BGs and player toxicity

I'm posting just to rant about BGs from over the past few months, specifically.

So playing BGs when it first came out with Morrowind, I've opened myself up to playing (more) different builds, to specialize in roles and aspects like stamina bow + mobility that I've never played before (was always playing magic builds). BGs was great, people were very collaborative once they've learned the modes and would communicate. It was always common to see a "hello" at the start and a "GG" or... well "GG" anyways at the end. There were even a few times (or even in Cyrodiil) when people from enemy teams would complement me via whisper.

Mainstream/meta builds and premade teams have always terrorized PVP, but what's worse is this.
For at least the past few months, every perspective of PVP that I've had from the previous paragraph, has been turned into this mortifying nightmare.

Rarely are people friendly anymore and those griefers. Griefers are horrid, I keep seeing them and they focus one person out of spite, it doesn't have to be because that person is good, I've seen it because they are bad/new/lagged(?) and they will whisper this person and T bag them, even in below level 50 BGs do I see it or have had it happen to me.

Whsipering has degraded to comments like; 'go back to PVE' which I just laugh, there are some DMs where I get +20 kills so I know what I'm capable of, not them. What erks me is this, comments telling me I'm a *** or should kill myself. It's one thing to be able to block these people, but knowing this is happening and will happen again is another. I've been told to hurt/cut/kill myself maybe about more than 3 times over the past month. I can even remember the @ names of a few players that done it. They are blocked but that is just some twisted thing to say to someone. I've reported a few of them but I still see them from time to time, so I doubt it does anything.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game probably like 4 times now, thinking "well maybe this time things will be different", but no. I need a break from this game now.

So I'll end this with a question...
Is anyone else experiencing/noticing this or something similar?

Telling another player to kill themselves should reward a perma ban, full stop.

I've never experienced that in ESO, but it's worrying the CSRs haven't acted on reports. The community is certainly a lot more toxic than pre-Morrowind.

All i get is some people asking me why i do this or that when im tired/meaddrinking etc and that i suck.
But i've never gotten someone tell me to kill myself on pc eu.
However, when i played on the ps4, this is something you will be told over mic, over and over again. I even had the pleasure of being told in detail how worthless i was from a guildleader.

Like in wow, you can interact ingame with an admin of some kind who will try to solve the problems.
I dont know how well that worked overall, but its an idea ?
I know there are people who would love the power over a game they play daily and have an unkillable toon to mess around with during down times, so just give some reliable people that position and lets see ?

I look forward to hate whispers so much. I love it when someone takes the time to whisper me and tell me "I'm trash" because I whooped their behind. Lol. I imagine their blood pressure shoots up.

    It's such a relaxing feeling.

I've never personally experienced hate but some people will take out their frustration on others and how they respond is a reflection of who they are, not who you are.

I understand it's not a great feeling to be told things that seem unjustified. Some people take it too far. But if you like playing then keep playing. That's possibly the best thing for you and the best insult to them.

As Kunaar from Rimmen would say,
"There are those who speak words of smoke, wilting your whiskers. They wish for nothing more than to choke you with their despair.

Do not let them. Look to the skies above and breathe in that gentle air. Know that their desperation is not your own."

I never understood the logic of telling another player who's killing you regularly, that they suck or they are trash. (To put it mildly)

If they are trash, and they kill you constantly, what does that make you? What's worse than trash? If I'm a zero, and I'm beating you, doesn't that mean you're less than zero?

Last night I went 14-2 on a stam DK, just to have some player who was 3-11 tell me what a bad player I was in a deathmatch. Had someone else tell me I was carried by class. Would it be different if I was on any other class? Everyone says any class is a carry. Go down the list of classes and there's always someone saying it's a carry. "Carry" literally means nothing anymore since any class, or any gear set for that matter, is called a carry these days. Literally anything. (Who knew Spriggan/Bone Pirate was a carry? Pretty much all stam players use it. You'd think that would make it come down to skill, since it's so widely used.)

I swear, some people just don't think.

A toxicity free world is impossible. If you dont like what someone says, block and move on. Share it in a discord maybe for luls because, let's be honest, mad typing is pretty hilarious. If its egregious, report, block, and move on. Personally I've had more positive whispers than negative. People whisper me good fight after a 1v1 win or lose, people whisper me nice job after I get a good score, etc. If you want to see true toxicity, play pve.

BGs are the places I've seen the meanest comments and such not. Usually open world you can find some common humanity but for some reason BGs are the worst.
Lots of BG players are cruel if you're "bad" (usually the lowest scoring person on team is the one calling everyone else bad), nasty stuff about opponents (our opponents are actual human beings, remember?), and just constant sexist/racist names for chars and accounts.
The people who're drawn more to the dominating aspect of PvP instead of the dying while trying weird builds aspect probably play more BGs.

