Complete all death challenges.

Complete all death challenges still require you to have completed Deadly Crypt Survivor. I googled this and I've seen threads from all the way back to 2016, both in General Discussion and Bug Reports. None of those threads got an answer and the bug still remains.

It shouldn't surprise me that the developers would ignore this (it's not part of the crown store after all), but it's such a minor thing that could easily have been fixed.

Well i mean, at least you're in luck, there's still a bug on CoH2 that makes it so you get survivor before you even have to fight the final boss. If you're on PC/NA and need help hmu.
Since everyone seems to be doing this,
    DPS Builds:

That achievement was instituted all the way back in Update 2, I think it was? When CoH2 was introduced.

It wasn’t until One Tamriel that they revamped dungeon achievements, and it seems they just left that entire achievement how it was instead of making things consistent.

This post makes me feel old.

CoH2 was in at launch, as I recall. Also, yeah, that bug's been around forever. The downside being that the final boss you need to clear for the achievement has a nasty one-shot mechanic.

CoH2 was the first dungeon added after release in 1.2 (AKA lighting patch for fellow salty PvPers) when we got Lower Craglorn and the level cap increased to VR12. All the other Veteran dungeons (Banished Cells, Fungal Grotto, and Spindleclutch) only scaled to VR10 at the time.

I was wrapping up the last of my death challenges the other night and was really surprised to see a no-death in with all the hardmodes to get the dye. Kind of head-scratching, but not that big of a deal other than being inconsistent.

As another poster said, you don't have to beat the final boss without a death. Just all the others, which makes it more bearable.

The problem isn't that it's hard to get. The problem is that something as simple and easy to fix, has slipped under the radar for over two years.

Remember it was so hard back then, a lot like current vet dlc.
5 hours in Fungal 2 back then it was just vet fungal

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

This is the correct answer. And yes, I'm doing a bit of mild necroing because this issue was brought up in another thread.

It's always been like this. You gotta remember the context of when this achievement was first created. vCoH (what is today known as CoH2) was the first "DLC dungeon" (except there weren't any DLCs back then; the point is that this is the first dungeon to be added to the game post-launch), and achievements were added to highlight this new content. Not nearly as many as the achievements that today's DLC dungeons carry with them.

Anyway, with vCoH came a new type of achievement: no-death. This was the first no-death dungeon achievement to be added to the game. None of other dungeons had no-death achievements. There wasn't even a "Survivor Challenges" category! So no-death vCoH was treated at the time as just another challenger achievement--it was treated almost like a second hard-mode for the dungeon. And to make this achievement suitably rewarding, they created a new "Complete All Death Challenges" ensemble achievement and included this new, difficult no-death achievement to make it suitably exclusive at the time. Later, vCoA (known today was CoA2) added the game's second no-death achievement. It wasn't until late 2016, in the One Tamriel patch, that no-death achievements were added to other dungeons and that the Survivor Challenges category was created.

TL;DR: I'm pretty sure that it's intended, and it makes sense if you consider the history of the dungeon in question.

I realize this was necroed, but I went digging and ran into a minor nitpick: I'd thought that maybe the achievement had been added with the dye system but I was mistaken.

1.1.2 added Craglorn and moved the level cap to v12.

1.2.3 added Vet Crypt of Hearts (which would eventually become CoH2), so you're correct in that. Mybad, it's been almost five years, and I did screw up that detail. I remembered Vet City of Ash (CoA2) being added, and mis-remembered that the first and only.

I'd thought that this achievement might have been added to show off the new voidstone dye, but, that was added in 1.3.4 (I assume, since dyes were added in 1.3.4.)

Since we're on a kick, and because I don't want to dig up patch notes again:

1.4.3 added Upper Craglorn, and moved the level cap to v14. Also the first time the patch notes were posted on the forums, I think. At least the first time I could find them there.

1.5.2 added Vet City of Ash. I want to say this was about the time I hit v14. Which probably explains why I remember CoH2 as being a launch dungeon. I remember running it back in the day, but I wouldn't have had access to it when it dropped, and only got in there later, after the level cap increased to v14. I'd also erroneously remembered Elden 2 as being the highest level vet dungeon at launch, but I can't find any information on which one fit where in progression, for vet. Also, 1.5.2 introduced Pledges (and the Undaunted Enclaves). It introduce Infallible Aether and Vicious Ophidian (though, those sets look very different today.) (Along with Eternal Disappointment.)

Incidentally, I'm not sure when Monster Sets were originally added. I would think 1.5.2, along with the Pledges, but there's a stray mention to Nightflame being changed in the patch notes, and no mention of them being added, so that might predate it. If that's the case, I have no memory of how we were supposed to get shoulders.

1.6.5 added the Champion System and Justice System. Which, it's kinda nuts to realize it wasn't part of the game until that late.

Something interesting I ran across in digging through old patch notes: Some achievements have been fixed, but it was only when they were behaving incorrectly (awarding credit for things that hadn't happened, were not awarding credit when completed, or weren't awarding the intended dyes/items/titles/whatever.) I'm inclined to say, if the achievement technically works, it's probably not getting changed.

It's nice to know I'm not the only one making that typo. But, that's a good recap. Digging through the history is really interesting. There's a lot of stuff that, even long-time players, think of as base game launch content that really wasn't.

I mean, I remembered V10 was the original level cap. I remembered Upper and Lower Craglorn. I remembered dyes were added. I forgot that No Death achievements weren't a thing, and even forgot that picking up trash tier weapons off the racks was added post-launch. Also, I'd forgotten that before the lighting patch, interiors were kinda uniformly dark or bright. The window light patterns were added with vCoH.

So, it's a necro, but it's an interesting one.

@code65536, you're also making a pretty good argument that this isn't a bug, and really was intended behavior. It's weird now, but this was something they clearly wanted when they put the achievement together.
