I just don't want the Crown Store to be the only Source.Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

In the end, it is of no importance since you can't even place them in your house unless you want to sacrifice half your placed mounts and pets, because both occupy the same furnishing type.

While I don't mind having options for those who want them, even one guest rewarded from questlines for the following: AD, DC, EP, Wrothgar, Thieve's Guild, Dark Brotherhood, Morrowind, Summerset, Elsweyr, and Skyrim; is already max slots for even the biggest homes with ESO+ leaving no space for a pet, mount or assistants. ✭YesI think it will be mixed, but of course I want it to be just from achievements. ;P
In the case of NPCs you meet during quests (like Sereyne, who has been datamined as an upcoming houseguest), those at least should be earned through gameplay. That would make her presence in your house really special, I think--if you had to earn her friendship.1 -

In the official feedback thread I suggested pricing should be similar to pets, 400 to 1k gold, with them mostly being around 700 gold, though I added that if they offered Bard NPC guests, these could be worth 1.2k to 1.5k gold as they would double as music for the house.
I did also state that earnable guests should be added in, again this would put them on a par with pets, where we have a mix of ones we can earn and ones we can buy.

Also, please add more slots in houses for this category! As soon as I hopped on the PTS to try pathing (in my Grand Topal Guild Island copy from NA - which is open for anyone who wishes to visit, btw) I quickly discovered that the limit is a serious problem.
I have a very cute little display on the beach of a little guar family in a shed. (2 mounts and a pet).
Banker, merchant, and fence - that's 3 more, so 6 out of 10.
A pet fox in a relaxing beach picnic spot brings it up to 7, which only leaves 3 spots for houseguests.
And some people like both types of merchants/bankers in guild homes.
If ZOS really wants to sell houseguests in the crown store, they should give us enough slots to use them!Event Tracker addon (PC NA/EU)

Sprinkling them into the game requires a lot more effort, such as figuring out where, then coding it in, then hearing people on the forum whine that this-or-that-houseguest is locked behind some-content-or-other that they don't like to do.0 -

Players in guild wars 2 stick around for years just to do achievements because it unlocks things to play with.2 -

Alcast mentioned this during a livestream before covid when he was with ZOS employees in the flesh. They seemed interested, you can look at this change (about 6-8 months after the suggestion) as a stepping stone.
This feature seemingly came out of nowhere, I'm willing to bet they're trying to find a way to allow us to do something with our alts.1 -

But I totally support the idea of getting these and different houseguest NPCs from achievements
