Main Story Quest "Messages across Tamriel" Bugged!

    So after multiple tickets they told me the following in regards to checking if the CSR could reset the question:

    "As I expected we are currently doing maintenance in reference to this quest specifically. I have been informed to hold off on anything until the fixes are made live in an upcoming patch. On behalf of myself and the ESO team, I apologize for the misinformation. I wish you luck and fortune as you travel across Tamriel."


    Guess we are basically out of luck until they patch it... which who knows when that'll be since this has been bugged for a long time it seems. If anyone has any solutions or hears otherwise, let me know.

    Freezing the subscription till they patch the hell out of this game is the only reasonable thing I can do, same *** over and over every day. One bug solved with a poor workaround (or not solved -> shadowfen quest achievement) and another 2 bugs suddenly appear..

    So after a few days of being bugged, multiple tickets, being told to do lots of things that weren't helpful, and putting in a negative survey review, the CSR finally was helpful:

    "We are going to attempt to reset the NPC for you. To do this, you will need to be online. Let me know when is good for you and I will forward your ticket over to a gamemaster. Be sure to let us know if this solves the problem.

    -Josh"

    So I logged on and the GM fixed the NPC in about 2 seconds. So.. if you are having this problem, hopefully they will reset it for you too.

    Add yet another to the list of players stuck at this point. Main story quest you think they would emergency patch it and get it working before they run off subs before renewal date. Side quests are one thing...main story line is a major issue, more so when it halts advancement as this one can do for many people.

    "Yes we know its bugged and we are working on a fix for an upcoming patch" Are you going to hold off charging renewals until this "upcoming" patch as well?

    Yeah, I'm stuck as well. How do you not hotfix a bug that is affecting the main quest? This is completely unacceptable and has nothing to do with /reloadui...

    How does such a bug slip past QA? It's the main story, not just some random mid-zone quest...

    So maintenance Tuesday has come and gone and still no resolution for the bugged MAIN STORY line quest that is halting progression. I also find it interesting that I have yet to even get an acknowledgment for the bug ticket I sent in when this occurred, yet when I submit a gold spammer I get an acknowledgement nearly as soon as I hit submit. When is this going to be resolved? And don't give the MMO trademarked Soon response. Not everyone wants to roll an alt while waiting for a fix or twiddle their thumbs while waiting. Or do we need to spark a fire under developments arse by canceling our renews to get noticed? May 4th is newel date. So I guess Saturday May 3rd I will have a decision to make...

    You join the 250,000 other players (me being included) that are stuck and not progressing into the other two-thirds of the game.

    Pull up a seat. Although, I think we are running out of chairs.. :)

    What the hell... I see this NPC but I can't talk to him, tried everything I think... What is wrong with you, Dev team? You can't fix bug like that for that amount of time? I can't imagine how many more bugs are out there...

    I experienced this same issue and have since had it resolved by the GMs. For anyone who's interested, here's how it played out:

    Vanus had the quest marker above his head, but there was no action available via the reticle, so obviously it was bugged. No amount of relogging or waiting resolved it, so I submitted a request for GM assistance. I immediately received the following reply via email:

    "I apologize that this is slowing you down. I'm going to send this up to our quest team so that they can assist you. As soon as possible you should hear back from them."

    Two hours later I received another:

    "We have reported this bug to our developers so that they can work on a permanent resolution. In the meantime, players can attempt the following steps as a workaround:

    •Type /reloadui in the chat window to reset the interface.
    •Type /camp in the chat window to log out of the game. Remain logged out for at least 15 minutes. This resets the cache and allows the game to load correctly, which may help to correct the interactibility of quest NPCs.
    •Continue on your adventure by doing other quests while the NPC resets.

    If this troubleshoot doesn't work for you, A GM will be able to assist you. As you are not online right now, we cannot currently take care of it, but next time you are online, get in touch with us and we should be able to help you out if the above troubleshoot didn't work."


    I replied to the latter stating that the workarounds had not worked for me, and that I was online and would indeed appreciate the assistance of a GM. A mere 20 minutes later, I received another reply:

    "GM Nuri should be with you in-game shortly!"

    Sure enough, I received a tell from Nuri and after a few brief attempts, he/she resolved my issue; I was able to interact with Vanus and continue with the quest.

    Although I will point out that yes the patch did fix my issue and I can now progress and start my Veteran ranks, the thing that still burns is that I never once got any kind of acknowledgement or contact from ESO support regarding my issue. If I had not came to the forums I would not have known it was an issue or even being addressed. In short I was ignored regarding a game breaking bug. If anything take from this issue...improve your support communication. Not all players visit game forums (they are generally poisonous places full of vile trolls).

    So your problem was fixed, you found a solution, but still found something to complain about. Nice work.

    FYI Bopha is the worst GM ever. Ive gotten the SAME email telling me to soft log /reload ui ETC from him three times and he isn't even reading the ticket that IVE ALREADY TRIED those things. Do they purposely try and *** you off by not reading and sending canned responses over and over?

    GM got Vanus to spawn but the next NPC isn't spawning....

    As a side note THIS is the poorly composed in game mail I got from the GM. Nooo this doesn't look suspicious at all (looks like a gold farmer email)

    I got the quest to go to Vanus Galerion and talk to him, went to visit the queen and 2 kings and returned to speak to Vanus, where I was about to go to the council and lost connection or crashed. When I logged back in he has disappeared and so had the portal to the council. I have been back several times to Mournhold to see if he is there but so far no sign. I am sure that not being able to follow the quest line through will cause a problem for me. I can't tell it completed, and I don't seem to be getting later quests appropriate to my level now (44). Please help !

    It seems I am having this same issue. I am 41 now and skipped this quest initially as the NPC didn't seem to be in the Avani house.

    I need to get this quest chain going before I hit 50. Any suggestions? Xbox one, NA server.
