Cast time Utimates need to go.

Seriously these have completely ruined the flow of gameplay and have made many classes not fun to play for many players. They do not serve to promote good or engaging gameplay at all. I'm sure you have a patch coming soon and that would be a great time to revert the awful decision to add cast times to Ultimates.

A lot of the people I play with have already quit because of some of the decisions made in the Scalebreaker patch and one of the main reasons they gave is because they are unhappy with a lot of the changes, of which the main is the addition of Cast time ULTs.

    I hate cast times :/

    So many times my Dawnbreaker didn't go off in critical moment cause it was - as I got used to - canceled by block or weapon swap :(

    because it now actually requires real skill and perfect timing to use those ultimates, and it gives us the ability to trick our enemy in pvp instead of game glitch and exploit dependent.
    thats just my view, i dont speak for my friends (Reasoning of why they like it), but i can only assume they share that same thinking on the subject of cast times.

    Overall it's easier to survive as part of a zerg and harder for solo players to quickly kill individuals within said zergs.

    Just saying you do not like it will merely get the thread ignored as Zos has already seen that tid bit of info. They also know if there is truly a significant number of players who have quit and since that card has been used more than once in the past few years while we have seen a growth in total number of players it may not be so wise to use without real information.

    I would suggest countering what Zos says is the reason for the added cast times. They say it is to add counter play which also means this is specifically done for PvP and ignores PvE. It could have been handled through battle spirit to accomplish that. Wow. that already sounds like much better reasoning to provide Zos.

    Below is the a quote from the official statement Zos gave us on August 24.
    Adding cast times to Ultimates appears to be a change most people here have reacted negatively to. Why are these cast times being added? What issue is the team attempting to solve with this change?
    Ultimate abilities are some of the most powerful abilities in the game. We added cast times so there is counter play; we felt that having 3-4 abilities hitting you at once, including an Ultimate, is just too much. You also can’t animation cancel them because we don’t want players to be able to instantly cast them anymore. They are just too powerful.

    It's not about me not liking it there was many polls in which the majority of the community voted for the removal of these cast times yet ZOS ignored the feedback. They were even told in the PTS that this was a terrible idea. Stop defending ZOS and every BS decision they make because it's actually hurting the game.

    Of course they are powerful. They are supposed to be. But it's not like they are spammable. And guess what? When you drop an ultimate on a PVE boss with 40 million HP, it's not that damn powerful!

    I swear, the more these guys make changes for the sake of PVP that have no real purpose in PVE, the more I hate PVP...and I used to enjoy it. :/

    Oh, I agree with you and disagree with Zos. As I stated, there is a work around to keep this change in PvP, which is the only justification for their change, and not affect PvE.

    It will take presenting a rational and provocative discussion to Zos to get them to change this in this manner. Not simplistic "I hate this change" which is pretty meaningless since they acknowledge we already said that.

    Edit: While Zos does not want us to have to learn to play differently when going from PvP and PvE, this is an ideal use of battle spirit. Granted, their idea that we play the same in PvE and PvP is probably borne of not wanting to increase their work load as that is a bunch of garbage they are attempting to disguise as logic.

    learn to play!!!! that also affects pve and its EXTREMELY annoying! also if they implemented AC from the beginning of the game, they must not change/remove it cuz too many ppl got used to it.

    anyway, i know 1 thing. What goes around comes around... Too many ppl didnt like all the changes since Wrathstone. I am patiently waiting for something!...

    The didn't implement it. It is an unintended aspect of the game's combat priority that they did not think about. It would take changes to the core of the game to address it and they obviously don't have the resources to do this. Adding a cast time is a compromise and it is healthier for the game.

    More established PvPers and duelers are already using the CT to their advantage to fake out people with ult's so that you can land it after they've already tried to avoid.

    The perf in this game is so *** bad that you couldn't 100% anim cancel things like Onslaught and Incap anyway. DB is the one that got hit the hardest bc you could effortlessly anim cancel that 100% of the time often with no visible animation to the player much like when someone lands two GCD's on you out of stealth before you see them on your screen. People stopped using DB for a minute out of protest, but are coming back to it. It has bigger problems like the elevation bug that's been around forever when you just lose damage.

    Nothing more annoying than wanting to incap a low health enemy to finish the fight but instead be stunned by someone else while i already hear the incap sound... Really fun fast paced gameplay..

    But hey... atleast the people who play with their feet can now ''counter'' your ult.
