Chapter III: Elsweyr does contain less features than Morrowind or Summerset...

I will have to agree, it's overpriced. An expansion of this size shouldn't cost $40, in a game that has a subscription and store, there are full games at that price. At least let us buy it with crowns.

... but still costs as much as Morrowind did back at launch.

I mean how is this reasonable pricing?

Morrowind brought us two major features:

    - New Class: Warden
    - New PvP Mode: Battlegrounds

Summerset brought us one and a half new major features:

    - New Skill line: Psijik Order
    - New profession: Jewelrycrafting

Elsweyr will bring us one major feature:

    - New Class: Necromancer

Every year since they introduced the "Chapter format" each Chapter was smaller and contained less features than the previous one. As much as I love the things they showed us about Necromancer (and Elsweyr!) it's just one new class. Besides that there is nothing gameplay-changing or worth mentioning. I do not count something like UI overhaul as a new feature, it's not. If we take this into account Morrowind and Summerset still would have offered a lot more.

The entire Elsweyr Chapter is advertised with NECROMANCER and DRAGONS (that are basically no feature, were Sloads a feature? No...). That's it. On top of that we get two dungeon DLCs this year - again - in Q1 and Q3 which is the most lazy approach to fill the quarterly DLCs with content.

Don't get me wrong, there is still the "JUICY E3 ANNOUNCEMENT" Rich was talking about and the Q4 DLC but besides that... is nothing. Elsweyr offers us a (beautiful) new zone, a brand new class and a lot of QOL fixes / updates (that cannot be regarded as features or selling points). That's it. What will we get next year? Just one skill line and nothing else?

Honestly, as much as I liked the "new content cadence" and their Chapter approach after Morrowind, up to now it has been a major disappointment when it comes to developing / evolving the game (besides just adding new zones / quests).

What's your opinion on that topic?

As it looks now, 2019 will be the year ESO got the least amount of new stuff or features overall, the only year we might have gotten less was 2014, ESO's launch year - is that how to celebrate your 5th anniversary?

I guess we didn't watch the same live twitter feed because the one I watched they said that they would have more features to Elsweyr at E3. You might want to think or even wait before passing judgement.

Lol but E3 is june 10th and the chapter comes out june 4th...

I care for chapter only, not interest and no pay for upgrade in any dlc dungeon.

    For new feature
I need more inventory / bank space, "glyph, jew, weapon bag" ... and
some bag for monster trophy or unique item collection that separate from inventory space.

To the OP's statementb is the rrason why im not getting. If the comsumer is silly enough to fall for this marketing practiceb well good on zos's marketing team.

Im not getting it as when i returned, right up until summerset... No major issue has been resolved.
Dlc are getting less and less, just more recycled mechanics.
    Summerset itself was a joke.
It has become the worse running/performing mmo ive played. They will NOT get my money for this... What ever the third chapter is

Sorry. I agree. That's a pretty small Chapter.

It is because only two of your points are Chapter features. The rest isn't a major selling point, wasn't in Morrowind and wasn't in Summerset and won't be in Elsweyr. Maybe, maybe we can count the trial, too, but every Chapter offered a trial so nothing new here either.

I'd rather have a forum full of people like OP than people like you because at least the people complaining have something to complain about. You're just complaining about people complaining.
Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 11 years. 8 paid expansions. 29 dungeon and zone DLCs. 45 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. Just because Cadwell Silver&Gold failed doesn't mean the game should be brain dead easy forever.

Dungeon DLCs are the worst and shouldn't be even called DLCs at all. Next year we get one Chapter and three dungeon DLCs.

Apparently some of the Elsweyr main story is going to be locked behind a dungeon

No, it's the voiced concern of a customer that compares the price for a product and realises that for the same money less service is provided. But not only that but additional services are required to fully use one feature of the main product.

Nah. This is a value judgement, it's not objective.

To me, Summerset is a skill line that is nothing but one of the most tedious and horrible grinds in the game and another lazy magicka-only one-room mini trial. The only new thing in Summerset that did anything for me was Jewelrycrafting.

So for me, Elsweyr bringing a new class and a new full-length Trial is far more valuable than Summerset was because I'll get much more out of it.

We now has an major feature. Lots of players would love the race. Min-maxers would also use it.
Q3 it get an small nerf to bring it in line.

Besides that, yeah. I cry everywhere that we should get some new character systems, like spellcrafting, secondary classes, new weapons like spears, etc, as we haven't had those since ... well, never, really. Constant aimless balance changes aside, our characters are the same they have been years ago.
ESO gets a tad wider every year, but remains as deep (or shallow) as ever.

Do you know how many Skyrim they've sold? I have it on my toaster, and my pager!

