    Oh, that's easy:

If you are noob/ldiot/trash, then the other one is killed by noob/ldiot/trash. Or call them corpse. Or "most disgusting corpse I made today".

If they tell you to kill yourself, tell them that you have to, since they are too weak to do it, or that you prefer to kill them instead. If they tell you to delete your game, tell them that you delete them from server.

If they rage out completely, tell them to season your french fries.

    giphy.gif

Things like that is fun when in Cyrodiil so can park character on base and have entertaining chat with them, if spend time like that on battlegrounds, usually ends up with a 3rd place.

But when at Cyro.. i do admit i sometimes have fun with the raging people.. ;)

You are noticing this more because the pool of players has been opened up. The same way that normal randoms are WAAAAAAY more toxic than random vets.

It's the "law of large numbers" which basically means the more people you interact with the more buttholes you will run into. When you have a limited scope of people like was there pre-morrowind when BGs were for purchase only, you reduce that chance.

When there is no investment required for the system, the system is devalued by the users, which means that toxic behavior bubbles up. Respect for the system by the users tends to make them look inward for fault not outward for blame.

Everyone that is playing battlegrounds on a regular basis is going to see an uptick in buttholes, simply because there are more people. The % stays the same, the sample size gets bigger.

Also most of these players are going to be relatively new and place a lot more confidence in their skillset than they should and will have a hard time accepting you beating them, ESPECIALLY if you are off-meta and they are using a YouTube build.

For a long time I lived in the world where someone telling me to kill myself would have me feel some kind of way, but then I realized that its just a mirror on them and to understand their brokenness if not relevant to whatever I did, it's simply a reaction to a situation they are not emotionally mature enough to handle.

Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

I look forward to hate whispers so much. I love it when someone takes the time to whisper me and tell me "I'm trash" because I whooped their behind. Lol. I imagine their blood pressure shoots up.

    It's such a relaxing feeling.

    Absolutely, so much THIS!

I love getting hate whispers - means I'm doing it right! It's a game - some people just need to lighten up. :D

Its remind me those days playing counter strike and getting bsnned from servers for cheating while I was simply too good.

...Meanwhile in PVE, a year ago on the first day of Summerset early access, I pickpocketed and killed two placeholder NPCs near the firshing hole, and the wild player suddenly appeared and started stalking me for some time :D

    trCEpBp.jpg

I thought that it was just weird RP, as I often get some nasty lines in Vivec city for my daily killings, but then he specified "in real world" :o Now that was really unexpected, and of course reported with unedited screenshots.

I'm very curious what would he say if he saw more than 2 NPCs dead :D

I'm posting just to rant about BGs from over the past few months, specifically.

So playing BGs when it first came out with Morrowind, I've opened myself up to playing (more) different builds, to specialize in roles and aspects like stamina bow + mobility that I've never played before (was always playing magic builds). BGs was great, people were very collaborative once they've learned the modes and would communicate. It was always common to see a "hello" at the start and a "GG" or... well "GG" anyways at the end. There were even a few times (or even in Cyrodiil) when people from enemy teams would complement me via whisper.

Mainstream/meta builds and premade teams have always terrorized PVP, but what's worse is this.
For at least the past few months, every perspective of PVP that I've had from the previous paragraph, has been turned into this mortifying nightmare.

Rarely are people friendly anymore and those griefers. Griefers are horrid, I keep seeing them and they focus one person out of spite, it doesn't have to be because that person is good, I've seen it because they are bad/new/lagged(?) and they will whisper this person and T bag them, even in below level 50 BGs do I see it or have had it happen to me.

Whsipering has degraded to comments like; 'go back to PVE' which I just laugh, there are some DMs where I get +20 kills so I know what I'm capable of, not them. What erks me is this, comments telling me I'm a *** or should kill myself. It's one thing to be able to block these people, but knowing this is happening and will happen again is another. I've been told to hurt/cut/kill myself maybe about more than 3 times over the past month. I can even remember the @ names of a few players that done it. They are blocked but that is just some twisted thing to say to someone. I've reported a few of them but I still see them from time to time, so I doubt it does anything.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game probably like 4 times now, thinking "well maybe this time things will be different", but no. I need a break from this game now.

