Sustain , how are you managing it this patch?

PFGD + Overwhelming + Infused Recov glyph + Infused Absorb Mag enchant on Maelstrom backbar...

And I still run out of juice. This patch is stupid. Combat devs lost their frickin' minds.

I use VO instead of Relequen most of the time, sustain is fine so long as there are orbs periodically. (Stamden)

So , with sustain being absolutely butchered this patch how are you all managing your resources? What effect has it had on your builds and how have you adapted?

A heavy attack added into a rotation tends to sort your sustain out, full stop. Allocate championship points to buff resource return from heavy attacks.

Sustain has been challenging and frustrating but not game breaking or insurmountable. There are glyphs, CPs, sets, mundas, potions (and races), all can be utilised as one wishes to solve the issue.

Heavy attacks for 2W are pretty quick, ~1.2s animation AFAIK, which is not much longer than skill GCD ~0.9s so doing a couple of those won't butcher the rotation that much, but 2H weapons have >2s animations which will eat 2 GCDs. Another problem is that in real content you may not have that much time because you're blocking, doing rotations etc. Also magicka skills are more expensive than their stamina counterparts, so sustain nerfs have hit harder there.

True that, when I'm tired and my wrists hurt - sometimes the pain also creeps up towards the elbow - I just play my heavy attack, IA front bar solo builds a bit :)

Youre not going to get around the fact that doing a heavy attack takes longer (and hits harder). 1h heavy attacks are a bit faster but you are going to lose dps either way, which would seem to be one of the intentions of the changes.

Add a heavy attack in to any rotation, 2 even, one on each bar. Dps may drop, but not by as much as running out of resources.

If that is not an acceptable options, thankfully we have glyphs, CPs, sets, mundas and races to also deal with sustain.

Yea, race is not such a black and white choice. For example I did the maths for Stamina Sorcerer Redguard and Orc specifically. Redguard can sustain with blue food - half of your skills are weapon skills which benefit 8% cost reduction and you get effectively 380 stamina recovery on top of that - but Orc needs Arthaeum Takeaway Broth to fully sustain the same rotation. The tool tips in the first case are only 1.5% lower compared to the second - higher max stamina vs. higher WD. For an 80K parse 1.5% is 1.2K. If you need to do just 1 heavy attack every 2nd or 3rd rotation on Orc for sustain compared to Redguard they will end up almost exactly the same.

Serpent Mundus. It's my fault really, I wanted a stamplar Breton. At the time I was "*** meta."

I still am "*** meta" but there are consequences.

I might make her a Bosmer after my overtime payroll comes in a few weeks.

    Bosmer still isn't meta

Ok I think I now how to properly sustain on my MagDK without having to rely on Spell Symmetry now. Basically Unrelenting Grip will be slotted in the same bar as Molten Whip, use the grip to keep up Seething Fury stacks before unleashing them on the whip, was able to get around the same dps as the usual MagDK rotation that does not involve the grip. Since the grip gives back 100% magicka if the enemy can't be pulled, sustain is so much easier now.

I started using Blue Betty. That alone is enough to make up from the previous patch.
