Right now, it just seems like one fiasco to the next, with the usual promises of "we'll do better next time". I just don't see that progress.

If I were ZOS, I'd absolutely try to set it up that a console server 'won,' especially since the winner gets to be the first to get into ESolstice, and Console is always getting things 2 weeks behind in the first place. It makes perfect sense for them to want to get a console server to win it so the consoles don't feel left out.

I wouldn't have the PC servers fully last though; that does make it look completely contrived. Also the NA servers are already feeling quite put-off because of the lack of an in-person event (when EU had their anniversary one, and then they still get yearly Taverns while NA only gets small things that attached to other conventions in the middle of a week with barely any notice. That means the only people who can go to NA 'events' are full-time content creators, while normal people can go to EU's events), so it does seem strange that they set it up such that all the NA servers are behind all of the EU ones.

possibly? im sure they tried to set the thresholds based on server population, so each server could potentially have different thresholds to meet (as all of the numbers are nebulous to us as players)

as of this post the rankings are:

first place: XB EU (73%)
second place: PS EU (70%)
third place: PS NA (64%)
fourth place: PC EU (63%)
fifth place: XB NA (61%)
sixth place: PC NA (59%)

since 4 of the 6 servers are fairly close (within 5%), im almost thinking that the thresholds for XB EU and PS EU are set much lower

but since im not zos i couldnt say how much actual event participation is happening per server, the only thing that was visible to us players was when they posted that they adjusted the thresholds (which was when PC NA jumped from 9 to 21% on progress) (the adjusted threshold definitely seems to have helped the it progress faster for sure)

they definitely could have made the rewards better for repeat boxes, especially if they WANTED players to actively be participating in this event to move the progress bar, i think the vast majority of players at least on PC NA are only getting gold boxes at a bare minimum now

i was doing a lot of repeat dailies initially, but after 2-3 days into the event i realized that it wouldnt be worth it and stopped doing anything but get the gold boxes (1 siege camp, 1 vitrified souls, and 1 crafting daily per day right now)

i also focused on the siege camps more initially so i could finish the related achievements to those while we could get multiple of the dailies per character per day instead of trying to get shares for the 30 daily achievement

Oh, you do miss out on something: the actual bosses for the delves with an alt, replaced by a boss my poor wee 25 could not possibly hope to take out on her ownsome. For possibly, allegedly, some furnishings with a really low drop rate. /facepalm

It might be worth looking at what Microsoft has been doing to their gaming companies over the last few years to get the big picture. The recent layoffs are only the tip of the iceberg.
This doesn't excuse the many years of poor customer relations but it puts the recent downward trend into perspective.

I expected something more epic than an incursion event and fetch quests: something like a large scale battle, using actual sieging on the wall, a cinematic cut of daedra coming out to fight... but the most immersive thing so far is the Meridia lens firing off for a second when we zone to the main camp shrine. Nothing feels epic, involved and like we are part of an apocalyptic event. And to add insult to injury, the fetch quests are made even more tedious by not having guaranteed drops for the objective items, and the rewards are not worth doing more than the three quests for the golden coffers. They hyped this once-in-a-lifetime event so much, but so far they have under-delivered, and given how expensive the pass was, it makes the whole thing look like a low effort cash grab, and it's a major let down for the players and the game's anniversary.

Like, comparing it to other events, I didn't expect much, but I also don't think that a 40+ days grind event is very narratively interesting. I already make numbers go up, so also turning numbers going up into a story detail is not that special.

I wonder how many of those that voted that they are enjoying Phase 1 are still enjoying it now in Phase 2.
