Selling Greymoor for gold in ESO

MarciusVetrack
Can i sell the Chapter Greymoor for Gold, in ESO? In my opinion is the same as selling gold for irl money.
I see a bunch of users in some discords offering to sell Greymoor for 3kk gold, and i think this is a *** off, and ilegal, right Zenimax?

Nopes...because you cannot get it for crowns.

If you could gift the chapter from the crown store then yeapers. If it is for irl cash it is a giant no, from what I was told

Best to ask ZOS themselves to be extra triple sure.

No. You can only exchange in-game items for in-game items (crowns count as in-game currency and not real life legal tender). Since the chapter is only available for real money, it is against the TOS to sell for gold and you can be banned.

Seems the same as crown gifting but with more steps. In the end ZoS is still getting the cash so I don't think it really matters.

    I don't think so.
Selling gold; buyer receives gold and seller receives RL money. Zenimax gets NOTHING. - NOT ALLOWED
Selling Crown Store Items: buyer gets Crown Store Item, seller receives gold and Zenimax get the RL Money. - ALLOWED
Selling Greymoor; buyer receives Greymoor, seller receives gold and Zenimax get the RL Money. - ???

It's all basic math equation. So, there is basically no difference between Crown Store gifting and Selling Greymoor in my opinion. Though, this doesn't mean it's legal or illegal. It's always up to ZOS to decide if it's allowed or not. If you ask me it shouldn't be a bannable trade since ZOS get their money anyways.

ZOS stated when crown store gifting came about, only things traded IN GAME were allowed. Crowns, items, gold, skin runs, all in game. You can't gift a chapter in game, therefore its not allowed. Doesn't matter if ZOS gets money or not. It's selling gold.

Even supposing the transaction is illegal, how are they going to tell the difference between a transaction and someone buying it to gift a friend? And then a friend can't give you gifts in-game?
And a year from now it'll be a DLC and the question will be moot. Seems like splitting hairs.

Read my message carefully man. I didn't say anything about selling Greymoor is being allowed or not. I just told my opinion. But what you don't get is selling Greymoor is not selling gold. They are completely different. You can make in-game gold and sell it without paying anything and earn money over the game which is not accepted.

To be able to sell crown items you pay MONEY to ZOS, get crowns and sell it in-game and earn gold and it's allowed.
To sell Greymoor, you again pay MONEY to ZOS in behalf of someone else and earn gold in-game which is basically same with only few extra steps as someone else also told above. What I am saying is since there is no difference between this 2, it shouldn't be bannable. AGAIN; this is just my own opinion and it's up to ZOS to decide it's allowed or not.

Selling gold doesn't have to be for straight money. Selling gold is transferring gold to an account for something you received not in game. Gold for a sub on twitch, a gift card to your favorite restaurant, something from amazon, if its not in game, its not allowed. Your opinion means nothing, because only selling in game things is allowed.

    Bannable? Sure

...will they actually do anything about it? No.

There are people in this game on the xbox na that have been selling gold and buying from bots for 5 straight years without getting banned on their main tag. The largest gold seller in the game is still active. He has boasted on many social media platforms of the letters he has gotten with warnings, but never a ban. If zenimax doesn't care enough about their game to enforce the terms of service on these individuals, why would they come after you ?

Risking an account worth thousands for something under 100 usd is stupid.

Sure the seller will have an alt account but what about the buyer?

It is not worth losing your account and people have....

If someone bought it second hand from Craigslist or a bargain bin with IRL dollars, are they going to ban both the buyer and seller?
Realistically ZOS probably doesn't care because they got their money already.
Same with Gifting -- ultimately ZOS got their money already.

it will be perfectly allowed in about 12 or 13 months, until then its a breach of media, meaning real world code for ingame gold, which is against of the ToS.

When it will become giftable for crowns, it will be allowed.

This is the correct answer though there is no reason to ask Zos. There is no way to purchase a chapter or any part of the chapter from inside of the game during its first year. Historically, Zos had made the zone and trial part into a DLC after the first year but that is obviously a year away.

