Guys, this isn’t a cast-time-on-shields level of bad. It’s just standard rebalancing, with a few much-needed nerfs to some overperforming skills. We’re all going to be okay.
I don't play my magsorc much anymore, but if I did, I'd tell you to get bent. These changes are hatchet jobs and all these 'much needed nerfs' are going to pendulum swing off into some as-yet-unforseen direction within 3-6 months.
Again.
People seem to forget that this is an MMORPG. Classes are being rebalanced and reworked all the time. I can’t think of a single active MMO in which classes are not regularly rebalanced. It’s the nature of the genre. When they stop rebalancing classes, you know that the game is in maintenance mode.
This 'people' you passively-aggressively accused of forgetfulness has not, in fact, 'forgotten' that.
You're right though. The entire MMO industry is full of morons pretending they're actual creators of quality things, and they get to romp around in a Wild West industry in which the typical consumer (i.e: you) can be persuaded to accept absolutely hilarious degrees of disregard and shoddy craftsmanship because 'it's the nature of the genre'.
The nature of the genre is stupid, and anything that's actually well designed by real designers of things that matter do not, in fact, continually reinvent the wheel.
You've been taught to think reinventing the wheel is both normal and 'the nature of the genre'. The 'genre' has no nature. It has design principles, and your willingness to accept the absolute crap and voluminous abuses of your time investment as well as your money is as much a comment on you as it is on the developers and studios that keep manufacturing this third-rate garbage.

Whether you like it or not, frequent reinvention of the wheel is necessary in an online game that relies on steady logins to remain viable. New content or new PVP maps/modes doesn’t keep people occupied for very long. MMOs aren’t pick up and play games that you can revisit on and off; they’re meant to be played continuously. Shaking things up class-wise is one of several ways in which MMO developers keep people logging in. If that’s too frustrating for you, there are other genres available.
ESO is actually one of the more forgiving MMOs on the market; at least we don’t have to re-grind all of our gear with every major patch. I, for one, am glad that I don’t have to stick with the same build all the time. I enjoy theorycrafting, and I enjoy revisiting skills and sets that were once thought “useless” from time to time. Guess that’s why I don’t feel like the sky is falling every time a new patch is announced. *shrug*

So you're a well trained, well groomed consumer. Preen a little harder about how you'd never dream of complaining because you're the goodest or something.
Meanwhile, frequent reinvention of the wheel is not, in fact, necessary in an online game, and if you ever get to enjoy the pleasure of playing one that actually has content that keeps people logging in, you'll realize just how much of a cheap gimmick these endless cycles of wheel reinvention actually are.
You should up your standards and stop taking whatever they hand you just because they handed it to you.

Hahaha.I’ve done my fair share of complaining in these forums, my dude. I’ve spoken up about some of the more egregious proposed changes in the past (see, for instance, cast times on shields), and I’ve advocated for other changes for the betterment of the game.
Again, there are other genres available to you if you don’t like this one. I’d suggest playing something else instead, because you seem mighty angry with ZOS for following the industry-standard MMO development cycle.
Welcome to the real world petsorcs, now you will have to learn to play like everybody instead of clickclick-pewpew and if It goes bad click "bye bye" 4 times... Stack more resistances and more protection. Even with that, while they dont fix targeting, summoning 3 pets should not be possible. How do you kill 3 petsorcs va 3 petsorcs?? XD is It possible?
[I'm stuck with that Sorc for achievement hunting and such, I started him as a crafter and thought it would be a good idea to make him my achieve hunting guy when i realized I had a lot of achieves spread all over the place.

I'm in the same boat, started achievement hunting with my Nord Stamina DK at PC launch, switched to my Bosmer Stamblade about a year later (when they were still broken asf) and then switched again to my High Elf Magicka Pet Sorc about 1 1/2 years ago.
Looks like i might have to go back to my Stamblade for my achievement hunting ...
There's a difference between gutted (which would render it useless) and betterish balance. Pets needed to be toned a bit and even so i don't think it will ruin the play style at all. The sorcs will be fine they always have been.
Quick side by side compare between live and pts on my Pet Sorc can be found here:

@ArcirisMy eyes are sore from too much forum reading and i couldn't find the damage delt by the Matriarch... if you used it at all.
And boy, 10k dps drop is not a "minor" adjustment lol.
And now the conclusion ...
ONE bar fight on the Nightmare Plateau world boss in Elsweyr.
No back bar buffs, just the bread & butter AOE skills for Pet MagSorcs:
Skills used:
- Hardened Ward
- Unstable Wall of Storms
- Liquid Lightning
Ultimate:
- Thunderous Rage
Monster:
- Infernal Guardian
Pet:
- Clannfear
LIVE *before* the last round of nerfs:
~40k dps, 2:45 time to kill
LIVE *currently*:
~30k dps, 3:28 time to kill
PTS *currently*:
~29k dps, 4:49 time to kill
While i was able to maintain about the same dps i had huge sustain issues during the whole fight. I had to chug potions on cooldown like candy even though i was constantly heavy attacking. The cost increase hits hard and i almost died at one point because i was completely out of magicka. Time to kill went up significantly because of that.

Because there's more to ESO than just PvP.
I use my Mag Pet Sorc to solo group vet dungeons and run vMA.
The shields are essential for a light armor build in those scenarios. Without them my build won't work.
If you can clear vMA, you can solo most base game group dungeons on vet.
If that bothers you, you will have to nerf every build that has ever cleared vMA.
Sounds ridiculous? Yeah, i thought so too ...

It sounds ridiculous when you say you have to nerf every build that's has ever cleared vMA. You shouldn't be able to clear most base vets solo and if that means nerfing pet builds, well it sucks for all of us but that's what's going to happen.

You think ZoS cares about people soloing? Seriously? It's the most inefficient way of doing anything, yet we still have fun with it.

On the plus side, stamina characters seem alright. Tested out my new stamblade on the PTS and I love it. Easier to light weave with the melee weapons (at least for me), and the cheesy animation canceling glitch that is now state-sanctioned by Zenimax Online props my damage up so much that I hardly notice the decimated dots. Going to make her on the official server later on tomorrow and accept my dragonknight's defeat at the hands of perennial nerfing. Join me. Give up. :-P

It depends on the reason for the nerfs really. If they are nerfing things because they don't want PVE players skipping phases then yes, they do care about people soloing their dungeons lol. Wouldn't you if you were designing this content? I know if I was and power creep had gotten to the point where 1 average player could solo content meant for 4 people I'd probably look at ways to rescale things. It doesn't matter how efficient or inefficient it is, it matters that it's happening.
