I can't tell if this is satire or not. 100 boxes is not very many, and that is a lot of nice loot.

I feel like players want every box to contain X item worth 1m gold, but only for them, not for anyone else, because otherwise that would decrease the value of X item. It's just not possible.

Free loot is awesome. Even the base game motifs some people are trashing are great for alts. Learning full motifs increases chances for master writ drops. It's not clear what would make people happy when it comes to event drops.

It's not satire, 100 boxes took me a few hours over the last few days, there were some nice mats but hardly anything expensive, I think I got a chromium and a Dreugh wax, but the vast majority of the stuff were low value motifs which I already had anyway or worthless junk, so I don't understand how people were getting really expensive items unless they were farming thousands of boxes which the average player isn't going to do and therefore there should have been no problem. Now if they have nerfed the content then I won't far them at all, I will still get them as I continue to do normal content.

By the mythic item worth 700k, I'm guessing you're referring to the Aetheric Cipher?

That's one of the absolute rarest items in the game. I got one during jubilee a few years ago, and it made the event for me. I just can't imagine being disappointed with those results from just 100 boxes. Maybe the way you're "farming" boxes is leaving a bad taste in your mouth. The event is pretty long. Just playing the game as you normally would should net you quite a few boxes and some nice rewards without going out of your way.

And 3 perfect roe represents something like 600 fish. That's a lot of time fishing that instead you got from reward boxes. A really nice reward, IMO.

Yeah you're right, the rewards that I did get made the farm well worth it. However, now I hear that it's been massively nerfed, so to get the same rewards again I'd have to do 10 time the work, it's now not worth it to me. Yes it was the Aetheric Cipher, thanks, I'd forgotten the name.

I take back what I said about them being junky. Most of them are junky, but yesterday I got a couple rarer motifs including Welkynar chests.

In my experience (YMMV), the only items that seem to be affected are the Cyrodiil provisioning ingredients. Specifically, mourning dew and rubyblossom extract. I've still had some drop, but at a much lower rate than initially. I think this is a good thing. The vast majority of players don't even have the recipes to use those ingredients. But if you really want those two items, guild traders are now full of them at bargain prices.

You got extremely lucky with the cipher drop. Congrats. It is so rare, it is not worth farming regularly. Hundreds of hours killing mobs, and you probably still wouldn't have one.

I have gotten enough motifs and furnishing recipes that I have 3 characters muleing them, I get 1-2 perfect roe a day, and I've gotten 400 transmutes.

I got 4 motifs on just one character from writs yesterday.

The drop rates are the same as previous years. The biggest issue is that *motifs* are devalued over previous years.

They haven't been massively nerfed though. People who are making this hyperbolic statement are just having crappy RNG. This topic seems to come up every year it seems like, where people ask "does it feel like drops have been nerfed?" because they're having terrible RNG. I think maybe certain items like Motifs, Plans, and gold mats like Tempering Alloy could be adjusted to have higher drop rates, but we've been TOLD that the ONLY drop rates that were changed were things like Rubyblossom that were dropping left right and center when the event started. Now people have latched onto the public admission of altering those drop rates as the excuse for why their RNG has apparently started being bad, but it's the whole correlation/causation thing.

Also, let me tell you that there are PLENTY of us who farm thousands of boxes during the event. Many of us are crafters, and with the help of a couple of add-ons, we can get through a full 22-character roster doing all 7 writs in about an hour, hour and a half. Maybe a bit more depending on whether you get distracted or need to do something else for a bit. I get 154 boxes every day.

Now that's not to say you're doing it wrong, or trying to flaunt how many I can get. I'm just saying a BUNCH of people use the daily crafting writs to get a bunch of boxes during the Jubilee. It's one of the fastest, but it's not exactly the cheapest unless you're an actual crafter who can farm/hoard your own mats rather than having to buy them.

But this is unfortunately a good example of what I keep saying. It took you days to earn those 100 boxes. I can earn 154 in a day. The nature of RNG means you will, sadly, just have fewer chances to get rare or valuable things than people like me. Tho I will say I'm super jelly of that Cipher lol. I've only ever gotten three in going on eleven years, all of them from the Jubilee. Two were back to back years. But that drop is also a good example of being able to get rare stuff even if you have fewer chances.