The amount of open RMT in this game is insane. I have reported quite a few people who either have sold their accounts multiple times for over thousands of dollars and sell their gold they make from carries for money. Even sold their accounts for nudes one of these godslayers did. Zos haven't done anything to these people and they continue to sell their accounts and gold for money. Look at the new trials and godslayer carries where they will even log into the person's account and do the run for them on there. At least one of these people are class representatives even. Zos won't do anything about it.

It is not like that because the price is not the same depending of the region.
Also, you can buy cheaper that it is in the Zeni store for your region:

i have had this same convo with a person trying to sell greymore in my guild and i will give the same answer here.
Selling greymoore for in game gold is against ZOS Terms of Service, you are receiving in game gold for an item that NEEDS to be purchased OUTSIDE of the game for IRL money, the ONLY things that can be "sold" are item that are already in game or items that can be gifted from the crown store. any names i see trying to sell greymore will be reported as will players selling accounts ect ect. @ZOS_GinaBruno has already clarified is previous threads what ZOS allows.

It needs to get traction in the forums... since reporting through the "normal" means has accomplished nothing, and those same players are still in the game.

The same players who got banned for exploiting, buying "new" accounts online with real money.

The same players who are selling carry runs then selling the gold online for real money.

The same players who are using VPNs to buy crowns at lower exchange rates, selling them in zone, and converting it back to USD.

ZoS knows the names. They've been reported, numerous times. There just needs to be public pressure for them to clean up the black market in the game.

But, they've got friends who are class reps, friends who have clout in the game (streamers/etc), and they're part of the very small end-game raiding community. Perhaps ZoS has weighed the options and decided to let it go... I hope not, but that's how it feels/looks.

Reports just don't do anything. All that zenimax does is send them a warning. This is not a game where it is impossible to track gold transactions. The game logs all interactions a person has. If zenimax wanted to actually investigate these accounts, they could find the exact second the item was picked up and buy who. There are players on this game that have been violating TOS for 5 years. If zenimax cannot rename a simple furnishing plan (orcish chair, peaked) so that there isn't a duplicate green and purple item even 4 years after they introduced the homestead dlc, how can anyone expect them to enforce their terms of service. Simply put, they do not care about it. People have long stopped reporting the bots, gold sellers, gold buyers, and those cheating. Why would anyone waste their time reporting someone who is going to be in the game the next day. A game like call of duty can wrangle the cheaters in a single week, but for some reason, after 5 years, zenimax still doesn't care to address the issue. It's not that they can't, it is simply that they won't. The whole naming and shaming policy is also asinine in my opinion. The world doesn't work the way, you cannot shield the public. If someone breaks the tos, and they miraculously get banned, the community will know. Imagine the nightly news reading "a local in the community has been accused of breaking and entering neighborhood homes. Unfortunately we cannot tell you who it is for the safety of the individual that is actively committing the crimes. Be safe, you never know who it could be." No company should protect any individual that exploits the tos. If they break the tos, it no longer applies to them. If zenimax wants to enforce their no shaming policy, perhaps they should start by enforcing the other aspects of their tos as well. Not to mention they should also stop praising people in the community that do good. Those people also have had their privacy stripped. Maybe they didn't want the attention, maybe they didn't want the harassment that follows for people that disagree with them.... but in that case, they can't even protect themselves, because they cannot report people for harassment as those people will still be in the game. The way they handle those that break the tos, and their promotion of such activity by not enforcing them, is an insult not only to the company, but the players in the community. It is beyond a joke at this point, and everyone in the game knows it. It is already a shame that players have to monitor each other in this game because Zenimax fails to do it in the first place.

If its able to be a Gift. It’s fine to buy for Gold. They don’t care beyond that.

This is the first MMO I’ve played where streamers talk openly of buying Gold and Selling Items / Accounts.

Due to the open micro transactions in most games now of days. It seems no one cares.

