The terminology in this thread is interesting.

"Using an exploit" or "Exploiting" is short for exploiting a flaw in a system. It is a kind of cheating. It may or may not involve hacking.

Intentionally exploiting any flaw in a system to break the rules is cheating. That's true whether it's something like a UI glitch to gain more set bonuses than is allowed by the rules or changing values in memory to increase recovery. Both are examples of exploits.

Technically, hacking would be the process of finding those vulnerabilities.

On to the OP:

How do you know if you see a cheater? I don't immediately recall concluding for certain anyone was cheating prior to the Zazeer event. Subtle cheating is basically impossible to observe casually. Proving it, in most cases, would require heavy analysis.

That was the point of what Zazeer did: ESO memory hacking had been possible but in the shadows of plausible deniability for years. People would argue that ESO was vulnerable to memory hacking, and for years the cheaters and friends of cheaters demanded it be proven. So Zazeer did.

Memory hacking requires a lot of time and effort to refine safe cheating techniques. The people who put that kind of effort in generally do not want their work spoiled by sharing it with the wrong players. That's why it took years for the Zazeer event to happen.

So yeah, ESO is still vulnerable to various forms of cheating. It is likely we have all encountered it without realizing it. With that said, I want to be clear that, by far, most accusations of cheating are false and many players use the specter of cheating as an excuse for losing.

I think everyone has seen shady stuff. There probably is a way to exploit stats in the game. I've seen my stats sometimes far higher or lower than they should be, but never got to the bottom of it. Once I even actually had 100% crit... It's likely someone has probably found out how to exploit it and/or didn't do the honorable thing and remove gear+replace...

Last ones I saw were people exploiting the hist bark and twice born set five piece bonuses. So, it's been awhile.