So I'll end this with a question...
Is anyone else experiencing/noticing this or something similar?

lol yeah, I routinely get people telling me that my character is cancer and I should go kill myself. I've been called every racial and bigoted slur you can think of. So don't worry, it's not just you. If you are going to PvP on this game some of the best advice a person can give is to make liberal use of the black list option. PvP brings out the worse in people. But since a simple ignore fixes it - I don't really see it as much of an issue. It's even kind of funny to be honest. Just ignore them: out of sight out of mind. Problem fixed.

I've never experienced that in ESO, but it's worrying the CSRs haven't acted on reports. The community is certainly a lot more toxic than pre-Morrowind.

I know this is unpopular but truth be told toxicity went way up when the WoW refugees arrived.

Mind you we had it before. Just alot more now.

For real, blizzard fan bois are the worst, mainly because they wont shut up about WoW and they're horrible at the game.

You actually listen to other people on an mmo?

    Specifically pvp, thats not healthy.

Most of the time, in my experience, pvp is effing epic in toxicity.

I, for one, spout never ending slurs and currs while doing bg, any match. But I dont use a mic, because I know I may offend other players when I trashtalk.

On text, I am like hi, hello and gg's. Win lose or draw, I am a good player on text chat.

The BGs format does little to mitigate conflicts within the group. For instance, I run a Warden healer/controller. This weekend in one BG 5 minutes in a dps started raging he was the only one with any kills. In the subsequent drama it was revealed the other 2 players were also healing builds.

Does op not understand that this is a game about murder? We go around killing each other, killing other species, and even specifically murdering innocents. For rewards and glory!

If you're offended by pm's, then this is not the game for you.

I have personally found the ESO community solid 99.999% of the time. The real issue is people not shitposting enough. Too quiet when playing.

Maybe OP is too good to play against that other players resort to BM, or maybe OP is annoying to play against. Either way OP is doing something right. It's just BM, nothing new in gaming.

Honestly BM is a core part of what makes pvp fun. Of course there is a limit to how far you can go. But dancing on enemy corpses and taunting players is just part of an online pvp experience. If you can't tolerate this then the mechanic called ignore list is for you.

Can we ban peple that 3 man focus me and chase me for 2mins in chaos ball game or people that atack me in open world 1v1 for 6 minute non stop, I get killed out of boredom AND this happens in low kill time=> non cp. There are 1vXer magsorcs and stamblades that grief noobs in sieges, they should be perma banned to. Why? I say so.

Maybe, I thought I was just getting burnt out with the game and those that it involved. My main point was that it has been way worse for the past few months.

Not sure what you mean by actually listen. I usually can't help but read whispers because the UI pulses blue when collapsed. Usually I chat with friends via whisper while playing so that's usually who I expect.

If I actually listened to those players I wouldn't be here typing because I would be dead.

Pvp always brings out the toxicity in some players. Especially gankblades who get salty when their combo didn’t work on you. From my experience at least. I know not all are like that. I usually link them a Ferrous Salts with Lorkhan's Tears and thank them for adding to my collection before going on my way again.

Really... we are trying to have a somewhat civilized society.

A little bit of trash talk doesn't hurt anyone - you could even say it is part of every sport (ias long as the refree doesn't hear it), but there is certainly a line.
And telling somebody to kill oneself is certainly crossing that line - i have even heard worse things and i am a very fair player i think.
It is very easy. Just don't be an [removed profanity]. That is all. A very simple rule so you don't have to start quoting Kant or whatever.

I mean there is hardly a social situation irl where you could say something like that to an unknown person without any consequences and i'd say the vast majority of people wouldn't do that anyway, because everyone knows it is wrong.

It does say a lot about the people that send those whispers though - either they are very young, in which case they need to learn that this is wrong (so it needs to be reported) or they are in need of serious personality adjustment.

I'm not immune to typing myself and I will type in chat at the start of objective games (If they're on my team) to ask particular repeat offenders to relax on the PvO and drag the game if we're winning by miles, they never do because that's all they know but I always ask in hope.