    __________________________Backstories:_________________________

Ras Kalik the Vestige, a renown Redguard warrior; He has been blessed to save Tamriel from Molag Bal’s destructive Planemeld while reuniting the Five Companions. His further accomplishments after defeating Molag Bal, has been to stop the destruction of Morrowind, the Clockwork City, return order to the isle of Summerset and create a new king in Wrothgar and a queen in Elsywer. These events have made him a living legend and continue to lead him into new adventures throughout Tamriel, as well as into the hearts of many ladies including the Elf Queen, Aryenn. Over many years of adventurous travels, Ras Kalik had become a loner, until he re-visited his homeland of Alik'r.

Alik'r and it's cities were overrun by the undead Ra-Netu and therefore he made an allegiance with Alik'r's own Ash'abah tribe. These Ash'abah with his help, cleansed the city of Sentinel in Alik'r desert and it's surrounding areas of the undead brought to life by the Withered Hand. After rescuing Sentinel from the undead zombies, King Fahara’jad’s personal bodyguard the Goliath of Hammerfell, who was given this name by Imperials in the region; was asked to assist the tribe after learning of the defeat of the Withered Hand to the Ash'abah. Kalik promised Goliath he would task him with fighting living enemies on the battlefield if he so desired. Goliath being a Yokudan warrior wields a massive sword in respect to the Ansei, a gift given by the Imperial, Cinan Tharn. Not many soldiers are able to wield double two handed weapons, but Goliath loves to get up and personal in a fight, so he also carries a giant maul, both weapons laced with magical flames.

Jux Blackheart is a master thief that masquerades as a Bard at the Sisters of the Sands inn, with his younger sidekick Lucky Hunch for pilfering and gambling during this time. Jux was known to infiltrate any towns bank vault he came across and even delved into Ayelid ruins without detection. Kalik can vividly recall the night he met the famed thief. Jux found himself rummaging thru a slightly inebriated Kalik’s pocket for too long, on a full-mooned night and because of his greed and the glimmer of his golden armor in the moonlight. He lost his left pinky fingertip as a lesson! But in return, he gained a new friend, as it was his first time since a child being caught red-handed...

Upon arrival back in the Alik'r after many moons of adventuring, Ras Kalik ventures to Bergama. Visiting The Winking Jackal, he runs into Jux Blackheart, who introduces him to the coin game Crowns vs Forebearers (Heads vs Tails) and Golden Dwemer (RBG).... Jux constantly takes gold from the unfortunate thru theft or gambling, his biggest gambling victim is actually his partner in crime known as Lucky Hunch the Gambler. Lucky doesn't mind losing any gold coins to Jux... as Jux saved him from Altmer slavers in Summerset, by stealing a key and sending him on a boat to the mainland years prior. Lucky spent years in slavery with Khajiits in Summerset and picked up the art of subterfuge, using illusion magic disguises and stealing there.

Kaotik Von’Daemon an outcast, and a half-caste between a Breton mother and a Redguard father. Kaotik become a pariah due to his conjuration of Daedra pets. He was taught healing magic during his childhood years by his Breton mother. His father due to Redguard customs exiled him from the desert, sending him by wagon caravan to be a soldier in the war in Cyrodiil. He happened to meet Kalik while traveling from Alik'r, during this long caravan ride the caravan he was in was ambushed in Bangkorai by a group of bandits. Kalik by chance was also traveling thru this area on his Auridon Warhorse (which was bestowed to him by his friend, Darien Gautier). During this ambush, Kalik was able to rescue five hostages from the bandits. Kaotik was the first rescued, and Ras Kalik also recruited him to be in the Ash'abah tribe. These core Ash'abah tribesmen may never be seen together in travel as they partake in their own adventures but they always know what each other is doing; as they frequent a hideout in northern Bankorai. Their hideout an old Orc castle ruin, is kept watch by Nuzhimeh and she passes messages written between them, and frequently they also enjoy her company and her bed.

