Chapter III: Elsweyr does contain less features than Morrowind or Summerset...

... but still costs as much as Morrowind did back at launch.

I mean how is this reasonable pricing?

Morrowind brought us two major features:

- New Class: Warden
- New PvP Mode: Battlegrounds

Summerset brought us one and a half new major features:

- New Skill line: Psijik Order
- New profession: Jewelrycrafting

Elsweyr will bring us one major feature:

- New Class: Necromancer

Every year since they introduced the "Chapter format" each Chapter was smaller and contained less features than the previous one. As much as I love the things they showed us about Necromancer (and Elsweyr!) it's just one new class. Besides that there is nothing gameplay-changing or worth mentioning. I do not count something like UI overhaul as a new feature, it's not. If we take this into account Morrowind and Summerset still would have offered a lot more.

The entire Elsweyr Chapter is advertised with NECROMANCER and DRAGONS (that are basically no feature, were Sloads a feature? No...). That's it. On top of that we get two dungeon DLCs this year - again - in Q1 and Q3 which is the most lazy approach to fill the quarterly DLCs with content.

Don't get me wrong, there is still the "JUICY E3 ANNOUNCEMENT" Rich was talking about and the Q4 DLC but besides that... is nothing. Elsweyr offers us a (beautiful) new zone, a brand new class and a lot of QOL fixes / updates (that cannot be regarded as features or selling points). That's it. What will we get next year? Just one skill line and nothing else?

Honestly, as much as I liked the "new content cadence" and their Chapter approach after Morrowind, up to now it has been a major disappointment when it comes to developing / evolving the game (besides just adding new zones / quests).

What's your opinion on that topic?

As it looks now, 2019 will be the year ESO got the least amount of new stuff or features overall, the only year we might have gotten less was 2014, ESO's launch year - is that how to celebrate your 5th anniversary?

Not what I heard yesterday in the TwitchTV announcements. Alot more comes with Elsweyr.

Besides that stop whining. They announced a new product (=expansion) and set a price to this product. Don't like it ? Then don't buy it but please stop littering these forums with useless trolling threads

I'm just really confused that they brand dragons as a "feature".

Besides that, yeah. I cry everywhere that we should get some new character systems, like spellcrafting, secondary classes, new weapons like spears, etc, as we haven't had those since ... well, never, really. Constant aimless balance changes aside, our characters are the same they have been years ago.
ESO gets a tad wider every year, but remains as deep (or shallow) as ever.
Alandrol Sul: He's making another Numidium?!?
Vivec: Worse, buddy. They're buying it.

Every 4 players out of 3 are damn staminas these days, and this topic i believe has nothing to do with your personal qq.

As for the OP, we get artifacts in Cyrodiil if that counts :p

They will be pausing CP progression whilst they review the system. No one at ZOS has said anything about removing it.

Oh, what did you hear and what did I miss when it comes to major features in the upcoming Chapter? A lot more of what exactly? As I said, decoupling IC from Cyrodiil or giving us a new Guild Trader UI is no feature at all, that's a quality of life change.

And where exactly is my post whining? I am pointing out the obvious and it's a fact that even after the very feature-less 2018 ESOs 5th anniversary seems to have even less features.

    The tone's indicative of whining.

As they stated, they took a different approach with the game this go around. Either buy it or don't. Those are your options.

Not every expansion will provide the same level of content either. Look at WoW as an exanole - and they provide less meaningful content at a slower rate too.

Performance fixes (I hope that this time they will do it right)
Additions to the crime system (bounty for using necro skills in towns)

I'm on the fence just because of the cost. I would like the new class (and that Ashen Scar Jerboa pet) but $70 for those? Idk, I've been only logging in to do my daily writs lately as I'm burned out. Glad it comes out in June, I might feel more excited then, even though Elsweyr has zero appeal to me (but Summerset and Morrowind were not the most appealing places either IMO).

Edit: Looking at the games slated for release this year, I probably will still buy this chapter. Cyberpunk and that Obsidian game are so far the only appealing games to me this year.

As you said, that are FREE quality of life changes. No features, no content. If bug fixing and trying to solve performance problems now is a thing that has to be advertised and additionally paid your bar for content or features is very low.

I complain where complaining is due and with Elsweyr it's the case, especially with that heavy price tag.

Personally, as a huge Skyrim, ESO and ES overall fan, I'm a bit like "oh dragons again". They are fierce, mystic and cool, I understand they (can) fit the lore, but it's kind of dejavu - we do have Skyrim that is mostly fixed on the dragons.

Also due to MMO nature, I don't expect dragons will be "unexpected", probably will be like bosses and such. So there goes the dragon "threat".

As I said in another post, I do think ESO is overpriced. They made you think they need tons of money to sustain as a big game, but I guess majority of $$$ is going to other directions, like making of new IPs and whatever they are after, not ESO.
We have base game + dlc editions + subscription + housings that are ultra expensive with mostly crown-only furniture + loot gambling boxes + huge crown-only store + new chapters.

I’ll be honest. We have to see what else is going on. There’s probably more than just Necromancers.

On a side note, Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild both gave us skill lines as well. Just fyi.

and, although tied to the new zone but i really look forward to it:

    - Massive new world events: Dragon Attacks (and the zone will probably be more open because the dragons need to fly freely so less invisible walls

And probably more stuff they didn't want to give away yet. As they mumbled in the twitch stream.

    Elsweyr will bring:

    - A new map. Possibly bigger than Summerset.
    - A new trial. Bigger than Cloudrest, since every boss will have its own unique Hard Mode.
    - A new class. Better than a tiresome skill line.
    - A new lore. Better than the boring Altmer entitlement.
    - A new worldboss event type. Better than killing slimy sloads
    - A new story. Longer than Summerset one since it will last a year.
    - A new battleground map.
    - A new separate campaign for IC.
    - A new Cyrodiil artifact system.
    - A new batch of houses.

Sorry. I agree. That's a pretty small Chapter.

Elsweyr will not in itself bring this, because the story is set over both the chapter and the rest of the year's DLC, meaning that you have to buy all of it to see the whole story.

I know. But surely there will be a storyline in the chapter itself. And this is, obviously, connected to the Season of the Dragon (Wyvern) line

Sure, but you should compare like with like. Can't say that Elsweyr will have a longer story than Summerset because of the Season of the Dragon stuff when Summerset was one chapter and Season of the Dragon is one chapter + 3 DLC.

It is because only two of your points are Chapter features. The rest isn't a major selling point, wasn't in Morrowind and wasn't in Summerset and won't be in Elsweyr. Maybe, maybe we can count the trial, too, but every Chapter offered a trial so nothing new here either.

According to what it has been told, the worldboss encounter is completely different to what it has always been so far, hence I would consider that as a unique point as for now.

Cloudrest, given its size it feels more like half a trial.
The new Elsweyr trial will surely be longer, bigger and still, delivering a mechanic other trials haven't presented yet. So, it might not be a selling point for you, but it might be for others (as for every other point).
