Good - I ran a metric s****load of dungeons with a variety of people - PUGs, guildies and some friends who I hadn’t been in game with for too long. Had fun. Burnt my way through some DLC stuff, which really surprised me. I look back at my first go at BC1 earlier this year and the difference is awesome. Made me want to do more fungeons now this is over.

Meh - reward boxes were just rancid, nothing to write home about.

Bad - it’s like the little kid who constantly misbehaves, I’m not angry with ZOS, I’m just really, really disappointed. I mean how much more contempt do you want to show your customers than offering rewards to use a system that is so totally broken? The knock on effect being that many people couldn’t get reward boxes on 3 of the days. You end up feeling like they just don’t give a monkey’s and zero thought or effort went into this event.

Bad - having my l45 character ported into DLC content I’ve never done simply because I naively have an ESO+ sub to support the game I enjoy playing.

Maybe next year, instead of giving you a single box per toon, they could give you a single box per dungeon per day. That way FG would only pay out once a day. Then the Port FG would be like your joker card - use it on RoM or CoS, but not on less demanding content.

I never encountered any of the problems that most people on these forums claim to have encountered outside of the GF bug on the first day. From my experience, the event went well. I did not encounter any more/less elite jerks than I typically encounter and I use GF all the time. The 3 tickets were nice since I got to play catch up, considering I missed the Halloween event. Only disappointment was no xp buff, since I am still grinding out a few characters as I transition from console to PC. However the xmas event will last for like three weeks, so that is more than plenty of time.

    Loathed it.

Doing PUGs with guildies was fine because if one of us got the crown we could actually kick those FG1 exploiters. Still didn't prevent the fake roles and PvP'ers from making things more of a nuisance though. "Look! It's a 2H/Bow tank with 13k health who couldn't be assed to slot a taunt."

The fake tanks really got my goat this time, as a 810 healer I mostly don't need a tank but a lot of people do. Instead of leaving as I would normally I left the fake to get on with it (mostly dead on the floor) and kept the others alive, then i whispered the rest of the group to see how they felt and kicked the fake just before the last boss telling him or her why before I posted the kick vote. Now I know some will say I was being a d... but lower level players are in normals to learn and if Im going to play with them I should be prepared to go at their pace and accept killing stuff is going to take a lot longer, their gear is going to be a long way from end game and they will die a lot. If you cant play that way have the good grace to not join a normal and defiantly don't fake.

I ran with all my toons only for two days, and then did a couple of runs per day for the rest of the time, mostly with premade groups, so it wasn't that time consuming. I also got to play with all my toons which was nice, because although my alts are geared etc., I don't play with all of them to the same degree. I got some unknown motifs and the bone dragon pet that I coveted in the rewards, so no complains here.

Mixed and bad are essentially the same experience, since anything less than good marks a failure by ZOS.

They need to do better by their players. Will they? Guess we'll see next year.

Avoided it because according to some forum members quotes I’d apparently be a β€œlowbie or skill-less person who can’t kill anything or is always dead.”

Ah Reistr, never lose sight of the fact that the forums are:

    a) Only people's opinions

    b) Probably only 15% of the people who actually play ESO.

You missed out and I can guarantee if you'd ended up in a normal group with our guildies, you would have had fun. We looted containers, ran mules, carried dual wield 15k tanks, healed ourselves and had some laughs. Ok we didn't laugh at the group finder, that wasn't funny at all.

If they actually wrote that, then those people who made those statements are brain dead.
Sadly they did in a different thread:
Do you know how tiring it is to get into a group in a long dungeon with a bunch of lowbies or skill-less people and painfully try to go through it? Or even worse, get stuck in a DLC dungeon where mechanics matter...or on my tank where all the dps die? Sometimes I ran with 3 people I knew wanted the same quick answer to this event. Sometimes I didn't and tried to queue on my own...and it's awful. I only have 7 toons, but don't have time to go through DLC dungeons with people who can't kill anything or who are always dead. Imagine those trying to do that on more. I don't have 15 hours to go through that.

But you had to complain about a good thing.

At least if ZOS listens to the whiners about this, then next time don't make people sign up for the random daily.

I definitely did not like the event at all. Normally I love running dungeons, but having to run all of my characters through them was a tedious chore. The problems with the dungeon finder really didn't help, either.

I got my event tickets and duo'd 5 of the 6 easy dungeons for the first time ever! That was fun, besides the frustrating WS1 final boss that aggro'd on me the entire fight. Still, I didn't die in that boss fight.

Having heard about issues with the DF and not being interested or feeling ready to PUG other harder dungeons, or feeling that the mystery reward boxes weren't of much value I skipped that part of the event.

I consider myself to have pretty high moral/ethical values so I'm not sure how I would have reacted to joining a PUG and finding the other 2 wanted to port to an easy dungeon for the reward boxes or a desire to speed run. On the one hand I feel it's a bit of a cheat/cheese but then if ZOS doesn't care, well, it is a just a game. I probably would have just ported with them.

I ended up just soloing FG1 every day to get my tickets, then hit the cap so I stopped (got my time to sub 3 minutes, haha). I probably ran 8-9 group finder dungeons, but each was a chore for one reason or another. Seems the only time I got a smooth queue experience would be when I would end up in vet Moonhunter or something similar with a fake tank and a DPS spamming light attacks, so it never went well. Also ended up being ported into the final boss on several occasions, which is always frustrating.