The other men rescued were a Dunmer banker, an Imperial mercenary and two other soldiers, an Imperial and a Breton Knight, stating proudly he was an Akavir descendent. One of the Imperials, Cinan, claimed to be related to Abnur Tharn the Battlemage of the Imperial Elder Council (One of Ras Kalik's mentors in the Five Companions). Cinan Tharn was really Abnur's drunkard treasure hunting illegitimate son. He was caught smuggling artifacts out of the Ayleid ruins in Cyrodiil and the elder of the two Imperials was Tyrus Septim a retired Imperial navy battle-mage (now a Lycan mercenary living in the city of Rimmen) and guard to the Tharn family. As much as Abnur Tharn hated his half-sister Euraxia, he dislikes his bas†ard son Cinan more. Tyrus now a ruffian and privateer had been paid by Abnur Tharn to watch over Cinan as much as possible. Cinan Tharn a drunkard, loves to drink at least a quarter barrel of Nord mead before he raids various delves and dungeons for relics to sell on the black market. Cinan also plans to one day, run an illegal gambling ring... which he thinks will net him more gold for his wares.

The Dunmer captive shackled to the Imperials looked familiar to Kalik from his time in Morrowind.... and he recognized him as Tythis Andromo a House Telvanni slave-owner and banker from Vvardenfell. During a rough interrogation to Tythis, Ras Kalik learnt why the bandits accosted him. The racist Dunmer was providing slaves as soldiers for the Three Banner War. The bandits were trying to negotiate a lucrative ransom for Andromo and the Imperials.... Kalik did not need any of this gold and he could never set Tythis free as he did with the two Imperial soldiers. His past involvement with slavery and war crimes, made Kalik's blood boil. He chose not to execute Tythis, as he figured the worse punishment for this former rich and opulent slave owner, is to now be an imprisoned servant for Ras Kalik and the tribe.

Herzog Zwei the Genesis a reknown Imperial/Akavirri battle-mage. His roots going back to Akavir through his mother’s bloodline. (His mother is descended from the Akaviri, through Versidue-Shae, and his Imperial father met her in Hakoshae, while traveling) Herzog earned the nickname "the Genesis" from his father as a child, as he was his mother's first born child, and last, as she tragically died in child-birth.

Herzog was seeking to purchase an artifact from Cinan Tharn, before their capture and was meeting Tyrus while in Rimmen, who introduced him to Cinan. This artifact being the Ayelid artifact; the sword Sinweaver. After their rescue and the exchange of gold to Cinan for the sword he decided to slip away before Ras Kalik could question who he was, and why the Akavir descendant really wanted that sword. Herzog was headed to Nagastani — An Ayleid ruin in eastern Cyrodiil. He had read in scrolls that the Sword would give him magical powers to meet his mothers spirit, if he performed an Ayleid ritual at an old shrine hidden there. Equipped with the artifact sword, he was off to start his own adventure but Ras Kalik, did indeed notice the sword however and instead sent a letter to Jux Blackheart (whom also was interested in Ayleid treasures), to attempt to find Herzog and acquire the sword. (*Azani Blackheart in Elder Scroll's Oblivion is Jux's descendant some 747 years later)

And so the Redguard, Imperial and Akaviri men parted ways ... While Ras Kalik went off to Elsweyr to encounter the latest threat to Tamriel, with Abnur Tharn and Sai Sahan - - DRAGONS!! Little did Ras Kalik know a few people were awaiting him in Senchal besides Sai. A necromancer survived his attack on the Withered Hand, while in Alik'r. The necromancer known as Auriek Siet'ka is also following him to the land of the Khajiits and Cacique the Sage of Ius a Shaman mystic who has become attuned spiritually with Tu'whacca (a Redguard God) and Ius (the Animal God), after being burned severely by the escaped dragons in Elsywer, is awaiting his arrival also. Aurik is a soldier of the Daggerfall Covenant that was introduced to necromancy while in the military, even though this magicka art is not spoken of openly by most of the Military leaders. He came to Alik'r and worked with the Withered Hand before Ras Kalik intervened on their plans. After the defeat of the Withered Hand, he aligned with the Worm Cult, and is constantly adapting and perfecting his necromantic arts.

