Are You Enjoying Phase 1 of the Writhing Wall Event?

    Yes, I'm enjoying it!
I like this type of low-pressure event. I've completed the Golden Pursuit and earned the weekly endeavor without even trying, and am able to complete 24 event quests (6 of each type) on my main character within a reasonably short amount of time, so that lets me enjoy other parts of the game instead of feeling like I need to be grinding event quests for hours and hours.

after turning in about 30 quests and getting 30 of the blue chests, and all with only 1 piece of gear in them and nothing else.

Then it's over with them, and I'm only doing the first daily one and nothing else.
It's ridiculous all that work for one piece of unusable gear

so no, that event can't be used for anything

The scariest part is that it's totally believable that they're sitting in the office reading all this negative feedback and scratching their heads. Kevin goes into the new directors office and tells him. But but but did you mention the making history part? Yeah, I told them. You mentioned it was world changing right? Yeah I told them. Swear to God. Then the director throws up his hands and says well I don't know what to tell you Kevin. We already got their money. So, just say nothing.

The event is not fun, too much tedious grind, horrible drop rates for the quest items (and everything else). I bought this season but I will not waste my money on another one after this. Playing WoW Legion Remix, which is fun and will be playing New World for the new content (I had finished up the old season and all the old zones a couple of weeks ago.)

I will not be playing the writhing wall event. The content this year has been the thinnest ever and what we did get has not been well done. The Pursuits rewards are nothing I am even interested in, the pet and the mount are ones I would never use. The rewards for Phase 1 were nothing I wanted either. Wasted my money buying access to this.

    I'm not enjoying it.
    • Dailies are FEDEX/fetches quests
    • We have to farm the same zones with too many other players to get the needed materials
    • There were many bugs yesterday and there are still bugs today
    • It's not a unique event
    • Mobs and bosses at dolmens are far too weak and get parsed in 15 secs without moving an inch
    • Good rewards in containers have a very VERY low drop rate. I made 150 dailies and yet only got 3 pieces for the pet
    • No French voices

I wasn't expecting that much, and I'm still disappointed.

Still way to many bugs... should have at least hoped that in 2025 the stuff should be tested better before release.
But yea.... It is also way to grindy to kinda enjoy....
Maybe next phase will be better but for now nah i am not enjoying it at all....

None of the choices apply to me. I am participating, so the last choice is out. I'm not not-enjoying, so that's out, too. But I'm also not particularly enthused, so the first one doesn't work, either.

That sums up how I feel.
    1. the Vitrified Souls and Quartermaster dailies are way too much grind for the rewards. Drop rates for the objectives are too low and the rewards are mostly gear that I've already collected while running around on Solstice. Once for the Golden coffer is enough for me.
    2. the Crafting dailies are crafting dailies. The reward boxes mostly just give you back the mats you expended to do them (except the style mat), so pretty much a wash outside of the first one for the Golden coffer.
    3. the siege camp dailies are kind of interesting, but the Stirk Fellowship motifs were bugged (supposed to have been hotfixed earlier this morning), so the main reason for me doing them was a non-starter.

I got a bunch of vitrified souls (the entire amount I needed) just by doing one siege camp. I didn't have to loot anything for that to happen. Not sure if it's RNG, though. Maybe next time I'll get nothing.

Agree completely about the rewards. I'll do three dailies every day for the golden boxes, and that's it. The blue boxes aren't worth it. Anyone who had the content pass when Solstice was released already has the overland items. It's mind boggling that they thought putting them into the blue boxes would make people grind. As someone said upthread, the people making the decisions for this game seem to be completely out of touch with the playerbase, which doesn't bode well.

I agree a bit with SeaGtGruff, it's ok to have a low-pressure event. But it certainly wasn't marketed that way.

There are ways to mitigate some problems people are experiencing. The biggest thing: ignore where the quests show you to go, like specific delves or circles on the map. As usual the Quest Journal > Show on Map UX is severely unhelpful. Instead, heed the quest text: you can get items practically anywhere, so better go where there are fewer players, or even instanced areas like easy dungeons.

Thing is, I actually LIKE Solstice. I really love the environment design among other things. But even I am getting really worn out with all the problems, not least of all because we're left in the dark so often.

I didn't buy the season pass and was expecting to sit out this Golden Pursuit. So it was a really nice surprise to find out I could not only take part, but also get the big reward. I'm usually the unluckiest person in the game when it comes to RNG, but I haven't found the drop rate for the fetch quest items to be too bad either.
It's a tradition, or an old charter, or something...