All in all, the event was a bust. Broken group finder, toxic people abusing an exploit (FG1), and stupid low drop rates on anything people actually wanted.

I ran 1 pug during the event. It went as well as it could have. I was only queued for a few seconds, we cleared the dungeon and got our rewards. Three of us were there long enough for quest turn in. The entire run took about 15 minutes. The only problem for me was not buying my feather first.

I did 3 dungeons solo for enough tickets for my fourth feather. Those boxes don't have anything that I find worth running a pug for.

The dungeon finder issues totally ruined it for me. Missed 3 days all together due to the issues, rewards I can see being good to some but knowing every motif meant I didn’t really get much from them.

If the grouping tool worked then this event would be my favourite but really annoyed me, 3specially since we have the same issue every year they try and do an event that uses group finder,

Enjoyed it, my PUGS were actually better than the PUGS I usually get on normal dailies. Was cool to see lower level toons in them also, and they handled themselves quite well. I think this event got some of those who hadn't tried dungeons to take a stab at it. I had one group where all were below level 50 and I never died once.

Last year's event was better. I got collectibles that were actually useful. Like the Dark Shaman costume.

This year, after opening 188 boxes on PC/NA (across multiple accounts), all I got in terms of collectibles were a few pets that I would never use. I got a TON of dungeon motifs... that I already know because I had farmed them when they first came out.

That's the problem with this year's event vs. last year's... last year, it was a good opportunity to earn rewards that are otherwise unobtainable in-game. This year, virtually everything I got was something that I had already acquired in-game.

If not for the 4 pages of DLC group dungeon motifs I've got, I would have called it terrible. But so it made just to bad.

Dungeon Finder fiasco right at the start goes without any words. Everybody who has been playing the game and using the DF could predict it. Looks like ZoS doesn't know much about it's own game.
PuGs were even more annoying than usually. Before that, I could jump in as a DD and at least carry about 60%-70% of the group. At least either tank or healer were good. This time, I could get a bad tank and bad healer, and deaths were common. And if queued in as a healer instead, the two DDs were often so bad every boss took about at least 15 minutes to drop.

It was fine. Not great, but ok. I had anticipated all of the queue bugs and issues, no surprises there. I had also expected an unscheduled maintenance downtime, so I wasn’t thrown off by that.

I didn’t get any big rewards, but I hadn’t expected to. I wasn’t able to complete dungeons with all eligible toons every day because of the queue bugs, but I was able to get 1-2 reward boxes per day, which is fine.

I ran three characters through dungeons every day of the event, and other than headaches with the Dungeon Finder on Friday/Saturday my experience was largely positive. I didn't run into a single problem group -- no one porting to FG1, nobody being rude or combative in chat, no vote kicks of any kind, etc. In fact, out of the 18 runs, only once did I feel like I had carried anybody by the time we finished; it genuinely felt like everyone was doing their part as best they could.

The rewards were underwhelming compared to what I had hoped for, but knowing I have poor luck in general, my expectations were well tempered.

I never successfully formed a group using the GF tool although I didn’t waste too much time trying after the first couple of days. I did get one set of tickets when we had enough for a premade group.

I wish ZoS would learn that even if these things work on their test rigs they have almost infallibly crashed under the loading of however many of us play this game every time they run an event and in the case of GF also when BGs landed. Lessons need to be learned - either prepare to support the load or tweak the event to not depend on something unreliable (or in scarce supply for things like CWC).

    Awful for me this year.
I just had a run of bad luck with the PUGs I got.
Plus, I couldn't even get into a dungeon at all on EU on the first day of the event. Dungeon finder didn't even work.
It was so awful that I stopped doing dungeons the second I got enough tickets to get my indrik on the 13th, when New Life Festival starts.

    Good:
    A lot of fun groups.

Catching up on some DLC pets I had skipped over.

    Bad:
Getting yelled at IN ALL CAPS TO NOT SUCK YOU DON'T SUCK RIGHT YOU BETTER NOT SUCK when coming in as a DLC replacement. Was your 'hi' button stuck? Could you catch me up just a little bit? I mean, I can do the content but I'd rather take the penalty than manage an *** who needs to chill out.

Speaking of ***, people trying to sabotage runs after the group refused to port from short easy non-DLC dungeon to FG1. I mean, thanks for aggro'ing literally anything you could find and then dying and then rage quitting. That at least solved half the problem.

Never saw a Frostbane pet. I mean, it's entirely likely they'll be put in the Crown Store eventually like the Imperial Horse and Dog were, but still. There's only so much Scalecaller Swords, Bloodforge Bows, Scalecaller Swords, Bloodforge Bows, Scalecaller Swords, Bloodforge Bows one can tolerate before it feels like some divine math-based entity just doesn't want you to have a pony.

I had no issues with DF on any days. Got into every dungeon within 2 mins, and only had 2 DLC runs. I pretty much just ran healers and tanks, so if the someone declined bug started I just left queue and got into another group within 2 mins. Issue what issue.

Rewards were so so, but who cares they're free anyways. Would have loved a mount or house but got 2 frostbane pets and the wolfhunter spec edition dog.

If anything though, after a few days of running all my toons I cut back to only my main ones (2-3) as I got tired of doing them all night. Picked up a number of open world achievements and almost completed caldwell's silver which I may not have done otherwise.

Nb: never experienced any of the player port to FG1 issue so was it really that common.
