Maintenance for the week of April 6:

Really...why does it take 6 months to fully leveling riding?

Seriously...even just leveling speed takes 2 months and speed and stamina 4 months...which are important in PvP...NOTHING in this game takes that amount of time...you can literally fully level a character in hours...why the hell would they make riding take 6 months?!?! Sorry, just leveling riding on my newly made character and i'm just disgusted with how they try to push people to buy overpriced riding lessons in their store...[removed comment]

    Because people buy riding lessons.

I will admit to being fully satisfied with buying 30 of the Speed riding lessons when I brought my Stam Warden into PVP to play with my organized raid. That saved me 30 days of falling behind my raid with their max speed mounts, getting ganked because I was last, having to catch up and being forever behind.

Its probably the most hours of enjoyment I've gotten out of a non-DLC crown purchase.

LIsten...you spent roughly $30 for 1/2 of what max speed is...it is still another $30 to get it to full speed...and that is without any stamina to sustain....that would cost you another $60....and you feel good about this purchase? You think that is a fair price, huh?

Sigh. I suppose I set myself up to have my spending decisions questioned, but insults? Lets keep this civil, please.

    But since you asked...

I already had 25ish mount speed on that character. So I basically finished out the speed, so I could keep up with my PVP raid. I did stamina the slow way, since stam was less important since I could just hold the sprint button to run fast. Yeah, it was squishy for a while, but I could get up so I wasnt alone and getting ganked while I tried to catch up to my raid.

And I had a bunch of crowns sitting from the time I bought them on sale. It was worth it to me to not spend a month being frustrated.

You would make a different choice, which is totally fine. I was impatient, and willing to pay to avoid frustration.

They want you playing the game for a long time. If you got everything you wanted quickly youd get bored and drop it a few months in.

sorry...i apologize...but they are selling that crap for ridiculous prices...and they continue to do it because people pay them these ridiculous prices...there is allot of value with this game...but in contrast their crown store is a complete joke for what they ask people to pay for what you get...i just wish everyone would get it together and stop buying any of that junk...it just makes no sense that you pay $30 for a complete game that includes thousands of things that come with it but yet people will pay $5, $10, $20 or more for one outfit or a few weapon skins that you have tons and tons of choices that already come for no extra cost with the game.

yeah...its fine for any normal travel...you don't even really need a horse and you can move around just fine...its PvP where the problem is...and if you have 0 into speed and the other guys have 60 and you all are using rapid maneuvers...

9 trait crafting on every thing takes a little over a year if you are very diligent.

But yeah, in terms of stuff you use everyday, mount training is an outlier.

Actually its been this way since before the crown store was a thing. It used to be way more tough. Imagine leveling each mount individually.

The way they have it now is much improved.

yeah...crafting does take time...but you have options with that...you can train certain things you want most....you can hire other crafters to make stuff...you can buy from guild traders...you can level different things on different characters...you have lots of viable options with that.

Mount speed leveling is one of those little encouragements to log in every day. I agree that it's very tedious... I've done it on over 20 characters!@!# It should be account wide imo.

One of many things that stops me from ever making a new char. I usually love making many characters on games, but this game is a massive grind. That amount of time just to be able to ride a horse that doesn't feel sluggish is pathetic. And yes rapids exists, I'm not going to waste a combat slot on my bar for it.

lol...and you really think that? ...content...daily prizes...enjoyable things are what make people log in everyday...they do this to make money by overcharging riding lessons in the overpriced crown store...that is why they do it...lets just say you have 12 characters...that takes at least 20 minutes if you want to spend the time to train all 12 characters in riding...you think that type of thing is what people like and they keep coming back to? That is what makes people play this game? You think that is what ZOS wants is for people to log in and train riding? Ok...you sure do have things figured out.

Honestly, outside of PvP, once you get 30 speed on your mount, everything else can take its time. I'm almost done leveling riding fully on my stam warden. He is still level 30. I'm going to be making a stamplar as soon as I figure out a name for them. And then I'll train riding on them as well. I've done it on every character and I've never paid for a riding lesson (though I'm not unhappy when I get one in the free crates). As others have said, get Rapid Maneuvres as soon as you are level 10 and that will help a lot with speed.

Well, 7 really. You don't know about this until after you start playing.

You don't have to buy lessons from the Crown Store!
You could choose to buy Crown Crates and hope that the lessons drop...

Crown store has riding lessons available to speed them up. We also tend to get a few free each month via the free crown crates.

OP asked and that is the answer.

Fully lvling a mount used to take 1/3 the current time but we could only lvl up 1/3 what we can now.

I'm sure Cyrodil will still be around in 4 months when you max speed and stamina on the horsie. You probably don't care much about the bag space, for PVP so the last 2 months aren't really urgent.

Pretty sure, full 9 trait research takes longer than that. Fully researching the 8th and 9th traits for blacksmithing and clothier takes a little under 10 months as I recall.

I still argue that the saner choice is each *mount* is trained account-wide.

Example: I own the Christmas horse and the Psijic horse. I spend the next month upgrading speed on the Christmas horse. The Christmas horse now has 30 speed for EVERY character but the Psijic horse does not.

When The game launched different horses were stronger and had different perks; some were faster, some carried more, some had better stamina. I don’t see why we can’t go back to that and train the horses individually versus each character individually.
