Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

No one's talking about the 600 gem mount in the gambling boxes ($250-$300 to get enough gems)?

I really wanted this, but I have no gems, and I absolutely will NOT buy crates, ever.

They lost a potential sale right there with this gem nonsense.

ZOS are getting greedier and greedier, and all that is doing is making me not want to buy crowns any more. I usually only buy them in sales anyway, but they are going less and less distance, as stuff in the store gets more and more pricey. The more this goes on, the less I will spend, so they are shooting themselves in foot with this silly OTT pricing.

I get that they need the crown shop and subs in order to keep the servers up, but this sort of practise just alienates their customer base.

We all talked about it long ago, at this point I think apathy at ZOS pushing the bar and ignoring feedback has set in.

You act like someone is forcing you to buy it. I mean if you or other people don't have control over their purses that's not something to blame ZOS for, if the offer is a joke itself and no sane human being would get it? Yes.

But other then that I don't see the point to discuss matters like that, there is no benefit from doing so. Obviously as long as people buy overpriced Ingame items here will be offers like that. Basic Economy. You would do the same.

@AlienSlof ….. You do realize they are trying to make money correct? They are a business their out to make money while selling their products they make put out plenty of mounts people can buy.

Not everyone in the world can afford Ferraris or Lamborghinis its just how it is.

I am sure you know there are plenty of people sitting on stock piles of gems because they look at most of the crates and they might not like the selection *So they save them* and when that moment comes around once a year if its even that where something they really want shows up and its for a moderate amount of gems they can get it.

If you cant save the gems you get then idk what to tell ya if you cant buy enough crown crates to get the gems you need I still don't know what to tell ya and this isn't just to you specifically its to all the people that do this every single time they see some item they *Got to have* and its for a price they aren't willing to pay.

All these folks saying oh we aren't gona spend any more money on zos because their too greedy! its your choice you are perfectly welcome to do such.

Though you do realize if everyone in this game closed their wallets turned off their subs that ESO would eventually close down assuming they didn't change their marketing ideas or strategies?

Items like the fiery dwarven spider are *Whale* appreciation items just like Zos has their lil statues in the crown store for people who sub .

These 600 gem mounts are Zos's way of saying thank you for supporting our game to the level that you do for the folks that put in more than just a monthly sub or a few crown crates once a blue moon.

@MaxJrFTW ironic thing I actually got Frost sabre atronach when It came out I barely had 200 gems laying around but soon as I saw the mount I knew I wanted and while I wasn't exactly giggity about the 600 gems I understood then and there if I wanted it id be forking over real money.

Naturally I did it was worth it I enjoyed the mount regardless of its price tag and while I may replace it for the dragonscale storm wolf when I can get some more crates I don't regret the purchase of the frost sabre atronach.

I wont deny the concept of 600 gems might seem greedy to some maybe even a lot but I don't hold it against Zos for doing it that way granted id like them to fix the lag and tweak some things in game and fix this horrid stuck in combat bug while I fork over the money for said mount and shinies.

That being said its a process maybe im *** for believing one day they will fix the lag, stuck in combat bugs and balance the classes if I am *** for it then iv only my self to blame lol

Honestly this might be the straw that breaks the camel's back for me.

    Good. Go.

It's all cosmetic and aesthetic. You can also complete all content in the game without these things.

Millennials might not get it but ZoS supports more than 100 people's livelihoods and families. I take pride in purchasing occasional things as it directly supports the developers of the game I have come to love so much and have invested thousands of hours in.

I ranted about it in my own thread. I'd been looking forward to this thing for a long time, but at $250 it better run trials and win achievements for me. It boggles me that they'd rather hold out for the fewer people who can afford to drop hundreds of dollars on something than have my measly $50ish reliably. And it's cost them in resentment this time, too. I'm liable to spend my money on other things just because they ticked me off.

What's there to talk about? This is what microtransactions are. How can you possibly be surprised? IMHO if you do microtransactions - any microtransactions - either you don't need the money or you need better judgement. There are no good microtransactions. They always shift the focus from selling a game people want to buy and possibly subscribe to towards selling pixels and lottery tickets.

The point is that spending 250$ doesn't seem all that "micro". Especially in countries where base salary is about 450$.

Besides that's what the forums are for, voicing your opinions and complaining. Thanks to complaining we got for example thre free race/name changes instead of just one race change.

Look, I don't mean to pick a fight with you or anyone. I have a strong position against microtransactions. The fact that they're not so micro is self-evident to me . As long as there is no limit to what you can buy, e.g. with loot crates and consumables, they could never be micro. But that's what they're called, and discussing semantics is pointless. In-game purchases bad, is all I'm saying. The "don't buy into it" part was generic, not aimed at you specifically, though I know it's useless - people will still buy, yes even the $300 mount.

So we can agree on that. No hard feelings. ;)

I want to add that I'm not really angry about that state of things, I mean it's just entertainment. When I'll think it's too much then I'll move on to some other game. But still it's nice to voice my opinion on that matter whenever the topic comes up especially since it's not singular to ESO. Maybe it'll amount to some change, maybe it won't. It can't hurt to try. If enough of people will complain (and adjust their behavior too) the change can happen. You know, little by little does the trick.

They've just re-skinned the original spider again, it's not worth that much.

I'd of bought it if it was just purchasable through crowns - I won't be chucking money down the drain on crates that I don't need, just to acquire gems.

There were lot of threads about first gem-exclusive mount, the senche. I think now people simply got used to existence of such mounts (oh, and we still have gem-exclusive stick dragon in store), so the spider doesn't provoke as much reaction...

For the price of 600 gems, the mount should be exceptionally well-made. Unfortunately, both senche and spider have major flaws :/ Stick dragon is really overpriced cause it has no additional special effects and barely differs from guar/horse when you look from a distance.

Senche has no summoning animation and effect, it sounds very quiet (unedited voice of ordinary senche with a slight echo added to it), doesn't leave foot prints, roar has some effect attached to it but it's not impressive. I bought it simply because I liked the look - everything else in that mount was a disappointment :'(

Can't say much about spider as I have only seen them idling or riding away - no idea if it has some fiery explosion when it "roars". At least it has summoning animation with some additional effect added, but it also doesn't leave any foot prints and sounds of idling/jumping/moving are not edited... :|
I'm personally indifferent to mechanical spiders - I bought ordinary golden spider on NA server, and click-clack sounds of it when idling or moving makes me irritated for some reason :/ But I admit that datamined picture made me curious - it could look surprisingly awesome and possibly have some different sounds. Unfortunately, in store preview I don't like textures on it, and idling/riding sounds like ordinary dwemer spider.

Although they did one thing right, that's why I've already seen few people with new mounts yesterday - the spider is definitely eye-catching, from the distance or from close-up, especially compared to frost sabre cat :D

It's an ugly reskin of the superior bronze coloured one which was 3000 crowns I think. Let's face it, ZOS's monetization department thinks we got way too many free gems from the free crates to the point that people weren't gambling their savings away anymore. That is the reason why they keep releasing these gem-only items and make them ridiculously expensive.

I am honestly more pissed about the mounts that are in crates and u cant actually buy but have to gamble for them. Those are extremely annoying and there needs to be added a way to get them, let it be 100, 200 dollars, whatever, there needs to be set value.
