I used to be on the "faction lock for the campaign" bandwagon but I really think it would drive more players away rather than fix the trolling/griefing.
I think a new motivation to stick with factions, rather than a full lock would be better. You could make AP character bound for example, so that only the toon that earned it could spend it. That would be an incentive for folks to stick to one faction for the duration, or at least a majority of the campaign.

Just played tonight with each faction locked. Ad took glade and dc fought back in, only for ep to come running out a tower. After dc were dead I watched as ep and ad stood by each other as the keep was repaired.
It may have been fine in the past to change factions but people now see to much reward in winning campaigns, no matter how rubbish it really is, and it’s ruining the game for the majority.

Yeah, I'm not sure that's a great excuse for wasting other peoples time, because while you thought the scroll carrier was taking your scroll home, they ended up handing it over to the enemy because they are good friends. Or when a member of your alliance leads a group of pvers just trying to get war horn and vigor into a trap, tells them to start sieging a keep, switches to enemy faction and slaughters them all for the huge def tick.Ilithyania wrote: »its a videogame, humans do silly stuff.

I doubt there will ever be a faction lock in this game. Its been poorly designed from the megaserver to the multi-alliance guilds with pvp in mind.
With Alliance Loyalty in mind ZOS would need to reconstruct the core of the game and make cyrodiil server v server. There's nothing worse seeing your so called alliance watching the enemy attack your keep or kill a fellow soldier all because they are in the same guild or they are friends.
To the OP, my advice is hope games like Camelot Unchained happen or someone you know wins the lottery and develops a true realm v realm game. ESO is not that game.
It should have been 1 account = server and alliance/realm. If you wanted to join another faction on that server you needed another account or delete your existing one and join it.
In its prime Dark ages of Camelot was the perfect example.
It was character bound by alliance, hell you couldn't even see other people in other alliances. You also could not go to other alliance areas.
Then they must have realized their content was thin so they allowed you to go to the other zones with cadwell silver and gold
There may be an element of strategy involved as well...... I mean when I was on last night AD was winning the Campaign EP was about 100 points behind and DC was about 1000 points behind EP....... as far as strategy goes EP wants anyone but AD to be holding the the AD scrolls. I would say as long as DC is holding AD's scroll EP will be gaining points on them, so its in EP best interest to be actively defending the AD scroll that is held by DC.
I myself have never been in cyrodil on anything but an EP toon.... I wouldn't even know what the home camps of the other two factions look like.

Again, was this on Vivec?
Did you see any guild tags on either group?
I know damn well it wasnt my group, because we dont play that crap and I dont want anyone blaming my group for something it did not do.
Another AD group may have taken it later but I dont remember.
In any case, I did not see it happen tonight but we have all seen this sort of thing happen in the past.
Its really funny that a DC player would complain about an EP/AD coop because we have seen EP and DC do it many many times in the past. How many times has EP taken a DC scroll and DC doesnt even make an attempt to take it back at all for hours and hours? How many times has EP back doored a keep behind DC and helped them take it or helped them defend it against AD. LOTS AND LOTS. You dont complain about it then do you? You didnt complain about it last week when DC and EP had AD gated and one of our scrolls got taken, did you?
But since its EP and AD youve seen do this NOW its a problem?
Riiiight
In any case, faction lock wont stop it from happening. A 3 way fight is going to go that way sometimes, 2 are going to be simultaneously attacking one once in a while.
How many times have any of the two factions worked together to de-emp the third faction. Sometimes it is the only way to de-emp is for the other two factions to cooperate and not attack each other for a bit to get it done.

They had that for 2 years, population was never balanced and pvp never had a working together feel.
There is not enough interest from players.
