I was in IC yesterday along with some people from the guild farming bosses.

It was a one-off thing so I didn't bother changing the build or crafting PvP gear - I don't really engage in this activity anymore so it wasn't worth crafting/reconstituting PvP gear for a 2 hr 'thing'.

Encounters went as well as you can imagine when 0 effort was put into it. Said that I wasn't 'ganked' or 'bombed' once, neither at flags nor at boss fights. I was plenty 'streaked' and 'necroblasted' though then 'steamrolled' in the sewers while I was soloing a boss (not that I would have posed any threat to that particular group even if I was sitting there waiting for them instead).

Still, I walked away with a bunch of the new monster set helmets, a couple of antiquity leads and some tel-var spare change and it was more fun than I anticipated so all was well.

On topic though, no one around looked desperate to me. Everyone seemed to be doing what they had set out to do just fine.

My ganks are just out of control.

    I love your post
Bold of you to assume IC has players outside of events.

IC has players, but much less, and usually it's the same people every day - some are solo, some are in small group, some are in large group (mindlessly steamrolling everyone they see and farm bosses). Sometimes there are rare players doing quests too.

I like IC outside of events for interesting meetings :) If I see enemy player and he is not on my "disrespect" list, I come close and watch. What happens next, always depends on enemy player's actions.

I have few enemy players whom I respect and won't damage ever (unless they want to duel, of course). After time, some players forget this, but some players remember. I met one old DC player during this event, he and his friend were attracting and farming large group of my allies. At first they started attacking me as well (it was long time since I was in IC), but then the name clicked I guess, so they stopped.
I also met one old EP player, but he doesn't remember - so he will be attacked like any random enemy.

Generally, when it's not event, I can safely watch enemy groups who farm bosses, or watch nice fights between two enemy groups. Or watch/participate in some duels. IC for me is not really PvP, but RP :) For pure mindless PvP, I have Battlegrounds - and to some degree Cyrodiil.

There is life in IC even without events:

This is a PvP leaderboard Grand Overlord.

Most of us, experienced PvPers aren't interested in ganking PvEers. We have a war to fight. We like fighting against renowned PvPers and have fun.

Those you met in Cyrodiil or IC who desperately pick PvEers as their prey usually aren't one of us.

Many of us rather have a shorter queue and more real PvP fights on the battlefield.

I only WISH that were true. The was an alliance war lvl50(grand Overlord right?) along with a lvl27 and lvl35 sitting in Cheydinhal all jumping PvE questers(3 on 1) just doing the daily for the endeavor...these pitiful DC obviously didn't care about a challenge, or the alliance war, or anything but easy AP. (lol, they killed me when I went in on my PvE tank just quickly completing the endeavor...no surprise there).....so now I make a habit of killing them any way I can any time I see them in the scummiest way possible. I will wait till they are being chased by a zerg and low on health them jump in with a dragon leap, shoot them with coldfire, etc etc. I will happily admit that they are better PvPers than I am...but turnabout is fair play.

All in all it really wasn't bad in terms of people actively hunting down PvEers this event; at least in the noCP EU places I've been.

Except yesterday. Yesterday it felt like half the AD and DC population had nothing better to do but go after every PvEer they found in IC, and camp out at the most likely places they'd come from and go back to the Sewer Base through. They only briefly stopped when they could hunt down a larger group, but swiftly returned to camping again.

    It was puzzling.

As per my usual policy, I did all my IC quests BEFORE the event started.

If somebody attacked me, then or during the event, I just didn't fight back.

Well, there was one pretty hapless individual who attacked me while I was at the flag of a resource I'd soloed. I fought him the same way I'd fight a PvE enemy, and I won. But unfortunately two real PvPers from the third alliance showed up before the flip completed. :(

I like to PvP from time to time, but will more often PvE(I did finally try out battlegrounds for the endeavor and that was a actually a lot of fun...makes a BIG difference when its small-group that isn't pre-made and no CP...its not get stunned 20 times before you can fire off your first skill). I don't see any hate in this thread, only sad truths about some PvP players taking advantage of PvE players who either don't have the builds or the PvP experience.

Look at this from some PvE player's perspective: ZOS claims they can wear their same gear and skills into PvP zones...and while that is techincally true...the PvE player logs into the CP campaign(because they foolishly want to utilize their CP...CP that is set up for PvE) and start riding to wherever the fight is. On the way there they get ganked by some nightblade with a one-shotting snipe build....so they die and have to res at the keep...so they go back...this time maybe they are more wary and go on foot so they don't get sniped off their horse...this time they manage to get a block in and maybe heal some, and hit the nightblade a time or two. Said nightblade just runs away and stealths until they are at full resources again...then comes back and finishes them off(of course the PvE player doesnt have any type of flare or magelight slotted). So the player tries again and finally manages to make it to the fight location without being ganked...this person still isn't in a group, not realizing how terrible survivability is as a single person in Cyro...but hey, they see a single player running around a tower and think "hey, I might have a chance to get a kill in here" so they go chase this guy around the tower...unbeknownst to them this is some warden with the latest cancer build that kills them in about 3 seconds flat. So, being sick of trying to do anything alone, they post in zone chat asking for a group....they are promptly ignored.

