Leveling up - too fast?

On my main I had to skip an entire zone because I leveled past it. On my alt I didn't have that problem. I'm not sure what the difference was really. I guess I killed more mobs on my first char.
Please LOL my comments. I'm an aspiring comedian.

Yeah same problem here OP. I HAD to make alts so I didnt lvl so fast. How did ESO miss all this in beta. I told them others did the same. This is the way they want it. To late to fix.

I just skip making armor for 4 levels now. If it all brakes ..I found fixing it is not worth it. I can still kill all the same just as fast as if my armor was 100%. It does bother me because you make armor and sometimes its like.ooh I like this one.. hour later.. your 1 or 2 lvls higher.

This is by far the most easiest mmo to date.

Looking back at my achievements i saw that i have like 150+ chests opened. I don't know the precise numbers, but i'm thinking that 3-5 levels came from opening those chests alone...
From the ui it looks like that opening a chest gives you something like 3%-5% of a level

dont use rings of mara. problem fixed.

    Not quite.

I fully complete each zone (no Mara boost) and I'm constantly overleveled.

Just finished Auridon on my Templar at level 18 which is 3-4 levels above the final quests. That's just after one zone...

I had the standard edition game. No boosts of any kind. Out leveled every area long before I even completed that area's content. When I finally got to the next area, everything was 3-4 levels below me at first. The content would catch up to me for a brief moment, then I'd quickly out level it again, and be over-leveled against everything.

Anyone saying that they aren't gaining levels quickly enough are probably just missing 80% of the game's content because they are blind.

I am going to call BS. Yep. I don't normally do that, but you sir are lying.
No honestly that's more then possible. Having a VR10 and 2 other chars in VR. My latest a templar took under 3 days to get to 50, that's not 3 days played just 3 days in my schedule (inc spending time with the family, kid ect normal day stuff).

If you want to listed to every conversation and so of course it will be slower, but if you skip all that as fast as possible and have done the content before it's very doable.

How do you think people hit VR10 before offcial release? :expressionless:
If you skip all the dialogue and rush through everything, and then get to VR levels within 2 days, that is your own fault. Not the systems fault. No one held a gun to his head and said BE A SPACE BAR HERO NAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! Did they?

    What?, huh?
I never actually complained about lvling too fast i have no for or against the current lvl of exp gain to me it's fine. I just pointed out a few things and made argument both for and against. In this case i was simply just pointing out to someone calling BS on lvling that fast that it was more the possible.

Anyways just participating as it's some new content contra the many other threads saying it's too slow to lvl up, VR content is too hard etc etc.

Aside from obvious dungeon? Probably some of random quests that don't go for places completion but just wander out in the wilderness. My second char is in Rivenspire atm and almost 34 while still not done with some quests. Other than that, I really have no idea what to tell you.
Oh, she's also looted exactly 150 chests. Most of those were simple and those don't give THAT much exp though.

The bottom line is none of us want characters to be over or under leveled. It seems like a simple a simple solution to allow XP to be turned off for certain things. Especially things like chests.

I'm wondering if this will never be implemented however do to possible exploits/farming.

It's an enticing option, but what happens when someone forgets it's toggled off, and completes a bunch of content before realizing? They can't go back and do that content for the XP. Now they have to grind it out.

Er...so maybe one tries to NOT forget about it? That's like saying what happens if someone, say, goes to a dungeon with a broken armor and then keeps dying(not always the case, I've done dungeons in broken armor before, but just for example).

My second char has reached lvl 34 and found yet another quest in Rivenspire. 5 more quests to do, 4 of them grey. Yay. It's actually sad to see "lvl up" msg at this point.

I'm just trying to give some constructive criticism to make a good idea better. I suppose some type of visual indicator could be displayed on screen to help remind them that it's been toggled off.

Maybe the XP bar flashes red when you receive XP, but it's toggled off. Then you have like 5 minutes to toggle it back on and receive that XP before it's gone forever.

