Include Furniture (and other) recipes in treasure chests/safeboxes/thieves troves please!

In the last few expansions, it has become ever more difficult to aquire furniture recipes. More and more they have become locked behind stealing and pickpocketing.

This drives up prices to the point where less solvent players can no longer afford them.

Also, there are quite a few players that either don't want to engage in the criminal side of ESO, or don't feel comfortable with it, or have never bothered to build up the skill line, because it doesn't fit into their RPG. But at the same time, those players might be ardent housing and crafting fans (and if they're housing fans, then they are a *very* lovely source of RL cash for ZOS, because they use the CS a lot more than others...) and very much interested in finding those recipes.

So, my request is that recipes are randomly added to treasure chests/safeboxes/thieves troves. We already have the addition of maps to the various containers. Please put the recipes in there, too.

Thank you.

    Totally agree.
Even though my main is a nightblade and can run through and pick up everything with ease, I don't think that all these recipes, motifs and designs should be so reliant on thieving all the time. Not everyone likes to do it, or have to go against a so called moral standard which some have in this game, especially if you rp.
Most anything that is not considered theft is very limited and those containers only contain like food items, white armor and just junk. I would love to see some changes made.

Uhh... you complain that these items are locked behind stealing, yet request they be added to Safeboxes & Thieves Troves. Umm... what?

Hm... I was thinking of the Thieves Troves that I encounter in the open world. There is usually no one around to see you open them up. So I guess I don't see that as stealing.
I was thinking more of the 'let's rob people's houses, pickpocket and murder them' part...

Running your lowbie characters through areas where there are tons of urns & backpacks will get you plenty of plans to give to your main to eat. No thievin’ necessary.

Safeboxes in general could do with better loot tables. The only zone where safeboxes have a chance of decent loot seems to be Vvardenfell.

If you give me the location of a place where I can find 'tons of urns & backpacks' in Fargrave or Deadlands (which is where you find the new recipes), then I, and everyone in my housing guild, will be very happy...

On top of the recipes being hidden in locked homes, where you have to murder the inhabitants and plunder the furnishings, I keep getting old content recipes. Why the hell am I getting old green or white recipes that I can't even sell, because no one wants them anymore, from the old zones, when I'm digging through containers in the newest zone? >.> *sigh*

As previously noted, I have not see this at all in Fargrave and Deadlands - not much stuff to open anywhere. I'd be happy to hear otherwise as well

Same here. There are five locked homes that have a few cabinets and such, but that's it. The rest are barrels, sacks and crates which mostly contain crafting materials.
Even the delves have almost nothing in them.
False Martyr's has nothing except barrels and a few crates. The Reformatory has a very, very few trunks. And the Wretched Spire has a few backpacks.
    And that's it.
    For an entire zone...

No wonder that Fargrave recipes cost up to 7 million gold...

Please, don't ask about drop locations on the official forums.

Do it in game, or google for info... just don't be asking here and if you know and don't know better, definitely do not share information here.

Every decent location shared on these forums since beta has been *fixed*, so just... please, don't.

I have a thieving character (though I am on console and don’t have access to the new dlc yet) and it hasn’t helped me with Blackwood plans. The owned containers are generally filled with stolen items that can only be laundered.

I still don’t have most blue Leyawiin plans and only a few purples.

I am playing less nowadays because I spend so much time farming and can’t keep my trader full. There just aren’t enough unowned containers in the new areas to farm to get anything.

Probably because the newer zones are frequently included in some of the newer account purchases, which make them an alternate starter zone for newer players, is my guess.

I don't think anybody is really asking about drop locations - more like pointing out there aren't any, lol. But fine, if somebody finds out otherwise, keep it a secret :)

I am not asking for drop *locations*.

I am asking for the recipes to be *included* in treasure chests, so that they aren't locked behind a content (stealing and murdering) that quite a lot of players don't or won't involve themselves in.

