The price of gold requested by players and related discord/guilds is growing continuously, like 700: 1 right now, when you ZOS decide that this thing has to stop?
@Viewsfrom6ix @ThePlayer And how is ZOS supposed to make an official exchange rate? And why should they? As in, what is their interest in having this rate firmly set and not set by the players?

Had ZoS been a bit smart they let us buy an crown lockerbox with say 1000 crowns.**AlnilamE ** as **Viewsfrom6ix** wrote--> ZOS have to sets a standard rate and make crown to gold a formalized process via the trade window.
Also for the general respect of all ESO players, coz in many cases, in addition to the fact that the trading price is high (already a cheat in itself), many of these players are definitely cheated by other players who take the money and then disappear (and here the birth of the middleman = financial loan sharks).

I'm not here to argue that they should. I simply said I don't mind. But it would be really nice to trade gold and crown gifts via the trade window instead of playing the trust game.

Ah, I misunderstood what you were saying. And yes, I wouldn't mind them adding an official trade window for it. That would be a great QoL.

I disagree with ZoS setting a standard rate. As long we do not break ToS, there is no reason for ZOS to interfere with our trade transactions.
Also if ZOS starts to sell gold in crown shop, it will be p2w.
And also direct crown to gold transaction via trade window is bad idea for the same pay to win reasons. Just for example: what if I just buy 100k crowns and buy billions gold with it just to acquire best trading spot for my freshly formed trading guild with only 3 persons in it? Goodbye top trade guilds, I just paid real money to throw your out of Vivec! Or what if guilds start to pay real money to buy all your expensive popular stuff and sell them at double price?
However, the problem is not only the price, I can not find sellers even at 600: 1, this game is already full of time wasters .. even this?

I don't care if ZOS sets a rate or not. But the trade window for crown gifts for gold should be in the game. People are already doing it by trading gold first and getting the gift afterwards and scammers take advantage of this.
I don't think anyone suggested to sell gold in the crown store. So not sure why you brought it up.
You do realize people already buy gold with real money via third party sites right?
Also, in your example you make it sound so easy to find someone with 30m gold lying around and willing to buy 100k crowns.

^^ This. The seller puts their price per crown in, and the buyer chooses how many crowns they want up to the maximum the seller has available. Both have to confirm before the trade is completed. Safe and simple.

I like how gw2 did it, was an auction board of sorts.
