Is "Awesome Guild Store" addon still needed?

Tbh even if the new guild store ui is missing "known" / "unknown" motifes button searching is still faster than with AGS addon. AGS would still show you empty pages that you need to click and go through, untill on the 10th page you would finally see the motif you don't know yet. The new default UI shows it all on 1 page which makes the search much faster. And btw. You can still hover mouse coursor over a motif page and see if it sasy "known motif style". New base game ui is better than AGS imho (unless of course we will have new version of AGS addon that will be able to display all search results on one page).

I don't think anyone is arguing that they'd like to give up the new search feature.
There's conveniences in the AGS UI that people will still like.
The filters do have their uses, especially for searches where the item name doesn't matter or isn't known.

That's for me the only point in favor about the improved UI, though it's definitely NOT enough to be willing to give up on very needed features of AGS and convenient design.
(Though I guess search will be same in updated AGS).

What annoys me the most from vanilla ui is that the list jums to the top everytime you buy Something.

When buying multiple items in a row, crafting materials for example, you go down to buy the cheapest and after you bought it jumps to top and you buy the overpriced shizzle.... Was way better how AGS was handling it.

    Yes,

Although the new UI is an huge improvement.

Awesomeguildstore is VASTLY better then the new Guild store UI.

Awesomeguildstore is not updated yet, but they do have a Beta version that works and you can download now. Users of it say it works fine, just some MM prices don't show up yet. However, the creater is working on it.

Awesome Guild Store is way better then the new UI.

Regarding the comments lamenting that ZOS hasn't implemented more features: I asked the creator of AGS this question a while back. Perhaps their insightful reply will shed some light on things:
It's mostly due to time constraints. Unlike addon authors they cannot just make something and release it. They have many separate teams involved. Designers to plan how it is supposed to look like, management to approve, UI programmers to implement, server programmers to provide the backend APIs, artists to create the assets, QA to test everything. In addition they have to create, update and fix many more UI elements than just the guild store. There is simply not enough time for them to catch up with the extensive feature set of a big addon.

To conclude, ZOS is now providing the basics, while AGS will provide more sophisticated functions for those who need them, once it's updated. I think that's fair.

Does the Awesome Guild Store add on also come with a "Known / Unknown" toggle?

Gosh, that feature alone makes it 1000x worth it to have.

There are two thing I sorely miss in this new base game UI:
    1. an option to choose how many items of a stack I list for sale, without the need to manually split stacks
    2. an option to list stacked items by per item price, instead of the full stack total

Other than that, I think I can live without an addon

I'm glad I won't need it any more, it was always a hassle to use with a controller and the new official UI is many times faster. I don't miss any functionality, quite the opposite.

I wont comment on "I don't miss any functionality, quite the opposite.", it's not worth it. Though it seems you have no clue or maybe, like me, English is not your language and the sentence is not completely clear, you CANNOT use AGS with a controller, there is no such thing.

I'm an hybrid user, I use both keyboard and gamepad, switching very often depending of what I'm doing and/or the way I want to do it.

Everytime I sell or check guild traders obviously I do it with gamepad off and if you had hassle doing that... maybe you are unaware you can keybind gamepad-mode and switch it on off with a simple press, go to controls and bind it, no hassle at all.

Awesome Guildstore is a terrible addon. It just doesn't work properly when using search function. It has been confirmed by me and tens of my friends who had similiar issues. I'm glad that we have this fuction by default. As for the other functions there are better addons like Group Loot Notifier or FCO Item Saver.

I don’t say this lightly, but you’re doing it wrong. AGS is a fantastic addon, and it work so beautifully when you use it right. Anyone who says it flatly doesn’t work (prior to U21) is either user error or a conflicting addon.

Make sure your search terms and filters are logical. If in doubt clear all criteria and start over. And never abruptly exit the guild store while a search is in process, that can corrupt the search process and nothing will be found in any store until you reload UI.

When used right it is one of the most seamlessly perfect addons. After going without it for 2 days I feel it’s notably better than the improved base UI. Zeni’s improvements are good and will be more than adequate for people who didn’t use AGS, and will be a life changer on console. But those of us who’ve been using AGS for years will remain underwhelmed by the vanilla functionality and will be eagerly awaiting the updated addon.

The biggest reason that they do not implement existing mods has to do with copyright issues. There have been many long-running and expensive battles fought over copyright of code. It is very unfortunate, but true. It would be nice, however, if they could utilize some of the ideas, even if they can't use the mod's own code.

Heck yeah. The new Guild Store from ZOS is well behind what Awesome Guild Store offers. There is a working update for AGS on Dropbox for Wrathstone. I imagine it will make it to ESOUI.com soon.

I am very much looking forward to an updated and compatible version of AGS. I am struggling without it:

    - the "known" filter
    - the easy access to your different guilds
    - use of the craft bag
    - not having to split items as you can easily select how many exactly you want to sell in a given transaction

AGS is such a great add on.

There is already a 'beta' version but you need to get it of dropbox (for now) and my limited testing has shown it to work with no obvious bugs

The latest dev version works pretty well. Search is fast. So nice to have the unknown flag back for searching recipes, designs, patterns and motifs when "window" shopping for deals.

No more going through blank pages, they just appear. And you can sort by different fields rather than just price. It also remembers searches so you can quickly run through multiple vendors without even having to hit search as it runs your last search automatically :-)

So good to have you back AGS!

I would not be surprised if ZOS owns any addons for this game no matter who made them. That would be noted in the TOS and I have not read that fully no matter how many times I have agreed to it.

They for sure technically own the mods made using the editors for their stand alone games. The fact that addons for ESO are made with script editors should not change that legal claim. And, addons are client side where ZOS can do this server side. Which is why ZOS new UI is faster as it just sends the filtered data, not applies filters to the full list locally.

In other words, if ZOS wants to, they could incorporate any addon ideas they want to into the game with not much more than a thank you.

It has been an obvious broken part of the game since launch.

It is why a large number of active players on PC have been using addons for doing guild searches. Console does not have the benefit of said addons.

So yes, it needed to be fixed. Plain and simple. Though Zos always comes up a dollar short when the finally do something. It would seem logical to build upon the ideas that work well, but I guess beggars cannot be choosers.

The modders aren't making any money at this, certainly not significant amounts. It should be easy to reach an arrangement with them in most cases.

That said, there's little reason to assume ZoS would WANT to use mod code in their base product.

By the way -- the worst thing about AGS has long been that it relied on base search pages from the guild store, and hence could serve up empty results pages. (Second-worst thing -- those pages seemed to render more slowly when they were completely empty.)

If a new version of the mod can work though ZoS own new filtering capabilities, then it will offer the best of both worlds. If not, I may turn AGS on for some characters but off for others for a while. I'll still be delighted to have AGS overall.

Prior to the guild trader UI changes in update 21, there was not a way to search the entire guild store. The search functions in AGS could only work on a per page basis, which is why you had to click through empty pages of search results.

That wasn't an addon issue, that was a ZOS issue.

The changes to the guild store UI were HUGE, and required some significant reworks for both AGS and MM. The dev version of AGS that's available looks great, and I'm looking forward to having it back!
