Pursuing items *is* fun. Unless you want everything you want as soon as you want it. There are some words for that, though. "Fun" isn't usually one of them.
It doesn't require effort though. It requires standing in a swamp for hours, semi-afk watching some TV show on your other screen, and occasionally pressing a button. It's not hard, nor are you left with any sense of achievement when it's over. Just a gnawing, empty feeling that Zenimax has had your trousers down and gone at you with a paddle.
It's arbitrary hoop-jumping. And while that's basically what all MMO activities are, most do a better job of hiding it by wrapping it up in a fun, engaging experience.
This, however, is about as much fun as slamming your hand in a car door repeatedly.

✭✭✭It is farmable now that enough time has passed. I walked in to Shadowfen yesterday intending to troll people by dropping totems in nodes, looted the first node I came across, and found it there. People aren't camping them anymore. You can just do a farm route easily now.0 -

The last time I did any kind of camping like you all are doing was when I camped some mushroom mob in lower Guk for a rare drop for 24 hours straight. Never got the drop. Did end up with a busted wireless keyboard, and back then wireless keyboards weren't cheap. That was when I learned it just aint worth it. A few days ago I decided to get this lead... Fortunately I was in discord talking about it so I have timestamps... Started Feb 10 @ 9:51PM, Got the lead Feb 11 @ 2:49AM... just shy of 5 hours. It was a terrible experience, but if you dislike this, just wait until you try and farm the Searing Gem lead for the Markyn Ring of Majesty. On a side note, my friend got it the next day within an hour of grinding. Finding nodes was not an issue (and this was during prime time PC NA), RNG is just terrible.Edited by Diminish on February 13, 2022 9:38PM0 -
endgamesmug✭✭✭✭By the time i got around to going for the lead in shadowfen they'd made improvements to the rng by including all alchemical plants. So lucky for me i got it in 20 mins, the 2nd time i got it in 20 mins was after id completed the mythic. I was picking nodes while i was waiting for a dungeon 😆0

This is the situation, ppl are spending 12h+ standing on one node and farming it. EVERY NODE is occupied. And some ppl will start trying to take others nodes, this causes fights and PPL WANNA MURDER each other. @ZOS_GinaBruno please do smething about the drop rate, or make it drop from nodes outside of Shadowfen. This is a terrible idea causing conflicts

@Drammanoth I know mate, Im experienced player. I turned on my harvest map and start grinding finally I got the lead, BUT after 7+ hours of CONSTANT farming. I understand that there is a random chance, but this is not right like 7+ hours.....

RNG doesn't mean that you have chances from 0 to infinity though. That's what people are complaining about, that chances are LOW. You were lucky, me too (took me an hour), others aren't and that would be okay if "unlucky" meant 2 hours instead of 12 minutes, but 7? 10? That's insane."We grew under a bad sun"4 -
proprio.meb16_ESO✭✭✭✭✭if it's pure rng you have always the same little X% chance of getting it every time you harvest a node... rng has no memory. It could require anything from 2 mins to all your lifespan and over. With a little luck you'll be closer to the first than the latter but there's no assurance at all.
If you want to change rng with something else for which chances increase the more you try, then you should ask zos to change all of its rng code used so far, but I fear the answer will be "uh... no".Edited by proprio.meb16_ESO on February 16, 2022 10:42AM0 -
zekeElite✭✭I got home at 9pm last night and farmed all the possible listed sources in Shadowfen until midnight. Woke up early today, and got the Tide Glass Bead lead at the end of the first hour.
I admit that after the first 3 hours of doing something so simple and mundane like this, I started to feel like I was being messed with. Or that I’m at the end of some joke the developers are making. It felt like Pale Order Ring/Bad Man’s Hallows all over again.
This lead is only 1/5th of what’s required, and it’s the simplest ask of them all. So why is it so difficult? I’m aware of the regular MMO-related answers to this, but it still feels like I’m the one actually being farmed here.2 -

You seem to be making this suggestion under the assumption that chances will increase if they wait a week. They won't - it would just compress the time between node hits from 2-10 minutes to maybe 0.5-2 minutes if someone found a node rich area and moved around. For some people it would still take hours and hours of farming, it'd just be spread across the time that they went and did something else. Terrible advice to anyone who actually wants this for a reason.
The drop rate appears to have been adjusted at any rate, as reports of faster acquisitions are coming in from my guildmates. The zone is free and clear of bots and hundreds of people complaining, so maybe it got addressed anyway. If so, thanks ZOS.
No I am making the suggestion to go have fun. If the grind is getting to you then do something else for a while. If you are frustrated and burned out do something just for fun. Don't blame the game for your own actions.and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."0 -

I farmed it for hours and hours when it first came out, hours and hours a couple months ago, and neither time got anything. Gave up on it. Went back last week on a toon to get the shadow mundus stone for a build, picked a couple Water Hyacinth I noticed on the way and got the lead without even being there for it. ✭Did they remove the drop chance from water nodes in the public dungeon in Shadowfen? That’s where I got it before on a different account but I’ve gone through a total of about twelve hours of running around (it’s a good spot to level alts, fighter’s guild, companions etc) and nothing.0 -

✭✭I decided to start in Bal Foyen with that lead. Over 12 hours and still nothing. I got two leads, both for the purple furnishing that I *already* had two of! I've given up. And to clear I farm in Bal Foyen nightly for months and I wasn't looking for a lead then, but still that beats most of the times for Shadowfen leads.

I wasn't scrying yet and didn't pay a lot of attention it may have just expired. So my question is if you get a lead and don't use it before it expired is it possible to get the lead again?