I needed another option, because I am slightly above neutral in my feelings towards the event. I enjoy having the siege camps, wish they weren't bugged. Mount in the GP looks cool. I probably won't participate much, the blue box rewards are absolute garbage, and the gold ones are underwhelming. I was hoping for a chance at patterns etc from the boxes, but I don't think anyone has gotten anything interesting, it's just been 1 single piece of blue overland set trash. Why????

If you're slightly above neutral then that counts as yes, you're enjoying it (which is what you voted), it's just that you're only slightly enjoying it rather than enthusiastically enjoying it lol
I intentionally only included a yes, no, and not participating option so that the results of the poll are more clear.

    A real missed opportunity here.
Its like when your favourite football team marches all the way to the one yard line and fumbles the football only to have the other team recover it.
A better way to do this would have been if we could have attacked the wall its self and have the enemies on the other side defending. When we get a breach in the wall we could get through and attack the field general, capture objectives and get rewards. The enemies would also have the ability to heal or fix the wall as we are attacking and when we kill the field general they could no longer heal or fix the wall. Once the entire wall is down then we could have a "siege the town" quest or battle to kill the final boss and win the war. This would give it a pyp feel to it and would make it more exciting.

Although this is a simplistic approach to the story, it would still be a lot more fun than what we are doing now.

On the first day I struggled to complete the quests, but persevered. In the first box opened I got the Coldharbour Surreal Estate, which was a delight until I actually went there.

Then I remembered about the house from when the Doomchar plateau was released, that it was also just a building site. All the fun went out of the event at that point.

Today, I completed the quests to get the gold boxes, and no more, having lost all interest in the event.

To be fair, I think a lot of players who enjoy housing would do A LOT of fetching quests for a good chance to get another "just building site". Pity, most of us already have Coldharbour Surreal Estate purchased.

They’re intentionally making players who didn’t buy Solstice suffer, and it’s honestly demeaning. If it weren’t for one of my friends still playing, I’d have uninstalled without hesitation. It’s obvious they want everyone to buy the overpriced expansion. The problem isn’t the price, it’s the value compared to what they’re asking for. They forgot that competition exists, newer games give far more content and even free expansions. They call it a “choice,” but it’s just punishment for not buying the content pass, with horrible RNG and super random spawn rates. The Soul Reaper thing is just one example out of many.

All the good parts are locked behind Solstice. I promised myself I wouldn’t spend another dime after getting screwed by the deluxe edition that didn’t include “everything from previous chapters” like it claimed. The smaller DLCs are still sold separately. It’s $80, and other new games with better graphics, animation , ui , story , and all actually give everything for that price. I had to spend another $20 each for the missing stuff, and it left a terrible taste in my mouth. I’m done. I’m not paying double for what I already own. Solstice is full of recycled assets, and it’s not worth touching for the price they’re asking. My friend is really the only reason why i stayed XD so it a blessing and a curse

I refrain from voting since I do not have a particular strong feeling about this event either way. I'm not enjoying it, but I'm not hating it either. I just do the minimum to get the 3 boxes. I did not expect much from this event in the first place, so I cannot say that my hopes were crushed. It's just like any other event lately.

The most disappointing part is the lack of rewards that appeal to me (hence the minimum effort).

I discovered that today. Yesterday I got lucky the first time - the vitrified souls quest pointed me to 3 locations and the one I picked turned out to be a public dungeon with very few players and large groups of daedra so it was easy to get souls. The second time it was the opposite - I picked a dungeon where the quest circle covered one small corner and it was full of people camping spawn spots, so I went to another dungeon and managed to get it done. Today it sent me to Coldharbour and there seemed to be people everywhere, so I tried going back to the first dungeon and was able to get it done.

It was annoying at first because the 1 other person in there kept doing the thing where they'd wait for me to start moving like they were trying to play together without grouping or speaking (which would be fine) but whenever I was about to attack a group of enemies they'd rush ahead and wipe them out, then run back to me and follow me/wait with me until I started moving towards another group then do it again. So I just stayed still until they went away (it's not worth talking to them, they never reply), and then I was able to do the quest.

Just equip a bow and LA everything even if your character doesn't have the skill line. Let them open the can of whoop-butt on everything all they wish. All you gotta do is tag everything with a light attack to get the drop. Or just the occasional Arrow Spray if your character does have the skill line. :)

I encountered kinda the opposite in Coldharbour. I saw somebody else was farming the same area. So I just LA'd everything once to tag them then stood back while they farmed. They weren't trying to get ahead of me though. They were just moving very cautiously as if they thought I was up to something nefarious but they couldn't figure out what. And we moved together piecemeal through the area until we were each done.

