You would have a point if only transmute stones weren't capped at 200 and so hard to gather unless you're a hardcore pvp-er.

My highest AR is 16 and I have no issue getting stones. Getting 25k AP takes an hour tops even for a mediocre PvPer like myself.

How am I stretching things? The 'simple truth' is that the only way to get a reliable amount of Crystals is via PvP, and that the other methods of obtaining them are tedious and exceptionally time-consuming. Like I said before, everyone who does any sort of serious content in this game uses Traits on their gear, not just PvPers, so why is it that there only exists one way that's the most efficient? It's not a personal choice, it's more limited choices. And it's not "very quick" to get one character to tier one, either. There are numerous factors that come into play here, and just because something is "quick" or "easy" or "efficient" for one group of people doesn't make it so for everyone.

    Your missing a few options:

Me: I did pledges, normal HRC/AA pugs once per week on a few toons (10 each run), and a low MMR BG (not hardcore PvP at such a low MMR) once a day. That was a fairly decent stream.

Friend: had no clue about PvP except that scouting missions and repairing walls/keeps got him a steady stream.

(normal easy pug) Trials, low MMR BGs, pledges, non-combat Cyrodil all work and none of them are hardcore as myself and others I know did them with no clue how this game worked within the first couple months of playing.

I didn't but I would recommend for a solid fun way to do it, find a begginer guild that runs stuff like this: a Geode farming trial run (can pick-up VO/FG along the way) and a casual PvDoor cyro run every so often. They exist because a lot of players are in a similar situation. Those groups make it fun.

I feel like it would make sense to get rid of the training trait and maybe some other trash traits from Vet dungeons. That way vet would actually be worth running.

If only the game has some kind of method changing trait.
Maybe something like crystal that can be used in a station. Something that doesn't have to be researched as skill but using existing crafting skill.

All it's debatable... Traits that might not be useful to you, might be useful to others...

For instance, I use the training trait on some pieces of gear when I'm leveling a char.

Because of the way # of traits is integrated into research, crafting, and crafted sets, while perhaps the drop rate could be adjusted I don't see any scenarios where training could be removed as an option partially. Even saying "gear of a certain level" seems problematic when you think about crafted sets.

Either training gets changed to a different trait, or the whole system (which actually touches multiple systems) would probably need a massive overhaul.

Personally I do like training as a trait. HOWEVER it is a little "one of these things is not like the other" as it is the only one that doesn't help with stats at all. Maybe it would make sense to to make training be an enchantment

Also, while part of the point of having RNG and various traits is so that we want to re-run content, if you are working towards the "best" trait having it be training vs. something else wouldn't really impact this negatively (from ZOS's) standpoint. It would just make US feel better that the pieces we add are doing SOMETHING while we farm for the right ones or more crystals.

My #1 wish for ESO Today: Decouple achievements from character progress and tracking.

Some people may use training gear to level up skills, different morph, gain CP. That coupled with the fact we can change traits pretty at will makes this a non-issue.

collecting crystals to transmute in pve is unbelievably tedious

Seems that you have a complaint about everything. Farming gear is too tedious. The solution to making farming gear less tedious is too tedious.

The solid fact remains that Zos created the transmutation system for the very reason for the complaint made in the OP. Just because someone chooses to not do the activities Zos made effectively or do not play enough is a personal issue.

Besides that, we have pointed out that the training trait dropping on dungeon gear is useful. We have not touched on your comment that 80% of the gear that drops for you in dungeons is training traits because of you either have bad RNG or are massaging the numbers to try to make it look like an issue it is not.

Let's be honest they could at least remove the cap. People would still need to research the traits they want to switch too and the game would be far more fun. ESO is not about the grind. Its never been about the grind so eliminating the "grinding" aspect to a degree wouldn't be a problem seeing as if the transmute gains are kept where they are people will actually have to put in effort and for once PvP players would not be rail roaded.
Ah, e-communities - the "pinnacle" of the internet............yeah, right.

Interesting thread with some interesting pros and cons.

Here's kinda what I get out of it: Buff transmute crystal storage capacity. :)