You tell me...is that an experience that would make you want to come back and try PvP again? I am by no means a good PvP player...but I do manage to go in a couple purpose-built PvP toons and have some fun and get some kills(I tend to stick to no-CP campaigns because I have no interest in fighting people that never die) but if I had just come from PvE to check it out...heck no, its a miserable experience for a first time player and the vast majority of it is caused by ZOS refusing to separate out PvP skills and sets...PvP players taking sets mean for PvE and using them to build cancer builds, causing nerfs to the PvE effectiveness of those sets, the huge disparity of PvE and PvP builds is always evident every MYM. PvP sets and skills should ONLY be usable in PvP zones and vice versa...this way no PvP player will ever have to farm PvE content for some set....ZOS could easily revisit all the tons of PvP sets not often used instead...they could nerf anything overperforming in PvP without hurting utilization in PvE, same thing with skills....much easier to balance PvP if you aren't trying to balance it against PvE at the same time.

I actually learned I have gotten better at PVP. I actually got multiple kills on other players and even once won against two other players at once.

Sure there was likely a huge amount of luck in my combat but still, I could tell I actually got better.

I can usually tell really quickly by how much damage I take from a single hit whether it's worth it to even try to fight back.

Last event I managed to kill a few attackers, but this event a lot of players seem to be packing a much harder punch, so I usually just stand there and let them kill me.

If I'm finished with the daily, I just return to base, turn it in, and grab the one in the next district.

Otherwise, I just keep heading back to the same district until I finish that daily, no matter how often I get killed.

I managed to collect everything from the event on both servers, so I'm happy.

Now I'm going to head back to Cyrodiil on PCEU just to run around collecting skyshards, doing delves, and maybe clearing all of the dolmens, which is something I've yet to do on that server.

I'm always trying to figure out if it's even worth it to fight back too. If I noticed I could only do a tiny bit of damage to the player, I'd just run and find at least one other ally otherwise I won't be able to fight them at all. I usually die though. 1v1ing a person you can't really kill because they have more health and can spam heal isn't fun and it certainly isn't a difference in skill. It's especially annoying when you run into a zerg or see them appearing behind you. At that point, I know I can't fight and I can't run either because usually the mages can shoot me through walls and one single hit sucks my stamina completely.

Best part was when one of these unkillable players started tea-bagging me the three times he killed me after the one time I attacked him and someone else on my team killed him. I guess that means I was a worthy opponent even though it was literally impossible for me to kill him in a 1v1 because he'd spam heals.

There were a few times where I actually got lucky and could somehow kill the other person because I did more damage to them and they couldn't heal as much as those other players that heal basically to 100% every time they take damage.

I've been saying the same things for a while but PvPers are content with how PvP works and don't want to listen to PvErs' complaints, unfortunately. It's always "you lack skill" or whatever, despite the fact that dying to a player with a massive health bar and the ability to heal themselves every time they take damage isn't skill whatsoever. They just have better stuff. And the opinions of people trying PvP for the first time are 100% valid. Like you said, if your first experience with a game is that you basically can't do anything at all without doing tons of research and grinding for better gear just to even kill a single random player (and our complaints are NOT that we can't dominate the field) then you obviously aren't going to want to PvP. PvP can totally be fun, but it certainly isn't fun when you're starting out, and that's very unfortunate since your first impression is what makes you decide whether to keep playing or not.

People also say, "Well, they're veterans! Why should you be able to kill a veteran player?" which I think is incredibly flawed logic. It's a competitive game where you're meant to kill other players. If 90% of players are "veterans" you shouldn't be able to kill, what's the point in even playing? You'll just die before you even have a chance to try and fight back because your weapons, armor, skills, etc. aren't as good as other players'. The issue with PvP, to me, is that, while it's cool that everyone can customize their character however they like, success in PvP is mostly determined by who has better equipment. That's where it becomes unfair, because not everyone knows how to get that equipment. And when you ask PvPers for help, they always link you to some external source on how to make an adequate build for PvP. You shouldn't have to consult 3rd party sources to understand a game.

Not on this one perhaps, but one only needs to scroll the forums before, during, and after EVERY mid year mayhem event.
ZOS claims they can wear their same gear and skills into PvP zones...and while that is techincally true...

...PvP players taking sets mean for PvE

These two statements contradict each other. If a PvE player can take any set into PvP zone, why can't a PvPer take any set into a PvP zone?

And, by the way, the set doesn't make the player. It's the player that makes the set shine.
Look at this from some PvE player's perspective[\quote]

Look at it from a PvPers perspective. We only get this event and the IC event. Nearly zero updates to PvP campaigns or objectives at all. Yet, PvEers, during our only events, lecture us on how we may legitimately play our chosen content, call PvP garbage (just today, someone posted that PvP is a toxic waste dump), and call for its removal despite it being a feature from the beginning. Generally speaking, at least on the forums, PvE-only folks will argue with us when we offer advice. They often refuse to prepare accordingly before entering a PvP zone. YET, for PvE content, they will chastise anyone for not practicing a rotation, farming the right gear for end game/vet content, or for having a hybrid/non-meta build.

That all being said, I do believe that ZOS should do a better job at preparing people for various modes of gameplay, whether trials, vet/dlc content, or for PvP. And I would be totally in favor of separating PvE and PvP in terms of balance, sets, etc.

Even outside MYM I've been completely ignored in zone chat trying to group up, so I've always struggled and eventually just leave.
