    Elsweyr will bring:

    - A new map. Possibly bigger than Summerset.
    - A new trial. Bigger than Cloudrest, since every boss will have its own unique Hard Mode.
    - A new class. Better than a tiresome skill line.
    - A new lore. Better than the boring Altmer entitlement.
    - A new worldboss event type. Better than killing slimy sloads
    - A new story. Longer than Summerset one since it will last a year.
    - A new battleground map.
    - A new separate campaign for IC.
    - A new Cyrodiil artifact system.
    - A new batch of houses.

Sorry. I agree. That's a pretty small Chapter.

It is because only two of your points are Chapter features. The rest isn't a major selling point, wasn't in Morrowind and wasn't in Summerset and won't be in Elsweyr. Maybe, maybe we can count the trial, too, but every Chapter offered a trial so nothing new here either.
Agree its a bit thin, granted its probably some minor stuff who has not been mentioned, we also get plenty of QoL stuff.

Please don't get me wrong, I love most of the QoL improvements, especially the guild trader UI and the changes to IC. Those changes still do not qualify for being a "feature" whatsoever, they're just improvements that should have been made years ago.

They said the same last year and there was basically no exciting feature past Jewelrycrafting and Psijik Order (which both were advertised as the main selling points of the Chapter) in the whole year.

Sure they have (E3 announcement mentioned), but for separate price tag or at best as free feature (as Housing and Outfit systems were), but it don't have any connection to the this chapter and it's price.

In fact they sell hype this year, and less features, that not that bad for the game overall. Sadly that's not both.

Housing was NOT a free feature. I keep hearing that and it's a misleading marketing trick. It just paved the road for much bigger cash cows.

Yes, you can buy some houses with gold. You can craft some common items yourself, buy some rare purple items in the guild stores (for a lot of gold!), or roll your own. Technically, you can have some nice modest homes for free.

But that's where this story ends. EVERYTHING else, from DLC houses, special houses, all the little parts, thousands of furniture items, special animated items - are extremely high priced, cash only stuff. It's so outrageous that ONE house can cost 85-130 EUR or more, without providing anything extra. It's beyond ridiculous.

So no, apart from gambling boxes that are optional, I consider the housing in ESO the biggest ripoff of all. Houses should be part of the environment, setting, lore or role-play. They shouldn't be hidden behind the massive pay wall. And subscribers should have those store-only furniture items available for free.

for me on the "everyone gets something" aspect, 2018 was very grim:
    - q1: dungeons i didnt care for
    - q2: chapter, had to pay extra
    - q3: more dungeons i didnt care for
    - q4: free (very good) dlc as a logon reward

dlc-wise it feels to me like i got exactly _nothing_ for my sub (craftbag still bae, i know). gonna be hard to top that.

I'm interested to see more on the chapter before I make any judgement on this, but I am worried this is the case. Really feels like since they are going with the triple threat of player requests: Dragons, Elswyr and Necromancy that people will be hyped for that and willing to overlook the rest.

Elswyr "looks" smaller than SS - like it's about the size of a normal zone from base game or a bit smaller, so already I'm a bit worried and hoping I'm just wrong from the bad look we got at the map on the stream. Some are saying it's bigger, so I'll be interested to get a better look. I will say, how the zone feels will be the telling factor, not how zos excuse makers measure map pixels.

We are getting Necromancers, which is more than the psijiic line, and same as Warden as for what it adds.

And so far I've seen nothing to equal what BGs or JC added (though I guess they think dropping an artifact in cyrodiil might be the addition - but that is just not to the scale of what BGs or JC added IMO. Just a good change, much like making IC it's own campaign. So no, the folks saying adding artifacts to PvP is equal to BGs or JC are way off base.

The trial is more HoF, Maw sized instead of mini, so that is bigger than what SS offfered us with CR.

Dragons are not something I'd count as a new feature, but it looks like it may just be the Elswyr version of anchors or geysers and then also trial bosses (and maybe a main quest boss or something) - so essentially just a new enemy type added to game like Sload. Not really a new "feature". Just a natural part of creating the zone and story.

So unless something else is being added they haven't covered yet, it does indeed feel a bit smaller when you look at all the combined features added together. Or, arguably, smaller than MW, but about the same as SS or close to it.