We have treasure maps, furniture, weapons, armor, leads, crafting materials etc. in treasure chests. It would make the recipes a lot more accessible *and* affordable, especially for the crafters and housing enthusiasts in the game, if the recipes, too, would be randomly included in the chests.

Edit: Adjusted the thread title for better clarity

In the Greymoor xpac they increased the chances of furniture drops from dailies at one point. Do you think they are going to do the same for Blackwood? To keep up interest in the content?

That would be awesome! And even better, if they add those to Master Crafter Rollis' offerings. I wouldn't mind doing lots and lots of writs for that :)

Someone who doesn't want to get caught with 10 stolen children's dolls on them? :o

(or, it's called "Large Stolen Shipment". So either it's goods being moved between fences in bulk, or someone stole a case of children's dolls from the crafter/manufacturer. ;) )

At the very least they should stop with non lutable pieces everywhere, it's more and more with every dlc and Fargrave imo is the worst offender currently.

Don't they have a completely separate pool of blueprints? I always heard of dailies awarding the structural blueprints, while all furnishings proper have to be farmed the old fashioned way. I think we need more document pouches like those dropped by dragons. Treasure maps should have a guaranteed furnishing plan of random quality too.

I would love to see furnishing plans in treasure map chests. And yes, document pouches or something similar (didn't we have something like that with the Harrowstorms... gray satchel... *ponders*) would be nice. Especially since we don't have group content in the Deadlands except for the World Bosses and that one Oblivion Portal that keeps chasing me all over the zone... >.>

You sort of already can get these from Treasure Chests. Miri's Special gives them from her "extra Loot Bags". I have had a few blues so far, but no Purples yet.

What even are thieves' troves anyway? Are they places for thieves to store their stuff? Do they put them there for other thieves to take? When we loot them, are we stealing from the previous thief?

I am more concerned with the price of mundane runes, heartwood and decorative wax. Farming them is a no-go with their drop rates and the 750 to 1500 price these are fetching each is getting out of hand.

Decorative wax is a true horror to farm, because you can only get it either from containers or (even rarer) from wasps or hoarvors. You need to kill dozens for one wax... >.<
I really wish that decorative wax would drop as a secondary item with a normal node.

Wax is the one thing I manage to farm faster than heartwood but that's because of my furnishing farming routines and occasional endeavors for laundering items. On thieving days I will open every container, and food containers will always yield a few pieces of wax. Vvardenfell farming also helps because urns have decent drop rates for wax. A single run of Dreloth tomb yields 4-5 bits on average. Monastery in Shimmerene has a few cabinets that can drop wax, and they conveniently hang right above beds and lootable nightstands. I've not tried Direnni Acropolis in a long time, but I remember it having a lot of urns too. Blue Alinor plans sell for a good amount of money these days.

Mudcrabs and beetles drop both alchemy ingredients and wax, and at better rates than wasps. I just habitually kill any group of mudcrabs I pass by.

I have toons parked at Dreloth. I did 6 runs last night (I usually park 10 there to ensure I dont hit a CD timer). and I yielded I 4 wax total.

I decided to head to farm mud crabs for an hour instead and yielded 2.

So then with that dismal failure I farmed beetles in alkir and I think I yielded about 3 after an hour.

Today I went to farm for heartwood. 1800 mats roughly between silk, wood and ore yielded me ONE temper. That's it and about 7 heartwood.

My GF was even in amazement that my luck is this poor, which seems to be going beyond "luck" and she sent me 30 heartwood.

I don't know if my account is debuffed, I don't know if ZoS reduced drop rates, I don't know if all farming is shared with hidden cooldowns, but what I can say is the amount of effort put in and the rewards was....well, not even remotely satisfying. In fact, it was a huge turn off and made me stop playing for the evening.

Agreed. I'd rather farm gear than wax. It's really a bit of a joke and the prices are so insane now it almost makes it not worth it to buy new homes knowing that decorating them is a pain in the bum.

Unfortunately, the same thing is happening to furniture recipes. With them being locked (more or less) behind stealing, the prices for even a 'normal' purple is in the 6 digits and up...
