Got no problem with them adding a bit of romance or flirting dialogue to the companions but don't really see much point adding a marriage option.

They gonna add a polygamy option? so you can marry every companion that gets released, or are they going to make it so each character can only marry one companion? and use that as an excuse to add divorce tokens to the crown store.

There's no real interaction between NPCs and you, its all one sided, I don't see the point when you can already have them as houseguests. They're not going to have back and forth dialog options its not that kind of game, everything is laid out right in front of you and that's all you get.

No to existing NPCs, because it would mess up the quests and lore, but yes to companions, they could add the option to start a second quest line when achieving maximum rapport, that eventually leads to a romantic outcome, or ring of Mara ceremony, etc., but it should be optional and not affect any other companion features.

Interested, but want Companion to be marriable
Being able to marry some random NPC would not work, they would have to add in a completely new voice dialogue for them. However, Companions we were already told they were exploring adding a 'romance' option when they were first released... however, they have to BALANCE the gender release of the Companions to make it even possible at this point; THREE females and only ONE male doesn't make for a very happy player base!!

Interesting though, the number of people who come out against it, yet in Skyrim 'marriage' was a major feature that a huge number of players appreciated.

Maybe it's because so far the options we have in companions is bleh. Who would want to marry these particular companions? Unattractive, nagging, and irritating. Oh wait, spouses can be nagging and irritating, I guess they got that down realistically.

Wouldn’t it be better to give more meaningful interactions with the companions before talking about marrying them?

I'd be interested in romanceable companions, but at the moment they're disappointingly shallow. Not that Farkas et al in Skyrim were so deep and fascinating, but I would like to see them get more personality. Give them more dialogue, let us have conversations with them, let them respond more intelligently to places and things, let them comment on our gender and class and skill lines and quests completed. Bastian has a whole three sentences he can respond to me with - that doesn't really sell him as romance material, you know?

There are some NPCs I find interesting (Revus Demnevanni comes to mind) but I can see romancing NPCs being problematic as typically one copy of them exists in the world and it would get weird quickly as thousands of players romance the same character. They'd have to be turned into a companion or a houseguest for it to work and that would be a whole other complication.

I don't think it would make sense for most NPCs, they don't have enough dialogue/interaction and for story purposes they need to be free to do their own thing.

It could work with companions but I agree with the people who said we need more interactions with them first, it would be very jarring to go from the limited options we have now to being told you are a couple.

I think we'd also need more companions and especially more male companions. Half my characters are female and it would be very weird for them all to be married to the same guy, especially since I don't think most of them would have any interest in him.

Finally if it does happen I hope it's a purely optional system. I like the idea in theory but I've definitely got some characters who wouldn't be interested in a relationship at all and it would be annoying to be stuck between missing out on some systems when playing them or forcing them through an RP choice that makes no sense.

OMG I'm not the only one who has an alt madly "interested" in Revus Demnevanni!

But come on, lets face it, people want NPCs to be marriageable because many would pick Fennorian! He's probably the most desired NPC outside of Darien. I mean, why all the requests to have him as a companion? I'm not going to lie, if he was an NPC in TES V, I'd pick him up in an instant!

Most NPCs being marriagable probably would not work, especially with main ones (too bad for Fennorian). Side ones though might work (Hello Revus?). Maybe a marriage option would unlock them as a special spouse type of house guest. At this point there's probably better things they could work on before thinking about romance, companions or otherwise (like not screwing up Account Wide Achievements for our alts).

Any bonus for debuff for getting married?

Improved healing? More resistant to fear?

If your companion in injured or killed - any hardship?

More quests? Valentines Day? Get them a great gift or lose a level?
Better bonus for using the Lover Mundus stone?

    What about polygamy?

    Hmmm...let's NOT do this...

IMHO the way it was implemented in Skyrim was dumb and pointless. I’d MUCH rather have more dialogue options with characters that may or may not include flirtation and romance.

Given the relatively limited interaction with NPCs in this game, I don't really see the point.

It was pretty shallow & pointless in Skyrim, it'd be more so here. (with the added bonus of the "everyone is surrounded by companion clones" effect)

I don't like this idea. Next thing you know some kind of love triangle (or some other polygon) happens between two (or more) of my characters and a companion and they want me to somehow intervene. I don't need that kind of pressure.

And if I tell them no I know my characters and they are going to do it anyway. Best to not even give them the option.

I married several companions in Skyrim. Brought my new spouse to the basement of my house in Riften and murdered them, then went out to marry another one to do the same. I had a pile of, like, 5 bodies in that basement at one point. Really just to see if I could.

There’s a restraining order against me voting in this poll.

I understand why people might find it fun in a single player game but in an MMO I find it creepy and really would dislike this being in the game, at all, even if I could choose to not do it. (Sorry to those that like those idea; I REALLY hate it.)

I find the completionist in me wants to know the pieces of all the stories and responses and.. it gets weird and nonsensical. Will get even weirder with this push towards Account-wide- everything. If you romance an NPC in one character will it change how they react to all your characters? Plus thinking about everyone (real players, ) all pursuing the same NPCs...

    Just...no. My two cents.

Romances seem to work with companion/npcs in other mmos I've played, and are very popular too. No need for players who aren't interested to get involved with that part of a storyline, or a need for them to be aware of that storyline for other players. Doesn't have to be lurid or lascivious either.

I'm all for a bit of romance, snogging and the odd rummage in a game, particularly if it's well written. So yes please!
