By the way the Liquid Lightning nerf can be ignored because every AoE DoT was nerfed.

I don't care about pvp, and the shield changes are really bad for pve.

This is why it should be balanced separate. But thats extra work, and thats a no no.

    @eso_lags
Because there's more to ESO than just PvP.

I use my Mag Pet Sorc to solo group vet dungeons and run vMA.
The shields are essential for a light armor build in those scenarios. Without them my build won't work.

For the bolded part: That’s why some builds are being nerfed. ;)

Possibly but you can solo many dungeons on more than a pet sorc. And this is something thats always gonna happen in a game like this. Many of those dungeons were made back at, what, vr12? or vr14? with 500 cp? I forget what it was. Now its 810 cp and stats have gone up, things have gotten stronger, zos put overpowered sets in the game.. Not sure why they would target classes over that.

I agree. Many different builds are getting a nerf with this leaked patch. It does make sense, though.
Want to enjoy the game more? Try both PvP (crybabies) and PvE (carebears). You'll get a better perspective on everyone's opinion.

Nerfs to MagSorcs defense were necessary and the nerf of the shield was maybe the one that hurts the least overall.

As if major changes from PTS week 1 to PTS final week are a thing. ZOS knows what they want, that’s why they barely react to feedback during PTS cycles and almost everything gets released like it was first seen during PTS week 1.

As a player that has soloed with DK, Templar, Sorc and NB with both Stam and magicka versions (veteran dungeons) ...

None of these changes will hamper that. It will hamper how some players could do it; but by no means prevents the majority of ways to accomplish this.

I also think what it would take to prevent this would make the overall game Way too hard for most of the population

    [snip]

This will change the meta up for which I am happy for and will make the game very interesting as we all adjust to, and figure out, what really works. I understand that petsorcs don't like a challenge and want the game to play itself for them even more so than it already does, because having NPC's that heal, tank and do damage for you isn't enough, but you will be ok... seriously. Pull up your big boy and girl pants and just enjoy learning what works, what doesn't and figuring out new and fun ways to play assuming it even comes to that. Could all be fake news for all we know.

From what I can tell from the Nerf Notes, people are going to regret the death of Pet Sorc... Petless Sorc is going to be a real monster and delete people so fast they won't have to use any kind of LoS :D

Now for PvE, people who wanted to preserve their hands from future Arthritis are going to have to embrace Housing as a way of life... or go look somewhere else.

    Summon Unstable Familiar:

Decreased the special ability of this summon and the Volatile Familiar morph to 2808 from 3510.
Increased the damage per tick by approximately 8% of the base ability, but reduced the damage per tick of Volatile by approximately 3% since it was using the wrong rank up.
Summon Unstable Clannfear (morph): Reduced the healing granted from the special activation of this ability by approximately 14% to ensure it’s in line with other burst heal abilities, such as Rushed Ceremony or Dragon’s Blood.

    Summon Winged Twilight:

The Zap and Kick attack from the Twilight and its morphs will now do the same damage, to help reduce volatility in performance.
Reduced the damage of the Winged Twilight and Twilight Matriarch by approximately 69% per hit.
Summon Twilight Tormentor (morph): Reduced the damage dealt by the Twilight’s Zap and Kick by approximately 35%. These attacks will now rank up in 1.1% damage per rank, rather than 5%.

This does nothing to hamper sorcs in PvP lol. The issue has always been LOS, not the damage, and you can retain most of the damage with the Tormentor morph. This mainly screws with PvE sorcs who used the healing morph for solo content (vMA) and off-healing in group dungeons.

Bolt Escape stun is also unblockable now. PvP nerf, right.

about time. mag/pet sorc has been ZOS's little OP darling for ages now.
and I suck at MagSorc, so the fact that even I was able to do decently with them means they were probably just a wee bit OP.

still and all, this patch is nerfmageddon. Low-key hoping for some serious backlash.
Shortly after the formation of the Ebonheart Pact, a Nord woman was given a tour of the Tribunal Temple. When later asked about the experience, she seemed upset. Suffice to say, the Dunmer were not pleased to hear this, and thus they inquired further.
"Well," the Nord frowned, "the priests were very angry and unwelcoming. They kept shouting things at me like "you can't drink that mead in here!" and "somebody stop her, she's running naked!" and "we can't catch her; she's covered in grease!""

There's a lot to unpack in these patch notes. It seems clear that the new team leaders are trying to leave their mark.

Unfortunately, they don't seem to have learned anything from the failures of their predecessors ....

In PVE everybody is nerfed, and my impression is that stamina is nerfed harder (at least due to flawless dawnbreaker changes). Given poor state of magicka now, our position might actually improve.

In PVP though it seems like medium armor will rule the party if those changes goes live.

EVERY build that relies on AoE DoTs has been nerfed as part of the major adjustments made to DoTs in general. This hits every Stamina and every Magicka build almost the same.

By improving long forgotten Magicka DoTs and making Destructive Touch a real DoT I’d say Magicka was buffed overall.

I mean, if "mindless" equals "having to manage 6 dots (that dont line up whatsoever) + 1 proc + spammable", then yes, it is a mindless play style.

I wont be surprised. This is what noobs and streamers want. Kills with out resistance or counter play. I'm am pretty sure AD will be door gated and permanent third position. Orcs and DC races ,stam sorcs will have buffs to insanity.
Fellow gamers. My sincere advice is never play AD. Never ever make AD character.

Avoid AD at all costs. AD races too.

AD is only meant to be potatoes with potatoe races easy to get steam rolled and killed easily. Just make a DC or ep character with tanky race and run behind streamers and some are zos employees.
Easiest and quickest way to get lot of aps in short time and make your life easier.
Remember necro bash shouldn't have existed. Zos made it only to appease and easy group kills.

They didn’t? Very small damage adjustments were made to the Matriarch for PvE, that’s the only nerf for MagSorcs besides their defensive capabilities. Liquid Lightning nerf doesn’t matter as all AoE DoTs were nerfed.

Wouldn't call matriarch/tormentor nerf "very small damage adjustments" - they got nerfed 69% and 35%. Whether this is good/bad isn't what I'm commenting - calling them 'very small" is clearly wrong.

Re: LL and AoE dots - It matters to the extent that whether you agree/disagree with the rationale, the basis for the change was nerf AoE dots in exchange for significant buffs to single target dots. You lose here, gain there. Ok so far.

But sorcs are losing significant class dot power because while everyone else with AoE dots are in same boat, it remains to be seen what sorcs will substitute to make up for it, as they dont have class single target dots to make up for that. E.g. there is no lose here, gain there, it's just lose (from class abilities)

What remains to be seen is the total net cumulative change to sorc dps - e.g. once you factor in new sets, new weapon skill line and guild skill line changes. Perhaps those new dots will make up for LL nerf. But what isn't so unclear is if your class has both single target + AoE target dots, then you're better off then sorcs because you actually got a gain while taking a loss, vs sorcs who just took a loss and have to look for replacement via guild/weapon line.