After his journey to Rimmen, Kalik heads south to Senchal, in the southern regions of Elyswer. This new adventure will also put him on a path to meet a strange Redguard man. The stranger which was infected with an untreated Peyrite disease and also was the exiled from the Order of the New Moon cult, due to his sickness. He originally joined the cult to worship Laatvulon, the green dragon, mistakenly thinking it was the Daedric prince Peyrite. This confused and suffering cultist is known as Tsar al-Bomba and he is on a path to spread the disease. He was originally infected in Orccrest while recruiting members there. Can Ras Kalik and the shaman Cacique cure this poor soul, only time will tell. Little does Tsar al-Bomba know, that his infection is tied to Vampirism, and eventually the desire for blood will take over his mind. Senchal also offers Kalik his latest love interest... Aeliah. Whom he fondly led thru battles with the Dragonguard.

After the trek thru the heat, tropical and desert climate of Northern and Southern Elyswer, Ras Kalik heads north to the cold mountain range of Skyrim. His companion friend Lyris beckons for him with a letter sent by crow...

Movárth Piquine - a former vampire hunter (now infected), within the Fighter's Guild (and a secretive necromancer) was in Skyrim working with the Morthaal Guard. On a patrol mission he was caught in Frewien's ice curse outside of Morthaal with the frozen undead. Movárth's vampiric infection kept him from becoming an undead minion to the curse. He was able to use necromantic ice-magic to encase himself safely until he was freed with Freiwen, when the Vestige Ras Kalik broke the curse.

Uri Ice-Heart - brother of Urfon Ice-Heart. The twin sons of Atli and Oljourn Ice-Heart. The Ice-Heart family are originally from Markarth but now reside on the Jerall Mountain range near Cyrodiil, with their younger sister Araki. The twins had joined the Winterborn Reachmen while living in Markarth. Urfon pushed west to Orsinium with the Winterborn Clan, leaving his family behind. Uri stayed behind with his parents and sister to live in the family cabin for safety, avoiding the Vampire plague infiltrating the Reach. After news reaches him and he hears of Urfon's death... Uri leaves and heads home and is seeking vengeance. Meanwhile, his sister has also moved on to Windhelm to join the Fighter's guild. He will visit his sister, once before going to seek vengeance and she will craft him armor mixed with ice, called Stalhrim armor. Uri fearing death, after his brother's passing, falls victim to the convincing talk of Movárth at a Nordic tavern, and will also becomes a vampire.

If its able to be a Gift. It’s fine to buy for Gold. They don’t care beyond that.

This is the first MMO I’ve played where streamers talk openly of buying Gold and Selling Items / Accounts.

Due to the open micro transactions in most games now of days. It seems no one cares.

    .

The whole openness and lack of care by the developers, is in my mind, the single greatest flaw in this game. That sheer lack of respect towards the community members that do abide by the terms of service. The only reason that it is openly discussed is because zenimax failed to act on it to begin with, that lack of action then went on to promote that kind of behavior. Now it is a "if you aren't cheating to get your gold, or buying form the bots, you are missing out".

I'm going to point out that buying gold, and buying Graymoor for gold is an inverse postulate.

One takes real money to pay for fake money. -(Buying gold)

While the other takes fake money to buy real money. -(Buy with gold)

It sounds almost equivocal to buying dlc with gold via crowns. Where fake money buys less fake money which has a translated real world value.

Both buying crowns & buying dlc are increased transactions for Zos, but one important thing to note is that those market transactions are outside the jurisdiction of Zos's ToS as the gifting is conducted via the retailers.

Meaning the only transaction they can trace is the gold transaction.

A few other things that are important to think about is that the Zos Tos is written to prevent in game cheating.. Gaining access to a dlc via gold is not cheating in game, it's 'cheating life'... Not necessarily a bad thing given the current economic climate were life hacks can be essential for some.

While you then may say, "What about those that are using their real world money to buy services from Zos in order to conduct in game barters to advance in the game?" Well that is the same as selling crowns. Notice however unlike buying gold from a vendor, it counts Zos in.

Someone has to buy Greymoor, in this case the seller buy it from some third party shops, etc. Then resell it. Either way it is considering selling gold for irl money and I think it is Illegal? ZOS can you comment on this?

Also on same idea someone can just buy eso plus for example.

Maybe there should be some more options out there such as gifting one eso plus month... idk.
