The exchange where the person was asked about a drop and then responded that they would now destroy it is toxic. It is not harassment, but it is toxic.

How, in your opinion, does "toxic" differ from "rude"?

This sort of one-shot interaction is not a big deal on either side.

If someone doesn't like a person peeking at stuff that the game has made "private" finds a person annoying; all they need to do is say "no" and that's the end of it.

If some peeking person makes a request that they considered polite and are not politely answered; they don't need to even respond to the rudeness; just walk away and that's the end of it.

After spending over 4 hours today running normal Castle Thorn, a member of my party got the much desired "Unleashed Terror Greatsword," a weapon I greatly desired. Seeing they got the drop with the loot log addon, I asked them if they needed it and if not, if I could have it. They replied that they would have given it to me if I wasn't a "Loot Spy." They proceeded to immediately add me to their ignore list and refused further communication.

Unless you have spent dozens of hours farming for gear yourself, you really have no right to criticize other people for trying to make a painful grind much less time consuming. If you have ever denied someone else loot because they used an addon to track the dozens of item drops in a dungeon to make sure that YOU don't have to scan for the stuff they asked for at the beginning, then you are truly the lowest kind of player.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but no matter how many hours you spent in a dungeon.. you're not entitled to anyone's loot... People don't like being spied on with these addons that allow people to see other people's loot. I definitely had my fair share of desperate people spamming up my whispers asking me for loot that I've received that I've not yet announced in group chat.. It's borderline harassment, and I find that rude. I try to be nice by not answering, but people simply don't take a hint. If people continue harassing me for my loot I just port on over to my house where I go to my crafting stations and just decon it for the sake of it.

What if someone just asks if you need item X? What is the possible harassment in asking?
If you dont need it you can give or sell it to that person.

If you do need it, just say: yes, I need item X.

I have never had anyone keep insisting that I should give them item X and only a couple people offered money which is fair enough, its still my choice to accept or decline that offer. On PC EU I have not experienced strange behavior when asking for gear, its either a yes/no answer or no reply.

Deconstructing gear that someone needs because they use an add-on to see group loot is a very spiteful thing to do in my opinion. Many players just play one role or build, all gear that doesnt fit that role gets deconned so it only makes sense to ask if you see an item drop that you need.

Do not like loot spys - so i can not say that thing they do is bad.

Good solution of problem by the way.

But when people wright about thingth they need in party chat - it is OK i give it to them.

For some rare parts i even do like - casino - if the people do some random thingth i imagin i give it, if he do not i do not give it =)

As example - if he ask before boss - and did not die all the fight - item is yours.

Or if he wright it in prty chat - ok maybe - if he say like - can give some money revard (even do not care about is it big or not) - ok.

But if PM like - "Do you need this" - do not like to give some thing to loot addon spyers.

So no pity at all - you already make people mad with your addon.

Once people stole item from me with it when we farm for my friend and i give it by mistake.

So - NICE SOLUTION ! Do not use addons for spy other people loot ! Or do not ninja chat to PM at least.

If you need gear.. speak up before initiating the trial/dungeon.

Nothing wrong with asking, just don't whisper me asking for my loot when I haven't even advertised it in group chat, and especially don't whisper me asking for my loot seconds after we kill the boss.

My loot belongs to me.. not anyone else. Nobody is entitled to my loot at any given point. sending me desperate whispers is harassment and annoying.

Oh and perfect example.. I was farming for Medusa necklace in Arx Corinium... It took me a couple of days to finally get it. One of the pugs in 1 of the groups we were in got it in one of the chest loot.. I did ask to obtain it ahead of time.. at the beginning of the dungeon run.. After the pug got the necklace.. Not once did I think about pestering him for the necklace.. I wasn't entitled to it.. no matter how long I've been farming the dungeon.. People either volunteer for it or they're searching for it as well.

    No need to pester people.

Believe it or not, but 99% of players will not be pestered by you asking them for loot, but 100% of players will be royally peeved if you refuse to share loot out of spite.

    Fixed for ya.

The problem here is that the word "share" in this context is sometimes by some people interpreted as "you have it, I want it so gimmie"

    Yes X may have it.
    Yes Y may want it.

There is NO obligation, no "owing" no nothing.

Y has the "option" to share, if they choose or not as they choose.

If someone wants it and I has it and doesn't share it - that doesn't make it spite. It just makes it "no".

I understand that people have a real-life... however and I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but yall need to go pester ZOS to make a better looting system than what they have up now. I'm not the developer.. I'm just a player just like you and I. Let me tell you something. If you want something really bad in life.. you'll make room for obtaining that special something. If you don't put up enough time, you don't deserve it. I've spent trying to farm for The Lightning Staff of Alkosh for my tank for about a couple of years now.. all the times I've spent in nMOL.. Not once did I get it. One group that I was in someone managed to get it.. I didn't even once think about pestering that person for it.. not one time. He got his loot and that was it.

My way of contributing to our community is by purchasing maximum character slots on my account. I've made a healer and a tank. My way of contributing is to volunteer to switch my character if the Craglorn pug group is struggling to find a tank or a healer to start the pug trial up. Again.. nobody is entitled to get my loot.. nobody but myself.