I do not leave the zone before I have sniffed every single inch of the area, so I do not miss out any Quests as I'm multi-profession leveler. I need those ores, woods, runes and cloths (and achievements + experience).

As for the dungeon, my group isn't anywhere near the level and I can't solo it.

And my character just reached Veteran 10, sadly I had to grind-out Cyrodiil to reach it since half of the Reaper's March is bugged currently. Waiting for the patch 1.0.7 for fix.

Lol, the guy saying you level too fast is just spouting nonsense. I have done every quest/ skyshard / treasure map on Auridon and Grahtwood so far, and am halfway through Greenshade, and am 1 level above 2 quests I have....

Personally I find leveling quite slow, but I like that. I try to do everything in a zone before I leave - in other words, get the achievements for quests, bosses, shards and dungeons. I don't do the more involved stuff like fishing and hunting down the npcs, but otherwise I clear the place. I find that when I first arrive in a zone I feel a bit under-leveled, and by the time I leave, a bit over-leveled, but not so much that it's ever too hard or too easy.

Already stated earlier, since I'm unable to solo them, I can't do them.

And they shouldn't be required for reaching levels, they should be extra.

This. I'm sorry, but if you think you finished everything in the zone, and you are not 2-3 levels (at least) over the content, then you didn't finish everything in the zone.

Sure, if you run to each little marker on your map, and complete the main quest there, then maybe you won't out level the zone.

If you think that is all the content in the zone, though, you're sadly mistaken.

Yes we know you are bullheaded about your way of playing.

Group Dungeons are part of the Undaunted Guild and their skill tree. This guild gives you their own quests so to speak. Similar to the Fighters Guild quest lines and the Mages Guild quest lines. They would not have put this much work into it if they didn't think the majority of people were going to completely ignore it. Given this fact, they calculated the xp gains from these 3 NPC guilds into character progression.

Go ahead and skip it but own up to the fact that you have decided to progress your own way. With this unique path will come unique challenges. This is your problem but not the majority of us. The majority of us would like a way to turn off xp or adjust the % gain we get. The majority of us are experiencing far too fast level progression.

I have struggled with how the game punishes you for being successful. So what if I'm too tough for the monsters in the zone? I still want the loot and the XP!

I just had and idea! What if we could spend experience on things? Wouldn't that be cool? Let's say I'm feeling over leveled and I have lots of PvE content left that's going to become a grind. Maybe I can go to an alter somewhere and trade my experience for something else of value. Perhaps skill points, attributes, or crafting research. Or maybe just a unique motif or recipe?

Thoughts? Anyone in good with the developers? I think this would be a huge success!

This will happen in some months, it's called micro-transactions / in-app purchase, nonetheless i'm sorry to inform you that you'll have to trade real money and not XP points for it

Well, what happens if you hit deconstruct/destroy item when you didn't mean to? I mean there's a ton of things in the game where if you forget to do something you it's your own fault and you pay the price (minus the bugs of course).

But if its really that important to have a fail safe then they could just put a notification upon logging into that character. I think you'd realize pretty quickly if that massive XP bar was not moving or initiating sounds like it normally does.

Well, I skipped all but three starter dungeons and reached "min." level of each zone before completing previous with Rings of Mara, so skipping the dungeons didn't leave me that much behind anyways, heh.

It's just my opinion that you should be able to level properly with solo mode only without need of to do three group dungeons every time you swap to new zone. I don't recall World of Warcraft forcing me to do any dungeons while leveling and Quests were enough to fulfill the experience bar. Some players just tend to like to do dungeons and such once leveling progress is completed, just like some players like to complete the dungeons whenever possible or even level purely by them.

Anyways I couldn't care a bit if they'd add you a chance to disable or reduce experience gains as long as it's optional, like in World of Warcraft where you can disable them just by talking to NPC.

I find it works out about right for me, I take things slow and my highest character at the moment is level 20, but she finished the first zone just having hit level 17 and having done everything (all quests, cleared all dungeons and open world bosses) in the first main zone, which is about right isn't it?
