How long will it take to farm mythic items?

VoidCommander

I haven’t done any of the antiquities on pts personally, and I was wondering how long it would take to actually get one of these items. If they wind up being super game breaking things in the future, then are they going to be a “psyjic order skill line” kind of annoying, “legerdemain skill line level of annoying,” or is it going to be “get all crafting 9 traits kind of annoying.

I say annoying as I’m certain anyone who wants this gear is not looking forward to hours spent playing mobile phone games on ESO to get it. Any idea how long it will likely take?

Leveling Psijic from Level 1 to 10 just took several hours.
Leveling Scrying & Excavation to Level 10 takes several days.
And then you just started to find the 5 leads required for each mythic item...
BRACE YOURSELF - THE GRIND IS REAL THIS TIME...

    AN MMO WITH GRIND?! ::shock::

One of ESO’s earliest beneficial traits was that it is extremely not-grindy as compared to most other MMOs like Everquest or Runescape. Could you imagine the uproar if ESO suddenly took over 20 hours of grinding to level up something like the provisioning skill?

No one likes grinding in this game, and those who like antiquities will make gold from furnishings they discover. That should not mean that the greater playerbase should have to farm something that they might find unenjoyable for an excessive amount of time. I’d personally hate being forced to grind out daily quests for example in order to get something I wanted for my playstyle.

Point being that the exceptionally grindy things in this game are either cosmetic rewards or something you can buy from someone who grinded it out of enjoyment or desire for gold.

OMG, Everquest. It was a grind just to regen mana. Cast all your buffs and sit down and meditate for 10 minutes. Actually that was an amazing, amazing game. It got me hooked on MMOs.

Anyway, I'm working on Master Angler. Mythic items cannot be worse than that.

There is chance that they will be nerfed "re-balanced" before you get them :D (I guess it will take several months for average person to get desirable item)

There is a lot of incorrect information in this thread so here is some information from the PTS. I messed with this during the EU copy which isn't my main server but I got a lot of insight.

First, the mythic leads require 4 scrying points, not 5. This means you don't have to max the skill line to get mythic items (probably skill 8). I'm going to guess based on my PTS time that this is longer than Psijic - maybe twice as long at the worst but maybe not quite that long. At least you only have to do it on one character because leads are per account not character.

Leads will probably be the challenge after you've leveled the skill. Leads are always from the zone you are in. They come pretty quick when digging so I would level the skill in the zones you want stuff from. The other sources of leads seem to be anything in game that can drop a set item. I got mythic item leads pretty easy even not digging but getting all the ones you want might take time.

I have been testing it... It doesn't take long tbh considering you only do it once. I have managed to find 4 leads of the wild Hunt ring, 1 lead of malacath and 1 lead for thrassian stranglers. I also leveled both skill lines to level 4 in between looking for mythic leads. This was over the course of 4 hours 👍

Tonight I want to see if I can find the final lead for the wild Hunt ring. I know it's in murkmire and I think it will be a random drop from an overland mob, chest, psijic portal etc...

Since they just hand them to you on the PTS right now, I doubt if many people have tried to get them the hard way.

I only managed to get to skill level 3 on PTS before my brain was screaming from boredom, and I stopped. To find mythic items you need to be skill level 10, and as usual, each level takes longer to complete than the one before it.

So, based on that limited experience, I think that maybe if you completely no life it for a week or two, just chasing around the map digging up holes, you might be able to get to level 10.

After that you need to find 7 5 unique leads for each mythic item. Not much of idea where these leads drop or what the drop rate is, but some of them are in group dungeons.

Oh, and there's a chance that you might destroy a mythic item while you're digging it up.

    So, I think I'll pass.

It should take long. Otherwise they don't feel special at all. However if they are gated behind trials or such is debatable.

Although I'm sure in about year they will take like 30 mins to get >.<

I guess that makes sense in a way, as a mythic item is technically one of a kind. Actually, many people will be wearing the same mythic item in the game but that’s just something we have to overlook 🙂

I believe Alcast had a couple leads for mythic items on the PTS, to scry for mythic leads you first need to level the skill lines and unlock certain passives. He said it takes longer than the Psijic skill line to level up.

I believe leads can drop before you unlock the passives but you wont be able to do anything with the lead.
Before you get the mythic item you need to get 5 leads and find the 5 corresponding items.
These leads drop in a specific zone but appear to come from multiple sources like world bosses, treasure chests or fishing.

It looks like you can find mythic items multiple times.

The below image is from the Antquities lore codex. The "codex count" shows haw many pieces of lore there are for an item. The Dwarven wolf has 17 parts, and a codex count of 17, showing you can only get each piece once. The mythic Torc of Tonal Constancy has a codex count of 15 showing that you can dig up each of the pieces multiple times, and that you can get up to three lore snippets for each of the five pieces, one each time you dog it up...

    ZHFVaVi.jpg

So, having the same item on multiple characters is possible.

Why does it matter thats all the endgame content is, constant grinding and once you have that mythic item or two piece armour set etc you will grind for something else which will give you a slight advantage for a while in pvp until everyone has it and then you start again and again and so on.
Hence why they have now brought in Vma weapons ,people are up in arms saying they wont do it all again but they will because thats what they do , Grind content again and again.
