Honestly I'm having a lot more fun discussing it than playing it.

Part of that might be that I haven't bought the content pass. I decided long before the 'content pass' format was announced that I'd skip the next chapter because I still haven't finished a lot of the older stuff I've already paid for, but I was hoping ZOS would make it a difficult decision.

But still that means I'm missing a lot of the context and can't access the part of the event on the new island so I'm restricted to just the 'support logistics' dailies (and still got a major story spoiler from one of the NPCs).

I did the intro quest and one of the dailies yesterday and it was basically the same as every other community or zone event we've had. Short intro quest then repeatable dailies with too many people camping them which you can grind for a chance at rare drops from an event box. It's...fine. It's what almost all online games do for almost all their events (and a lot of other games do because some executive heard 'live service' is the new big thing). But that also means it's pretty unremarkable.

On the other hand the forum discussions about it have been a lot of fun. I got home from work today and I was genuinely more excited to be able to read and comment on topics about the event than to log in and play it (which I might do later on, after I'm done with my other MMOs festival).

Not enjoying it, first impressions were quite negative, and won't be returning to the event.

    Here were my gripes:
    1. Quests were not fun. They felt like dailies and didn't introduce any unique mechanics. Content feels stale.
    2. Quest related drops weren't frequent, so it was more of a grind than I have tolerance for.
    3. The rewards were not there. While there are a number of attractive rewards, they seem to be RNG rather than guaranteed or curated drops.
    4. Stirk Motif was the main attraction for me and is still not dropping.
    5. The game design forces players to compete instead of cooperate.

To wait a whole for this year, only for it to be really disappointing is quite sad. It's definitely a once-in-a-lifetime moment that unfortunately isn't a positive one. Certainly a fork in the road for me.

New World just made their Angry Earth expansion free for everyone, while simultaneously dropping yet another completely free expansion in Nighthaven.

You’d almost have to be crazy NOT to be playing New World right now, I know I just picked it up.

To be fair, I’ve hardly been doing events because you can only do fetch quest events for so many years. I don’t know anything about phase 2 and I think phase 3 is conceptually cool but my gut says it won’t go as well as expected.

On the first day I struggled to complete the quests, but persevered. In the first box opened I got the Coldharbour Surreal Estate, which was a delight until I actually went there.

Then I remembered about the house from when the Doomchar plateau was released, that it was also just a building site. All the fun went out of the event at that point.

Today, I completed the quests to get the gold boxes, and no more, having lost all interest in the event.

No so far it feels very bland and very unrewarding.

From doing the intro quests and listening to the dialog, I have the feeling the wall will they stay up forever and they just make a hole in it with the thingy that we are restoring. And after that we can go through to western solstice and those daily incursion quests probably stay forever there to keep defending the hole in the wall.

Haven't played the second part yet, but if the wall stays, it will be the most anticlimactic live event in videogame history for me. I am expecting some marvelous light show with dramatic choir music when the wall breaks after a whole year of hyping this up.

Like others here, I reinstalled New World and do my ESO dailies while in am in the 4600+ login queue.

My hangup with the event is this..

I just don't find it fun. There's nothing especially rewarding after performing a litany of mundane tasks for so little return. I sometimes think "no sweat, I can get past the mundane slog". But then I realize that there are still 35 more days of it yet to come, and my motivation takes a significant hit. There's absolutely nothing rewarding, nor anything I can point at and say "See! That! That's what we're doing it for!"

Yesterday I did the event crafting on all of my toons, as well dipped a bit into the other daily repeatables on each of them. Today I got my 3 Gold Coffers, did the crafting daily repeatables on 2 of my toons, and called it a day. Tomorrow and going forward I'll likely just get the 3 Gold Coffers each day and that's about it.

Which really blows chunks, because I truly was hoping this event would raise the bar. Prior to the start of the event I was more concerned about PC servers getting the Phase 3 update 2 weeks before consoles just in case that difference in time could make a difference. Today that concern doesn't bother me in the least because I couldn't care less.

I am not sure who came up with this idea... but I will have no idea what the main story of Solstice was about. Why ? Cuz I am doing main quest hyper fast & skipping all the dialogue since I want to also complete "Crossing the Wall" quest since it seems like for the 1st time ever there is a dead line for a quest....

I was hoping to do this zone once there is a new one and all of the crowd will move there so that there will be less people... well... some one made decision for me that I will have to do it now....

Meh. I did all the event dailies on two characters yesterday and again today with the crafting dailies on my others and I'm honestly...just kinda over it? The rewards haven't been amazing, the drop rates for the needed items aren't great, and the camps spawning and despawning makes it so much worse - when it works I can get all 15 vitrified souls from one siege camp, but when it doesn't I'm left running around a lot, which is not fun especially on my alts that don't have maxed mount speed.

Based on the progress bar it seems like we will be at this for weeks, and if phase 2 is just "phase 1, but with harder enemies" I'm not feeling it.

I actually find it disturbing how bad it is, considering what it was hyped up to be and how it was marketed as a major piece of the year's content. I had fairly measured expectations, but expected it to maybe be on par with previous chapter events with an extra twist. But what we got is buggy, boring and tedious, immensely unrewarding and worst of all, straight up unfun; it feels like something cobbled together last minute from scraps of existing content by folks who don't actually play the game.

