How does everyone feel about the new Boar Pet?

I love piggies.
I have waited for this pet like, forever and I bought it the instant it was online.
I find it extremely cute, with outfit and bags and all.
I would have bought it with or without the slots ... don't really mind them one way or the other, but I love PIGGIES!

I'm against pay to win but i'm ok with it, I don't really feel more inventory is essential after fully upgrade my inventory. But perhaps for those who need it, the 5 slot is a bit too few and 1500 crown is a bit too much. If it is mount and have better design, then it might be worth it.

The boar is nice, I guess. I mean I wish we got a version without the tack so I could put it in the Moon-Sugar Meadow I made into a forest. The inventory boost is nice, and you know what that means?

People are fine with it. More or less. Next up, though, we'll get a horse that increases inventory space by 10 slots. Then later, a bear that increases the slots by 15.

And from there we'll work our way up to the Crown Store-purchasable Volendrung for PvP.

10 Containers (mostly style pages), 5 FGD, 2 Knight-Errant, 10 Master Architect, 6 Moon Dancer, 10 Necropotence, 16 Rattlecage (why?), 16 Roar of Alkosh, 10 Scathing Mage, 17 Lich, 11 Spider Cultist, 14 Automaton, 1 Sunderflame (it's a 2h), 6 Ice Furnace, 1 Timeless Blessing (AS Resto Staff), 5 Trappings of Invigoration, 3 quickslots (all potions), 10 Consumables (writs), 4 poisons (writs), 4 crown scrolls (character bound), 4 tools, 3 "Others" (2 geodes and a Pelinal Scroll), 172/200.

My Sorc Tank:

3 containers (not even opening that tab to see what's in there this time), 5 Blood Moon, 1 Bloodspawn, 15 Hircine's Veneer, 8 Hunt Leader, 5 Law of Julianos (So that's where this got off to), 12 Lunar Bastion (huh?) , 2 Stormfist, 4 quickslot, 11 consumables (a couple of these are kinda weird, not sure), 2 poisons, 85 Furnishings (this number used to be much higher, probably why there's any gear on this character), 3 Tools, 21 "Other" (20 Geodes + 1 Guild Tabard.) 177/200

Random Warden

15 Containers (Nope), 2 Blood Moon, 6 Blooddrinker, 1 Bloodspawn, 8 Claws of Yolnhkriin, 5 Darkstride, 4 quickslot, 13 consumables (including a stack of Double Bloody Mara), 2 poisons (writs, you know this by now), 2 Museium Pieces, 76 Master Writs, 1 "Crown Scroll" (It's the Cyrodiilic Collections Needs You quest starter), 3 Tools, 16 "Others" (Includes a Keep Recall Stone and some event junk) 154/170

Incidentally, I had a StamSorc with a 132 Motif slots, but I went on a firesale tear about a month ago.

So, account wide, I'm currently at 2849/3882.

How'd I get there? I've got a lot of stuff. According to Inventory Insights, I have just over 900k items on my account. So, that's interesting, horrifying, and way less impressive when I remember just how much Alkahest I have floating around.

The pet looks nice in my opinion but I'm weary because of this slot thing. Who's to say that they won't add more pets that will add further slots? If they want to introduce pets like that I'd prefer if they were base game rewards, to keep everything balanced. It would be awesome as a reward for New Life Festival for example.

I feel this was a good idea, but could be executed better. Even without the pet, I would bought it (I alteady did), just for more storage.

You see, the game curently lacks the way to improve inventory management for players that do not find subscription model attractive. I have bought all Chapters, story DLC and some dungeon DLC so far, so I dont concider myself a "free" player, since I support the game. So why me and people like me (who buy stuff, but dont find subscription model attractive) have to suffer, because of inventory management is beeing kept hostage behind subscription model ?
The + 5 invetory slots on all alts is "a step" in the right direction. But I wont lie - it would be better if we had a way to upgrade bank space above the 240 slots even with RL cash.

It is a 2 edged sword for me: I would love the inventory space, but I do not like the pet that much. Since I have so many alts, every bit of extra inventory is helpfull. I am still undecided. Maybe I will get it for myself as a Christmas present.

Wait... it provided inventory space?

If so, its an interesting development, as the game progresses with more and more sets and items, we do need more inventory space. Either give us more chests for our houses, or simply increase max inventory and max bank space... or give us a pet I guess, which seems the far more complicated option to be hones.