I picked "enjoy" though that is a hyperbole, I just don't hate it. For me it's the same as every other event where I do a few event quests when I login then go about whatever else I wanted to do. The only events that really change how I play are Whitestrakes, Undaunted and to a certain extent double drops from trials. I can see that if you were lead to have high expectations you might be disappointed though. I know it's phase 1 and THE BIG THING comes in phase 3, but I felt more excitement fighting the Witches Festival bosses on the first day compared to defending siege camps.

Also think a two state solution for Solstice might not be so bad. There were no massive daedric incursions until we started preparing to siege the wall.

The drop rates are too poor and the way to get drops too repetitive. IDK why this game is so in love in fetch quest grind but it's not fun right now. On Day 1, I did every quest givers dailies until I wasn't allowed to do them any more. Idk how many quests that was felt like around 16-20 or somewhere along those lines.

I got 2 lures and 1 furniture plan. The plan was neat (Breton Spyglass) but it seemed like way too much repetitive effort for way too little reward. I wouldn't the drop rate being that low if the tasks were at least interesting. But running around trying to remember where alits spawn so I can kill them in 1 seconds isn't my idea of fun.

I also killed one of their generals. He was actually really tough with only 4 people. But not in a fun way because his attacks are poorly telegraphed. His health bar felt appropriate and he could have been more fun with better telegraphing. The drop from him was also garbage. I want to say his name was Gishvar or something Daedric like that. (ETA: It's Gishzor, found a thread) Idk I don't see anyone talking about him.

I think it helps that my expectations were very low. Yes I saw the hype from ZOS but I've seen enough of their announcements to know what they tell you rarely matches the reality, and also I assumed any good parts of the event would be reserved for people who bought the content pass and I'd have access to some token participation quests at most.

It seems to be virtually identical to past community events, so it's pretty much what I expected. No I haven't gotten anything amazing from the boxes but then I also haven't looked at the lists of possible loot to know what I'm not getting. I've been doing one quest per day and may do a few on the weekend Sunday (I'm away Saturday) if I feel like it. When I get bored with them I'll stop doing them.

Edit: when I got bored turned out to be 3 days later and only 5 days into the event, so I decided to vote no.

It's met my expectations, but those were low enough that I'm hestiant to say I'm enjoying it. It's fine as an extra thing to do in small does and I don't feel any obligation to do more than that so I'm ok with it. My one big concern is still that the zone story won't be updated (or will get a half-hearted and rushed update) after the event is over so we'll be left with a broken and incomplete story that makes no sense to play through later, but that's not really anything to do with the experience of playing the event.

Poorly telegraphed seems to be the order of the day for the abilities of the bosses from this event. I fought a daedric boss in the Grahtwood public dungeon that kept giving the interruptible telegraph while channeling an ability, but it couldn't be interrupted either by bashing or with crushing shock.

Several of the bosses that have replaced delve and public dungeon bosses also have abilities that hold you in place for a while that you can't break free from, and they give the interruptible telegraph while doing it, but I have no clue if those ones actually can be interrupted, because I was stuck immobile and unable to do anything while they were channeling it and there was nobody else around to try to interrupt it. Seems like bad game design to include a mechanic requiring more than one player to counter for bosses that are placed in locations that people usually do solo.

    No, I'm not enjoying it!
Phase 1 and phase 2 were always going to be terrible. Phase 3 allows us to access the Fortress content which is where its at. I feel they just held back dolmens and one world boss to extend the content over a longer period of time because there isnt much coming, sadly they should know events last a week at best before the majority of players move on.

The biggest problem I have about the event is that new content is released if you make it to Phase 3 on your server.

    Lets break it down:
PC NA are averaging about 2% per 24 hours for Phase 1 on peak players (we may get more on the weekend).
    100%/2 = 50% x 24 = 1,200 hours or 24 days for Phase 1.

But we know events for player counts last at most one week so its more like:
7 days x 2% = 14% and then 1% per day for the remainder of Phase 1 so...
    7 days (14%) + 86 days (86%) = 93 days (100%) for Phase 1!

Phase 2 introduces one world boss and nothing else but seeing the boss is already available in Phase 1 most have already completed it so wont come back in Phase 2 to complete this.

We are looking like we can play new content in about 6.2 months from now.... working as intended? Does this seem fun to anyone?