Ok that's fine, not everything's a win... but the disturbing part for me is this comes after a very underwhelming year and a half or so, where we keep being told about better things that are coming (and the wall event was sold to us as one of these things). This year was extremely light on content already; u48 has little to offer and it was suggested that this was, at least in part, because of all the work going into this massive, historic, world changing event. And this is what was produced?

There is clearly just a tremendous, insurmountable disconnect between what's being developed and what players enjoy. It feels like things are being decided by numbers/marketing people with a spreadsheet, with little consideration given to what makes a game fun. Any remaining faith in the promises of better things, or that change may be coming, or the brief attempts at better communication... it's gone at this point. Someone in an earlier post described this being a "fork in the road" for them, and I have to agree with that feeling.

I haven't bought the content pass, so that might figure into this as I can access only the quests on Stirk.

I'm not enjoying the event at all. The dialog writing for many of the major NPCs you can talk to on Stirk is atrocious and that alone would have been a major turn off for me. In addition the "quests" or chores are horribly grindy with low drop chance for the quest items and a lot of competition.

The invasions of delves and public dungeons is nice in theory, but in practice it has prevented some of my characters from doing the Undaunted daily from Bolgrul since the the delves I get sent to are also the ones that are used for invasions.

I'll probably do a bunch of the crafting quests, but that's about it. I see absolutely no point in doing any of the other stuff.

That's what really sucks about this the most. I'll grind. For hours. I did it last night, did over 80 quests. Got right about nothing for my trouble. All over discord today is the same thing. We will grind. We will do all the dailies on all the toons if it was worth it. I hyped this up in guild for weeks. Talked about it at raid nights so people would remember to sign up. I don't know about thinking it would raise a bar but for sure saw all the things that could come out of the boxes and figured I'd get most of not all if I put in the time. This is obviously foolish, I see now.

As for the progress bar, Zos has their finger on it for sure. I don't see how anyone could think they don't. We watched it go from 2% back to under 1 a couple times yesterday. There's also a graph showing Xbox and PS5 raise the same percentage at the same moment. That was posted here.
If they didn't put their finger on it, then any server could blow through the goal and be ready to bring down the wall before it's even there for console. They'd look stupid then and above all they can't have that. Lol.

No answer here - I’m getting about what I expected (except for the motif they forgot to turn on)

But I knew that with the amount that this was hyped up, there was no way they’d be able to deliver and that it would lead to a lot of disappointment. So I’m really not surprised on that front.

My main fear is that, since things are planned like a year in advance, that the 2026 Seasons are planned to have more FOMO events to drive sales instead of being good products, exactly the same way Solstice went. Stick your head in the sand all you want, but every metric players have access to is showing a decline, and even most of ESO’s content creators are now making content primarily for other games. It is pretty evident that almost every decision ZOS has made since Gold Road released was a bust (or worse!), and I’m sure that the Microsoft executives are hovering their fingers over the kill switch if ESO’s playerbase continues to decline.

We definitely need a lot more than empty platitudes in the Director’s Letter this year. And a concrete reveal of an actual thing that we can expect in 2026, no more of this “we can’t wait to talk about what’s coming up” nonreveals.

Do they still have internal testers? It released broken, missing drops, etc. half the camp spawns deactivate, once that is fixed it may be better. I noticed I started getting the new motif and mats half way through my game session, which is an improvement. Bethesda charges AAA prices, we deserve AAA quality. Smaller teams will take their base if not.

None of the choices apply to me. I am participating, so the last choice is out. I'm not not-enjoying, so that's out, too. But I'm also not particularly enthused, so the first one doesn't work, either.

      1. the Vitrified Souls and Quartermaster dailies are way too much grind for the rewards. Drop rates for the objectives are too low and the rewards are mostly gear that I've already collected while running around on Solstice. Once for the Golden coffer is enough for me.
      2. the Crafting dailies are crafting dailies. The reward boxes mostly just give you back the mats you expended to do them (except the style mat), so pretty much a wash outside of the first one for the Golden coffer.
      3. the siege camp dailies are kind of interesting, but the Stirk Fellowship motifs were bugged (supposed to have been hotfixed earlier this morning), so the main reason for me doing them was a non-starter.

The Hag Mota pet isn't especially interesting. I have one character with a pet and don't otherwise use them, but I'll collect the fragments because "why not?" I can't get the Coldharbour house because I already own it. I'm not especially stricken with the Wormwrithe style, but it's there with the pet in "why not?" I probably will chase the Stirk Fellowship motifs because I have a couple of Master Writs asking for it. I've got about 60 others which are unopened, so no idea what's in those. Whoever thought of "let's put Master Writs into people's inventories that can't be done because the style doesn't exist yet" should have their head examined. Eastern Solstice will unlock when it unlocks. Personally, I'm all in favor of console users finally getting to be first into a zone, but Phase 3 can't even start until the end of the month at the earliest, so I can't claim great enthusiasm on that front, either.

Not enjoying it at all. The development team has shown their lack of skill, imagination, understanding, originality, or anything else involving how a MMORPG works, or should be ran. The devs hyped this up so much and have clearly lost the plot on what a "historic game changing event" is let alone how to create one. I think it's time Microsoft forces ZOS to outsource the development or bring in development leadership that has some real vision, because there hasn't been anything more than fetch quest added to the game in years. This event is especially pathetic.
