Never gonna happen. ZOS have already shot it down.Your poll is bad and you should feel bad.
Very much this.
I fully understand the performance issues that Oceanic players have, but the problem as always is that people who want to make a fair point muddy the waters by making a frankly pathetic poll that cannot remotely achieve anything.
The Facebook statement - https://www.facebook.com/370789406653075/posts/816267168771961/ - isn't primarily about performance, it's about the non-viability of launching a local server for those players given the limited number of players concerned and the resulting inferior game experience they would enjoy in terms of e.g. group and PvP activity etc. Counter that by all means, but do so by contesting the number of players, not by making immature and biased comments about the ping.
The problem is highlighted by the comment of one of the Oceanic players on Facebook who says that when he plays on the NA server in his timezone the server is dead, but when he plays at weird hours i.e. prime NA time it's so full he crashes. That's an indication that the number of players in his timezone isn't remotely viable for a separate megaserver, which is the only point ZOS are making.
I'm 100% in support of Oceanic players, but far from advancing their case this poll sets it back by trivialising the issue in immature terms. Press them on the routing issues, and if there are grounds on which to contest the player numbers then press them on that too.

a poll that asks if you are playing from a certain location is biased???
I read the rest of your post but I'm Interested in how your ping is so low?Cave_Canem wrote: »

I'm in Melbourne and have a ping under 200ms.
For reference the 'hard cap' for the average human reaction to single stimuli is about 200ms
There was a gamer recorded at 120ms reaction speed but that is the best of the best.
For reaction time to multiple stimuli (ie. PvP or peak hour driving) the average is about 500ms reaction time.
Also important to remember that 'ping' is not latency which is the thing you actually observe.
Getting too caught up in ping is like thinking that your cars speedo determines speed rather than your engine, the road, the surrounding traffic and how hard you're hitting the throttle.

<snip> Which is all well and good, but the problem is, nobody was really asking for an OCE megaserver. <snip>.

When the answers are:
Yes, my ping too high
no, i'm american and i complain when my ping is above 100
Where is the "Yes I'm playing from those locations and my ping is fine"?
The poll is biased because it only supports the theory that all players in AUS , NZ , JPN have shockingly bad ping results which is the pollster's bias. There is nowhere for a respondent that has acceptable ping to respond, making a biased poll. Finally there are no empirical values, it just states "ping too high", seeing as ping is a discrete measured value and too high is an arbitrary range it further leans towards bias.
If the poll was "Are you playing from a certain location?", and the answers were yes or no, or are you playing from a certain location and giving some ping results then there would be no bias. The poll only supports the pollsters contention that Oceania is unplayable and all in the US are complaining about first world problems. It's pretty much the definition of bias.
It's not like its the end of the world to have a biased poll on the forums, it just seems that people get so passionate about their point of view they forget there may be other people that experience things differently and that a more diverse range of views generally leads to a better solution. For instance if there was a range of results presented, perhaps we could narrow down the issue, maybe its PC related, maybe Brisbane gets better results, maybe its the time of day (perhaps backups are occurring). Possibly its based on ADSL vs NBN or NBN FTTN vs NBN FTTP; perhaps we could all come to a evidence based conclusion that it is all on ZOS and they need to do better!

Just looking to get a general idea of how many people are playing from the OCE/Asia region to see if ZOS FB statement is actually somewhat accurate, i know that not every single player will see this. Got to pay for my ping to be at somewhat acceptable levels on top of eso+ .
also just another thread to keep this topic alive

Im from Europe why do I not get a poll option? I get 40-60 ping on eu servers btw, 100ms would definately be comlaint worthy.
Please make better polls in the future.

I have NBN Fibre to the Premises, a great gaming rig and quality networking hardware and I work in IT and have my gear set up to . You can have the best gaming PC in the world and pay for the fastest internet, but if your modem/router is 2nd rate, you're still going to have issues; I consider my Draytek an investment in both my leisure time and my sanity!
; and also what these local issue might be? I appear to have missed it and I'm sure that many, many people might be interested in sharing the benefit of your research and skill. Thanks in advance.to avoid any local hardware/software issues
