I used to destroy all these scrolls for very long time, but then I suddenly thought: "What if someday there will be new trait added for research? Maybe I can save scrolls and not have to waste skill points on my crafter once again (like I had to do when Jewelry crafting was introduced)..." So I collect these research scrolls, just in case.
I just keep a storage chest dedicated to stuff from the daily log in rewards.
As for learning the traits on alts just for the hell of it I did it alongside the daily riding lessons on my alts, finished that up around end of February on my 17 alts, getting a decent number of master writs these days to hoard for double XP events or sell on traders.
Just because you not planning on using something right now does not mean you won't change your mind sometime later.
I had thousands of crown tri pots that I had been putting in storage for years I stared using them once they made them equal to crafted potions still haven't exhausted the supply.

Sure, I can do that, but I'm just saying this is poorly designed and could be improved.
Instead of being rewarded you are punished by having to destroy one item because you no longer need it...
Punished?
Punished?
Holy hyperbole, Batman. Sure it might be a little inconvenient but calling it a punishment is a bit of a stretch.
Punishment, yikes...

You never know when ZOS will add additional crafting down the line.
In fact I suspect in a year or so companion armor and traits may become craftable as a "new" feature. Then I will have dozens of research scrolls at the ready.

My mains do the master writs, yes - but with other 50s heading toward master crafter, they're getting a lot more writs to do.

It doesn't always double the number (though that's happened for me enough that I appreciate it), but I'd say it improves it enough to make it worth the small amount of effort.
Your master crafter can make level 1 weapons/armor for the second crafter to research so it doesn't even have to cost much - though I have LOADS of gear in banks still so most of my secondaries are just researching stuff that's not "great" when it comes to weapons/armor.
(...)Are you saying that researching traits increases your chances of getting master writs?

For Blacksmithing, Clothier, and Woodworking, this means motif knowledge and overall completion of trait research. This does not include Crown-exclusive motifs or motifs for the 9 base player races. It focuses on motifs that take some effort to learn – like Xivkyn, or Minotaur, or Celestial.
For Provisioning, this is instead your collection of known purple and gold recipes as they are a strong overall representation of dedication to craft.
With Enchanting, we instead look at the total overall rune word translations you’ve completed on that character.
And with Alchemy, we look at how many reagents from which you’ve completely learned all effects.
Over time, the contributing factors for this may expand as the associated tradeskill mechanics do.
Maybe it would make sense to have a tiered ESO plus. I never used the poisons, I like the trip pots but rarely use them. The instant research is okay but it only takes a day off the research and some research takes 10 days or more. The food I use but I can craft better. Maybe it's time for a overhaul of daily log in rewards.
90% of them are useless.
Crown food and drink, Mimic stones and poisons are absolute trash.