I do take issue with ZOS approach though, I dont want a boar, I want a cat or a dragon or something... so I imagine they will release more options in due course... so what if you already purchase the boar? ZOS screw us over just like they have with the new cat assistants for bank and shop.

On a stupidity level it is quite interesting...

You can either spend

1500 Crowns on a butt-ugly pig pet and 5 inventory slots per pig instance, or

1500 Crowns on a new character (assuming you have 10 already otherwise it’s free) and up to 200 inventory slots

So if you’re buying it for the inventory space, it’s just rank insanity.

If 5 inventory slots per toon is "pay to win" then ESO+ doubling bank space and providing the crafting bag is surely also pay to win. As is buying additional toon slots for mule alts.

Has anyone found the boar pet in-game? If so, where? How did you get it? Since PTS I wonder how can we get it besides the CS.

Is cap bag still 200 slots or it increases with this?

I feel the same way about this pet. As I do with them selling Skyshards and Skill-lines. The time to be tilted has long past. This is nothing more than ZOS dipping their feet into the waters of P2W for ESO. Just to see how the community acts about.

Judging from the other thread on the forums. And how many of these pets I see running around in the game world It seems that the community as a whole accepts P2W in ESO. Brace yourselves, for the future P2W storm to hit ESO hard. Because "actions speaks way louder than words" And the community actions screams "We love P2W give us more!"

Me personally if I have to choose between a P2W BDO, or a P2W ESO with very bottom tiered server performance and boring combat. That's a easy choice for me, personally speaking of course.

The pet makes it sp you can exceed the maximun. Ie, with the pig your max in now 205 per character rather than 200.
I frankly don't give eff all about the pet, my objection is that they make an increase to inventory a thing you can get for real life money only. And before anyone gets funny, yes the unlimited crafting bag is bs too. There should as minimum be a reasonable sized crafting bag available in game and not just dump crafting things into your inventory.

You're, basically, buying a pet and a bag upgrade, simultaneously, I guess?

You can exchange gold for crowns, so it's not automatically pay-to-win.

Although, there should be a more convenient/safer way to exchange currency, within the game.

In terms of the upgrade, it's less compelling for me than a bigger upgrade to one character's inv would be, as I almost exclusively only play my main.

He’s very cute but I need size comparison pictures. Zos has burned me after they released a fraction of a Welwa with the excuse that real Welwa are too big and then they released huge dumb ponies thereby negating the size issue. It needs to be bigger enough to haul a merchant cart.

It's larger than some of our tiny pets

I haven't bought it on live server yet, still deciding if I should use my own crowns or gold. It looks interesting, but I won't use it as actual pet. In my case it will give me 90 (18 x 5) more inventory slots - a must have for a hoarder...

Yeah, but then you have to log to different alts, all the time.

Really, neither option is ideal.

I think what most people probably want is significantly more bag space on their main (or mains) and/or more bank space.

I don't need the pack space. It's too ugly to use as a pet or as a house fixture. So, no sale.

The only plus point is that it doesn't have flapping wings.

ZOS may read this thread, so here is some feedback.

I will not play a P2W game, and this is coming too close to the line.

Clearly this is the thin end of the wedge, this isn't a test of whether people want these QOL improvements, it is a test of whether we tolerate them. It used to be that quality of life improvements were for everyone, and we should all be sad that ESO has lost that commitment.

I don't like how this was sold, this a bundle that includes a cool cosmetic AND an inventory upgrade, they could and should have been sold separately so each could be evaluated on their own merits. I feel ZOS have been sneaky by derailing an important debate about P2W with comments about what an adorable porkchop pet it is.

Finally, a lot of people say 5 inventory slots isn't that much. That is true, but sometimes you just need an extra little bit of bag space and it is time-consuming to stop and free up a few slots. This will let you keep farming a bit longer, you won't have to stop quite as often, and even though it is only a little bit of extra space for each character, it will save time in the end.

That's what annoys me, I know that I will end up buying this. I will try to resist because I don't want to support this direction for the game, but one day, maybe after a few drinks, I will run out of inventory space and buying this stupid pig will be the easiest solution.

I think this is ZOS testing the waters, if this flies (and from the number of posts in this very thread flaunting their purchases already this actually might, smh) expect to see more "small bonuses" being sold for real cash. Bonuses that can't be earned in game at all.

Pets (and most crown store items ideally) were meant to be cosmetic ONLY period. There should never be gameplay effects associated with pets no matter how small. I don't think this will turn out well at all.
