Structures and their dimensions

I love that there are so many new structural furnishings but I can't figure out why they aren't made to fit together.
The Alinor wide staircases and ballroom floor for example are just shy of being the same width. Plus the ballroom floor is so tall and wide it's hard to use in most circumstances. Has anyone found a solution besides clockwork panels as a viable platform to go with the stairs?

✭It would also be cool to have some sort of size guide to furniture other than just standard, large etc. It is hard to figure out if items will fit. Scaling could be nice if it would be possible without stretching out the textures.2 -

The floor tiles when you preview an item are supposed to show size but they are arbitrary which makes them useless. Maybe a quick fix would be to display the dimensions during preview?
I haven't played with the Elsweyr structures yet. Are their dimensions less frustrating?
