Article says it would need around 25 Mb/s to play at just 1080p60. Run the math on that.
That would be 90,000 Mbits per hour of gaming. divide by 8 turn it into 11,000 MB or 11 GB of data per hour.
And for what exactly? To pay Google some large fee to use their proprietary platform? No thanks, I'll keep control over my own software.
So PC users will have to wait for google to approve of updates made to the game, just like our poor console comrades have to endure right now with Sony and Microsoft?
So google has even our ingame data to analyse and sell to the highest bidding business/government for "running customized ads" and "improved service"?

This table would disagree with your false assertion.

Front end hardware vs. backend hardware. At that point, performance is only limited by bandwidth

Pretty much. Lots of the US has garbage download speeds, too. At higher prices than in EU or SE Asia. (part of the issue is being such a large country - lots of "rural" areas far from decent infrastructure. But even populated/dense areas can have bad service, since the ISPs don't have a strong reason to improve quickly and/or have local/limited monopolies.)
edit: oh, yeah - Canada apparently also has plenty of data caps.
As with all "OMG The Future Is Here™" streaming services, this Stadia thing will live or die by the fact that people can't get decent performance with all the network latency/slowness/etc. I'm sure it'll be great if you happen to live in one of the places with Google Fiber. Me, on the other hand - even with theoretically-30 mbps Comcast service, my best Steam download speed is ~2.2. When Destiny 2 was given away 'free' last November, it took me 10-11+ hours to download it. 6 hours last week to download Division 2. Yeah, I miss the days of installing off physical discs.