At the end of the day, everyone has to decide whether it's worth it to spend some time and potentially not get stuff, or to spend no time taking part and 100% not get anything of value. A lot of people have limited time, I know, and they don't want to spend it for what feels like no return when there are other things they'd rather be doing.

Today I had another day since the start of the event with no motif pages on any of my 12 chars. I did the crafting dailies, thats a total of 84 boxes and 15 Dolmen in Auridon, which gave me 15 more boxes, for a grand total of 99 boxes. All of them had no motif page what so ever :(:| .

If it would have been only 1 or tops 2 days during the whole event with such a result, I would say "bad luck". But now its been 5 days  .

To be fair I am doing crafting dailies on 29 characters total across 3 accounts, so my results are more likely to be better.

But I see motifs pretty regularly across those 203 boxes and perfect roe does seem to drop a lot too. :)

Since the hotfix doing dailies and pvp dailies I have gotten one perfect roe and more junk that I can delete at once. First time in 10 years I will not sub for another year.

I've opened hundreds of boxes and didn't get a single gold material after the hotfix. This is beyond ridiculous, and I sure as hell won't bother with this event next year.

I’ve been opening some today and getting a mix of motifs, materials & plans. They’re still pretty decent for me, so it really must be just a case of you being unlucky with rng.

Maybe its just me, but I miss the pre-2024 Jubilees. The rewards were better then because you only got boxes from dailies. And since the boxes were so good, everyone worked together in giant groups to share dailies and there was a certain shared camaraderie. It made the Anniversary Jubilee event actually feel like a celebration. It was my favorite in-game event and I looked forward to it every year.

Then they changed it in 2024 and the event just doesn't feel the same. The boxes were nerfed and de-coupled from quests, which took away a reason to play with others in an MMO. It contributed to the "ensolofication" of this game.

I am not a mathematician, nor do I pretend to be, but personally I still think that perceptions in loot reduction are due to loot table inflation, such that drop rates need to be slightly increased for each year that goes by to "feel" the same. Especially since the drops aren't curated.

For example, if you were to interpret the informational page literally, the glorious box says "A motif chapter, furnishing recipe, or style item" and the regular box says "A small chance for a motif chapter, furnishing recipe, or style item."

Each year, motifs, furnishing recipes, and style items are added, diluting the pool for each other. If I don't care about style items, each new style item added reduces my chances over the years to get a motif. Each "easy" new motif added to the game (like the ones obtainable through dailies in new areas) also reduces my chance to get a rarer motif I don't have. To me it's just logical that the more items in the pool that can drop that aren't exciting for fun, the more it will feel less exciting or fun, even if technically the rates are the same.

I have always loved the Anniversary event. For real life reasons, I haven't been able to farm as many little boxes as I typically do during this event. I can't say that I have noticed a significant worsening of luck for the boxes I have received. However, I have found my enjoyment of the event dampened because inventory management seems even worse this year; I think maybe because of all the furnishings. I just don't always have time to immediately artistically place furnishings somewhere when they drop. When you don't have space to sort through your rewards and still play the game, it's kind of a bummer.

My #1 wish for ESO Today: Decouple achievements from character progress and tracking.

I will say the one nerf I'm seeing is the reduction of certain mats from stacks of 20 to 5. That...kinda sucks, honestly. I mean I guess at the end of the day it'll be better for the economy? Stuff like Powdered Mother of Pearl will likely go back up...maybe, depending on how many people are farming boxes via Dolmens and WBs and all.

I finally got my first motif since the hotfix: one I didn't have - yay! It seems others are getting them though, and selling them in the guild traders. I found a pre-hotfix motif on one of my alts the day before yesterday, put it up for sale at over 10% less than the lowest price on TTC and... it hasn't sold. That at least gives me hope I'll be able to get a bargain on the motifs I need.

Y e p, those things, Clam Gall, Dragon Rheum...heck just a few years ago I'm pretty sure Rheum was like 10-12k each lol. Maybe with the amounts being lowered during the Jubilee it'll help some? Hard to know though, the prices of things just naturally tend to decrease over time, so it can be hard to tell what's lost value just because of more supply, or what's temporarily lost value after things like the Jubilee.

This is actually the best time of the year to buy Motifs or Plans you're missing, because the prices drop on a bunch of them for a handful of months. There will ALWAYS be impatient people who prefer to sell something for 10k now rather than wait a few months and sell it for 40k. Best time to shop is later in the Jubilee, closer to the end, and for a couple of weeks or so after it ends.