BUT, let's not forget MW was a first attempt at selling chapters, so we could also say they threw some extra work to make sure it went great. It does seems like Els is about equal to SS, even if both offer a little less than MW here or there. So it does seem, at least to me personally, that they are still offering enough value for the cost, but hopefully this is the minimum for what a chapter will be as time goes on and they maintain what they are able to do.

None of this focuses on quality though, which is a big factor as well. So if the zone, story, lore, trial, etc. all feel like they are better quality (Mirkmire felt really solid for a small DLC for example with what it added) - then that means a lot for value as well.

People like you just love to comppain about everything, don't they? You forget all the FREE several quality of life changes and bonus things like the new battleground coming around the time of Elsweyr as well. But of course... No matter what they do, it will never be enough.

As you said, that are FREE quality of life changes. No features, no content. If bug fixing and trying to solve performance problems now is a thing that has to be advertised and additionally paid your bar for content or features is very low.

I complain where complaining is due and with Elsweyr it's the case, especially with that heavy price tag.

How can you complain when you don't have all the information on what is going into Elsweyr, you are just complaining for the sake of complaining with no information to back it up since not all information has been revealed.

It's pretty safe to assume that everything that's coming with Elsweyr is listed in the crownstore detailing the normal vs collector edition differences, it worked that way for both Morrowind and Summerset.

I'm sure that ZOS will probably reveal additional information for Q3 and Q4 DLC at the E3, but just like Murkmire and Wolfhunter aren't considered part of the Summerset chapter, those 2 DLC are not considered part of Elsweyr.

Base game additions, bug fixes and general QoL stuff is nice and appreciated, but we also had those in the past years and they were also not part of a chapter, you could still have a house or retrait gear without owning Morrowind, you could still transmog your gear style without Summerset, etc.

Every chapter has a new zone, quests, trial, motifs, etc. The things that set Elsweyr apart are Necromancer and ''Dragons'', and if ''Dragons'' end up being just Dolmens 3.0 it would objectively be the weakest chapter content wise.

... but still costs as much as Morrowind did back at launch.

I mean how is this reasonable pricing?

Morrowind brought us two major features:

    - New Class: Warden
    - New PvP Mode: Battlegrounds

Summerset brought us one and a half new major features:

    - New Skill line: Psijik Order
    - New profession: Jewelrycrafting

Elsweyr will bring us one major feature:

    - New Class: Necromancer

Every year since they introduced the "Chapter format" each Chapter was smaller and contained less features than the previous one. As much as I love the things they showed us about Necromancer (and Elsweyr!) it's just one new class. Besides that there is nothing gameplay-changing or worth mentioning. I do not count something like UI overhaul as a new feature, it's not. If we take this into account Morrowind and Summerset still would have offered a lot more.

The entire Elsweyr Chapter is advertised with NECROMANCER and DRAGONS (that are basically no feature, were Sloads a feature? No...). That's it. On top of that we get two dungeon DLCs this year - again - in Q1 and Q3 which is the most lazy approach to fill the quarterly DLCs with content.

Don't get me wrong, there is still the "JUICY E3 ANNOUNCEMENT" Rich was talking about and the Q4 DLC but besides that... is nothing. Elsweyr offers us a (beautiful) new zone, a brand new class and a lot of QOL fixes / updates (that cannot be regarded as features or selling points). That's it. What will we get next year? Just one skill line and nothing else?

Honestly, as much as I liked the "new content cadence" and their Chapter approach after Morrowind, up to now it has been a major disappointment when it comes to developing / evolving the game (besides just adding new zones / quests).

What's your opinion on that topic?

As it looks now, 2019 will be the year ESO got the least amount of new stuff or features overall, the only year we might have gotten less was 2014, ESO's launch year - is that how to celebrate your 5th anniversary?

You are absolutely right in my opinion and I think everybody who is expecting that there is more new stuff coming because they haven't revealed everything, will be disappointed because I strongly believe there is nothing really major coming anymore.

So you are saying that Zenimax Online is going to pull a Fallout 76? Charging full price for way less content? I don't believe so. No way Bethesda publishing can allow this again. They are not that stupid. Or I should say Zenimax Online is not that stupid to let Bethesda publishing do that.

And if this is indeed the case, then wait a year and this will all be free anyways with ESO+ or just don't buy it like the other 8 million who didn't buy Fallout 76. I for one will not be buying anything else for Fallout after what happened. Zenimax knows, people are not going to take it anymore. Those days are gone.
