I'd like the ability to just plain stop getting green companion gear. Just have my UI pretend it doesn't even exist.
I'd like Mirri only to give me negative Rapport for looting a bug if I actually take the contents. If a bug I can't even see gets in front of or otherwise has its hitbox interfere with a skyshard or wayshrine, I should be able to avoid the negative Rapport. I'd like Bastian to stop chiding me for killing critters that I absolutely did not aim at and the ESO just decided for me that I would hit instead of the enemy dead in the middle of my crosshairs. My companions are the game, and the game should never yell at me for ITS OWN FLAWS!
Leveling companions, leveling their skills, and leveling their rapport is simply too slow. I'm far beyond being beyond being bored with it.

Make an expedition mechanic where you give them all your surveys and they collect it for you but isn't affected by the CP perks.
This could be interesting. Have each survey take, say, 15 minutes for the companion to collect. That companion is unusable while they're collecting the surveys but you can set them to collect while you're offline or on another character. Have the option to recall the companion early and they only have as many crafting ingredients as they were able to collect in the time frame but cancels the other surveys they weren't able to complete, putting them back in your inventory.
I do daily crafting writs on all of my toons nearly every day for the money and crafting ingredients, and wind up with a huge stack of surveys within a few days. Having the option to send companions after them would be SUPER helpful and allow me time to actually, you know, play the game.
If they add any more in the future, I would like some ways to not have to go through the grind of having to do all of the Mages Guild and Fighters guild dailies all over again and again to unlock the skills. Same for any other skills to be unlocked for each, skill unlocks should be account wide for every companion.
Helmets! It makes no sense that they go to battle without a visible head protection, their uniqueness is made by the dialogs, stories, not a visible face.
I'd primarily like a few tweaks to the companions' combat abilities and AI.
Firstly, I'd like to see a fix for Destructive Blast when using a frost staff and Provoke. Destructive Blast with a frost staff taunts an enemy, but the skill's cooldown is 16 seconds while the taunt is only 15 seconds, so the companion will always lose taunt for a moment. With regard to Provoke, the skill's cooldown is 12 seconds while the taunt is 15 seconds, and the companion won't use the ability on an enemy that's already taunted. If there's only one enemy, that's fine, but if there's multiple (say, a boss with adds) the companion will use Provoke on an add because it doesn't have a taunt on it and lose taunt on the main boss.
Secondly, companions should begin combat by moving into range to use their first ability, not only moving far enough to light attack. Bastian has several magicka Dragonknight skills with a range of 5 meters, but if you want him to truly complete the aesthetic by using a staff, he'll rarely use his equivalent of Molten Whip and Burning Embers because he'll stay too far away. Additionally, he'll never use his Ultimate because he needs to be in melee range. Instead, if he has melee-range skills equipped, he should start combat by moving close enough to use his first skill. This behavior also causes some problems with companion gap closers -- because companions always move into whatever range is necessary for their light attacks to land, certain combinations of gap closers and weapon types are redundant (for example, if Mirri has daggers equipped but has her equivalent of Teleport Strike slotted, she'll walk over to the enemy and then use her gap closer).
Thirdly, I'd like to see the companion Blood Altar synergy also heal the casting companion for half of their health, too. A small tweak that would help keep companions alive on classes that don't have heals that can be aimed at allies.
Finally, with regard to later companions, I'd like to see a better balance of support abilities and damaging abilities. Bastian has Fiery Grip, Obsidian Shield, and his version of Molten Armaments provides a unique buff to light and heavy attacks; all of these are useful to a good player, but poor Mirri is stuck with mostly damaging skills when her damage isn't spectacular to begin with.
I think a good compromise to companions wearing helmets would be to allow us to put helmets on their outfits but only show the helmets for other players. This would mean that your own companion is still recognizable while cutting down on the amount of clones you see behind other players.
I'm sure all the companion dialog was cute and interesting when written, but after I've heard the same lines 1000 times, all I really want is for them to shut up. I'd settle for a "Shut up permanently!" option.
Tbh I have the opposite opinion to some peoples' suggestions. I wish they'd follow me CLOSER when on foot. Mirri's so far away that I sometimes forget she's there. She's like Gimli trying to keep up with Aragorn (me) and Legolas (my pet) whenever we go anywhere.
I've never had the issue of companions getting in the way.
I also wish they had more things to say. Again, I don't really get how some people are already annoyed that they talk so much. I forget that they're even with me most of the time since they're pretty quiet to me. I think the frequency of their comments is fine.
It'd be nice if they could wear helmets or use some more of the collectibles we have, specifically adornments and hairstyles.
Oh, and that suggestion about how they shouldn't treat using the Blade of Woe on an enemy the same as if it were used on a civilian. I never use it on civilians, yet Mirri freaks out every time I use it on some cultist that's we know is trying to sacrifice people to daedra. Mirri is for some reason completely fine with me turning into a werewolf and eating people, though.
