I have way too much characters with each their own stories, so sometimes the name i choose outside of ESO Lore for not having to change it one day (happened to me with a name non existant in game but later was)

I have now 69 characters
- 3 (per account) are what i call *mules* and they carry all the things i want to keep for long or housing furnitures - Their name are Men names outside of the lore but often a mix of two langages or translation in latin
- 27 are old now and i dont play them anymore, they are farmer, crafter, thief or killer, with a name fitting what they doing but tied with precedent character stories i always create (from other games, like if they were gran'son or girl going through generations

- i pass on the others and i will keep the last one, Columba Nera. I am from Corsica. This is my land and my soul. I know and love the culture, stories, history, i was lulled by Corsican songs, and i still listen them on spotify while i play too.

Columba is a wild heroine, guardian of traditions. In the life-and-death struggle between his family and another family on the island, his brother might allow himself to be softened. But she is there, watching, pressuring him, harassing him, and... revenge will have to be accomplished.
The older i become, the older i miss my land. So i decided to play a character, living only for revenge. Beside, there is also in french the word Colombe (a dove), figuring Peace. So i decided to add nera (corsican word) for black. Fitting even more to my character. I even refused to do the starting quests and met the Hooded Figure : i do not have my soul back. I act by instinct not by good or bad. I can do mistake and i will live with it. And i will never get my soul back. I am silencer, thief, and live by my own rules. And vampire

I think that Argonian and Khajiit must have particular names.

I still have my little Khajiit Bianca Petite Fleur and another one Dancing with Smokey. But those are very classic and easy, i feel some funny research in yours both.

I only have one character with a phrase name - Has Many Snacks.

I chose it because of the bust slider on Argonians and a certain comic I like about what lizardfolk have in their chest-pieces. It doesn't have to be funny to anyone else but me.

There are so many things that break immersion in the game, names are the least of them. Though I have reported someone for using a serial killer's name. I have no idea if they had to change since reporting them also conveniently blocked them. I guess I'm not entirely against some policing.

I agree that there should be a name police.

So that I can name my characters more freely.

My first name is Christian, and when I play RPGs I often recreate myself in the game, with the name 'Christian XXXXX', where 'XXXXX' is something suitably fantasy-ish.

However, I cannot do this in ESO, because "Christian" is banned by the (in this case very inappropriately called) profanity filter. I suppose because people could use it to besmirch the religion.

I think it would be appropriate to be able to submit a name for review and have it approved in this case.

Anyway, you should not expect total immersion in ESO. Want to immerse yourself in a fantasy world, create a pool of MUD and jump in...

OP has never met an argonian before.

I have had even the most obscure names be taken already, so I can understand people being silly just to even get their character made. Maybe spend more time enjoying the game and less worrying about how people name THEIR characters.

Nah, it's hard enough to find a name not already taken.
As long as it's not rubbish or profane/racist why care?

I spent about an hour yesterday trying to find a name for one of my characters that I was renaming. It got old so I finally just entered something mundane and it was not taken. I could have canceled the process but I wanted it changed.

I have used Lore name generators in the past but many of the names generated didn't appeal to me. ZOS has better things to do than go after those names that are not lore specific.

You want names in a fictitious world to be policed? Not a freedom-loving person are we?

Nah, I don't think it's snowflakey to not want racist etc. names ingame, I think it's pretty important to report that stuff.

Adults enjoying adult gaming can agree that some things are not "M" for mature and are just... poor taste or outright inappropriate, vile and/or hateful. No age rating protects such things.