Now that the Q1 patch notes for Wrathstone have been released, we can take a much better look at the new content provided this year vs the previous few years' Q1 releases:

    X8qY0gP.jpg

A steady decrease of Q1 content is apparent when comparing the last few years.

Note while Homestead did not bring any new Dungeons, it was a unique release as it was considered a free quarterly update in its entirety.

While Q1 2018 was missing a new crafting system and additions to Cyrodiil gameplay, these features were made up for in later quarters that year as Q2 2018 brought Jewelcrafting and Q4 2018 brought Destructible Bridges and Milegates. Similarly, with regards to Cyrodiil gameplay, Q2 2019 is bringing Artifacts (power ups) to Cyrodiil.

That still already leaves 2019 short on several major feature categories: New Major Systems (on par with the Player Housing and Outfitting systems), New Furnishing Types, and New Crafting Systems. We're just getting started on 2019, but it is apparent even when just comparing each year's first quarter, 2019 is already falling far behind previous years in terms of overall content added.

The only major things yet to be revealed for this year is whatever they have planed for Q3 and Q4. They said as much in the Elsweyr preview.

Now, there's always the chance they realize 2019 is falling short compared to previous years and decide to add a major new feature to their road map, even escalating it in time for Elsweyr's release, but that would be a good thing.

Elsweyr will not in itself bring this, because the story is set over both the chapter and the rest of the year's DLC, meaning that you have to buy all of it to see the whole story.

I know. But surely there will be a storyline in the chapter itself. And this is, obviously, connected to the Season of the Dragon (Wyvern) line

ESO+ gives you access to DLC, not Chapters. If you want Elsweyr at launch, you will need to buy it separately.

However, after a about a year the Morrowind Chapter had its features broken apart and the zone became a DLC free with ESO+. So if you want to wait a year or so from launch, its possible that Elsweyr will also be included in ESO+.

It does. But what really has me concerned is this.

After seeing the area of Elsweyr for the chapter on the web:

Versus the actual area of Elsweyr:

I am very concerned. It seems we are only getting the Northern third of Elsweyr. It seems these "chapters" keep getting smaller and smaller for the money. And this Chapter is on average $10 more than Summerset was.

Too many people cherry pick argument points with subjects like this
    Elsweyr will bring:

    - A new map. Possibly bigger than Summerset.
    - A new trial. Bigger than Cloudrest, since every boss will have its own unique Hard Mode.
    - A new class. Better than a tiresome skill line.

    - A new battleground map.
    - A new separate campaign for IC.
    - A new Cyrodiil artifact system.
    - A new batch of houses.

Sorry. I agree. That's a pretty small Chapter.

Just to be clear, the OP was making a direct comparison of the chapters. Under that logic, the new BG needs to be omitted as that is obtained at the base price of the game.

All 3 chapters have a large zone with a main quest line, world bosses, delves, public dungeons and a trial. Why anyone thinks elsweyr is going to be a larger zone than vvardenfell or summerset is beyond me to be frank.

Lore and class flavor are entirely subjective.

The plain and simple draw here, when you actually isolate everything you are getting for the price of the chapter, ie Not IC separtion drom cyrodil or the artifact weapons wich are base game features and not monetized...

    Morrowind
Large quest zone (eso+ after 1yr
New class (crown store purchase after 1 yr)
Pve trial (eso+ after 1 yr)
Battle grounds (base game after 1 yr)

    Summerset
    Large quest zone
    New skill line
    Pve trial
    Jewelry crafting

    Elsweyr
    Large quest zone
    New class
Pve trial (apparently a more fleshed out robust location vs being a small arena)

Im fairly certian summerset features will be baked into eso plus and the crown store just the same as was done with morrowind.

Unless the world boss system is a major revision with its own feature set mechanic, the new trial is actually a legit "raid" location vs what we have been given with HoF and CR, this is objectively less for the same price players have paid in the past.

Frankly i personally dont care. The cost is paltry enough in my book and my life is not so bad off that this is the sort of hill i would die on or worth giving an effort it "sticking it to the man" for taking advantage of the small guy, or any other corporate nonsense. Its hardly an injustice but it is obnoxious.

    You're completely right.

Many have the misconception there are more unannounced features for Elswyr coming due to ZOS mentioning more big reveals at this year's E3. That was in reference to what's coming during this year's third and fourth quarters, not more stuff for Elsweyr.

To make it more clear, E3 this year is June 11-13. Elsweyr will be available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on June 4, 2019, with PC/Mac early access starting May 20. That's not even including whenever it might be made available for testing on PTS. There's no way they can announce anything big and new for Elsweyr at this year's E3 when it will have already been out for a while. No, the only big news coming would be for the later quarterly releases of this year.