Never had the you should kill yourself nonsense. Mostly your a bad player or some such, mostly in group chat rarely in whisper and almost always directed at the whole team.

You know what I have found really annoys those griefers, especially those blaming everyone else when the team starts losing?

When you ignore them and you just keep on queuing.

Your not going to be on the winning team every match, everyone gets their share of good and bad players.

If they can't suck it up for ten minutes and play the game mode that they have decided to spend time on its their problem, its not like being stuck in a bad group in a random dungeon, where you might have to spend an hour or in some cases abandon the group because they will never finish.

You spend 10 minutes or so in the match, if they are as good as they think they are they should have no trouble carrying the team to second place, if not 4 out of the 12 players lose ten minutes and queue again, big loss.

Never let an idiot put you off playing something you have paid money for.

Or if all else fails get out google translate, find a difficult language, have an entertaining message translated, copy that text into the whisper chat, if you respond in a foreign language, they will think you can't understand them and waste their effort on someone else.

Exactly. Who cares that some people are trash? It's not like calling them out might show them their behaviour is unacceptable, right? Or maybe, just maybe, you're one of the sad people targeted by OP who get off being offensive.

You mean to say talking like that is okay and should be allowed?

In my country it's an indictable offence under 14 years imprisonment taken from counseling and aiding suicide 241(1)(b). I get that maybe in your country it's not a law and is allowed, but ZoS is NA and should be acting on those reports because I personally do not agree with it.

    Thanks for sharing though.

I'm pretty sure someone telling you to kill yourself is considered a real world crime now. If you really want something done about it, claim you are being cyber bullied, bring proof to your local police department, and hopefully it will go somewhere.

I remember seeing an article a few years ago about a Runescape player being jailed for exactly this.

I`ve noticed this too.. yeah, there was a few raging people before but nowadays there is like a legion of them and they all act and sound like the same.

Fun fact, i did not even know what "KYS" meant before recieved such after a game on battlegrounds that i had 7000+ score with 40 kills and 30 assists (1 death) lol and at the start we were on 2nd place since couple of our guys kept dying and feeding enemy teams kills until we did rise to win in the end and we had 1 guy spending most of the time telling how everyone on our team sucked.

I remained silent and just killing enemies the whole match, like i always do.. and we did win in the end. Score time. The complaining guy had 3 kills, 10 deaths. And instead of saying something nice to me he decided to whisper the "KYS" even i carried them to win clearly. Had to whisper back just to ask what it means lol.. as a nice guy he did explain with capslock what it means "KILL YOUR SELF" :joy:

No idea whats wrong with these people, but they suck both at the game and at the insults and their timing. Seriously, i would have been embarrased to send such after a score like that when clearly the guy needed a big dose of L2P himself. :joy:

Does some streamer do this kind of behaviour or where do they copy this from? Or are they all little kids?

I got to say i have next to no interest in pvp. I run the daily and thats it. As for toxic loudmouth players there are loads of them there. Thing is not to let it get to you, distance yourself. Personally I found that the best way to deal with them is to troll them. Once they start running their mouths twist their words, tell them how you believe your team would win if only they would not be there to bring you down. Ignore whatever facts may be even if you do bad and just have fun trolling them and making them go ballistic. Since i started doing this i actually look forward to meeting toxic players :D

First, queue with a group of friends. Do not go for randoms.

Second, turn yourself offline and no one can whisper you.

Third, if you want to ignore the sound advice of 1 & 2 then ignore whispers and comments you get. They are trying to upset you and clearly they are winning.

Yes, there are childish fools still living in their mother's basement at 40 yoa that behave like that. They grief other players in an attempt to make their lives seem less pathetic.

Think about it. If they were really into PvP and skilled at it then they would be playing a game where PvP was the focus.

@Moonsorrow I've never heard of KYS until just recently too and had to look it up.

@bigelle.x3_ESO sure the 'kids' would therefore lack freedom but if they were mine, I would be smacking them over the head. What's worse is if they say it to other kids or inadvertently at the right time to anyone going through something, they may (and have) acted on it. It's one thing to generalize a statement to say, a group of people, but to target an individual or at least have them feel targeted is dehumanizing.

Offline mode works so that you can still write and read group/zone/say chat, but no one cannot whisper to you. Also people then cannot port to your character and so on since you appear to be Offline. But it is very nice to have as an option when just wants to focus on PVP without random rage from strangers.

And if someone with anger management issues on same team, then can just minimize chat window during the match instead of spending time arguing with their madness. :p

    Oh, that's easy:

If you are noob/ldiot/trash, then the other one is killed by noob/ldiot/trash. Or call them corpse. Or "most disgusting corpse I made today".

If they tell you to kill yourself, tell them that you have to, since they are too weak to do it, or that you prefer to kill them instead. If they tell you to delete your game, tell them that you delete them from server.

If they rage out completely, tell them to season your french fries.
