Kilt lead farm = disaster

i dont know what evil genius thought about putting one of the leads for the Harpooner Wading kilt on drops from water nodes and water plant nodes.
This is the situation, ppl are spending 12h+ standing on one node and farming it. EVERY NODE is occupied. And some ppl will start trying to take others nodes, this causes fights and PPL WANNA MURDER each other. @ZOS_GinaBruno please do smething about the drop rate, or make it drop from nodes outside of Shadowfen. This is a terrible idea causing conflicts

I was wondering why my swamp is so overpopulated right now and there is literally more dry skins than trees... and all the river herbs are gone...

I guess that explains it... Perhaps things will change in the future and water plants will regrow...

How many hours of farming should be required to get one lead? Because I've done nine, and didn't get squat. I'm not the only one.

They should have capitalised on this and make the lead drop only from the nodes on the banks of the Niben as it flows around the IC.

Looks like a missed opportunity no?

Took seven hours for mine. The drop rate is 1% and when everyone's farming for it, your chances are abysmal. ZOS needs to bump the drop rate to 10% for the first week or two and this wont be a problem.

No kidding. A *Fast* node respawn is 2m30s, so the most you can hope for is ~20 rolls per hour, the way things are currently. If it is truly 1% then that's an expectation of 5 hours, with the camping, give or take 2-3 for luck. That does line up with what people have been self-reporting for their farming time in zonechat.

My hope would be that the lead availability gets expanded to include the rest of the zone's nodes, or maybe even let it drop from other zones too. The current distribution isn't working.

Everyone in shadowfen is sitting at one single node and pushing E every 2 mins and 30 seconds. For hours, and hours, and hours.

ESO isn't meant to be that sort of grind. Up the drop rate or add more sources (like any harvesting node in shadowfen)

@ZOS_GinaBruno tell the staff about this, please.

Spend 11 hours farming it and still farming at the moment I write this. Harvested over 200 hiacynths & 200+ water skins/pure water and still nothing from it.
It's acceptable at least 1/2 hours but that's really too much atm, need to increase drop rates drastically.

Personally I think these design choices show clear contempt for player's time.

Making the lead of PO drop from trash mobs in a sparsely populated 'starter' public dungeon seemed asinine however you are still running around killing things.

This takes it to a whole new level.

If the lead was to drop from resource nodes it should at the very least be all resource nodes in the area and a significantly higher change. ideally the same chance as that lead which I will not mention that I surmise all of us use to go from 7 to 10 in a reasonable time, but if not at least x10 the current chance.

Once more, disrespect for my time does not equate 'content'.

So you expect easy access in the first minute you log in for some op set bonus? Why don’t you just try to farm if or don’t use it? Why bother gina because you don’t want to grind?

I made a trip to Shadowfen, just see all these people and it's genius! It looks like flash mob or something! Groups of single, duo or even three players standing by water and waiting. I almost saw madness in their eyes :D I bet that couple days later will be no problem with this, but oh, well... :D

It just isn't fun to grind like that. Put it on every node, I'm fine with that. I can make gold if I don't get it. Put it in fishing spots like the Murkmire one. Fishing is very lucrative and fun. Put it in a Shadowfen delve or PD so I can actually kill things while I farm. Standing/running around looking for 2 specific nodes is awful. There is no fun in it. The drop chances are too low for this kind of specific location. I can run RoM over and over but at least I'm getting something worthwhile from my time even if I don't get the lead. Pure Water/Nirnroot/Hyacinths are already near worthless as far as potion-making goes. And now the prices will be absolute zero.
Warden is golden. May it reign supreme.

This isn't just lazy game design--it's toxic.
That sounds miserable. I made a topic about the last mythic I bothered to go for. I hated the lead farm so much I quit ESO for months. Nobody noticed I was gone. 😭

I have given up on the mythics I would have liked to get because I cannot spend that amount of time doing something that makes me so miserable, for my own well-being. I'm pretty high CP, I'm devoted a lot to this game, and I kind of feel that these sorts of things ought to be accessible to me, but I have to accept because of how ZOS is committed to terrible game design, that these things are not and are intended to not be. because ZOS kind of wants people to sacrifice their well-being for this game. I say this as someone who let this game and toxic players grind me down to the point that it was my health was so poor, I had a heart attack a few months after I quit the game back in 2018.

ZOS is sold on this notion that making something a terrible, mental health-straining experience means it will be more rewarding once--or if--you get it. it's a fallacy that plagues a lot of marketing in our era--just look at fitness/diet/
wellness" crazes that as textbook examples of this. (And it's everywhere in gaming, especially in games that have some sort of gambling/microtransaction facet to it, like most MMOS, because that leverages the misery and frustration you start to feel while playing the game against the rewards they offer you if you just spend more and more IRL money. It's pretty sinister, honestly.) But that this sort of thing is clearly affecting people's mood and behavior in the game in very negative ways suggests that it is actively harmful for players, and ZOS is being egregiously irresponsible by continuing to do this and refusing to change both current and future means of obtaining rare leads.

And as for no one noticing you were gone--unfortunately, yes. Unless you're someone who is doing something that other people are counting on your to do, like a GM, or a raid leader, or a You Tuber who makes a video announcing you're quitting, people in this game aren't going to notice you leaving. MMOs do not encourage nor support real human connections between the people who play the game. It encourages transactional relationships that are easily dissolved and replaced by just finding someone else who'll run that dungeon with you, or grind with you, or sell you pots and mats, or whatever. Sadly, MMOs give us the feeling we're connected to others without us actually forming real connections.

It's not about the drop chance, it's about how it's executed, how other people can actively sabotage your try. You can fish with other people, loot is shared on mobs if you contribute any damage, same with world bosses, but nodes dissapears when you pick them up. Also they can be picked up by person on another instance/shard and make them disapear even if you are standing right next to it.
You can share nodes by turning off auto loot and picking them up in order by multiple people, with last person picking them up and only looting the lead, but try to teach that to all other people that camp every possible spawn point.

In other MMO I played developers anticipated higher demand on some specific quest mobs or items and would increase spawn rate at the launch to make player base lives easier.
But ZOS never thinks about how things like that impact player base at all and just does whatever.
Simplest solution would for sure be to just increase drop rate so people do not have to spend 8 hours+ at the same node.
Thrassian farm was miserable, I thought at the time that it's the worst it can be. But no, this is even worse cuz it has not just fishing of very rare nodes but also flower picking.

People probably want to use the item before it gets the Thrassian Strangler treatment...

I don’t see why it would get that treatment. The kilt is only about as strong as a 5pc set bonus, nowhere near the power of original Thrassian or Pale Order.

It’s only meta because monster sets and arena weapons have become so weak, and there’s no good option to fill a build after two 5-piece sets have been chosen.
