Back when the game was new and Vet mobs would destroy you if you Leroy'ed in w/ no clear strategy. Planning every encounter, developing awareness on which npc to take out first, which npc to stun, and which groups to avoid. Learning what skills to use and how to build your character in order to survive these encounters. Having to master your class. The constant danger while you're out questing. Pre-nerf Doshia. Named NPC's dropping from Dolmens, who had the power to wipe entire groups if they didn't know what they were doing. World bosses who were deadly back then. Getting killed my mud crabs. Those were the days
The final boss(es) from the Orsinium story. No spoilers, but after everything you went through and the growing feelings of doubt you get, it felt sooooo satisfying to put them down. A little sad, too.
Valkyn Skoria, long ago when it was difficult. That boss taught me a lot about awareness in combat, about shielding in time, managing resources and knowing when to drop ulti
PvE fights only give me anger in process and relief when they are over. No matter that some PvE fights have interesting mechanics or nice visuals, no PvE fight ever gave me excitement and joy as some PvP fights. Those fights stay in my memory, but I really wish I could record them back then to experience everything again and never forget a single detail... :'( They all happened long time ago, and I still remember most of those precious moments
1) When my magplar "heal bot" was fighting a magsorc near Alessia Farm. After few minutes, when he realized this fight will last forever or might ever end for him if he doesn't have enough stamina to break free again, he streaked away in the wilderness, and I stayed looking at his trail like "Thanks for visiting my house, please come again!"
2) I was on my magplar again. I rode to enemy resource not expecting anything, some random ally - stamdk - arrived there too. We were carelessly aggroing all guards on our way to the flag... It was really a surprise to discover two enemy players waiting for us there - magplar and stamblade. It was long hot fight where we had hard time fighting both guards and enemy players. Both me and enemy templar were "heal bots", our damage was low. After few minutes of insane struggle me and my ally managed to finally kill all the guard horde. I was so glad - finally we could have nice fair 2 vs 2 fight to see whose healer heals better and whose dd damages better! But our enemies were not as brave and noble as I imagined When they saw they have no guards to cover them, enemy NB instantly cloaked away, and templar run away to hide behind the tree. So otherwise great fight ended up dirty - NB was hunted down and killed, then the tree didn't save the templar. It made me really angry - good fair fights are extremely rare, and they ruined it
3) me and few random allies left Sejanus and were on the way to take Brindle, when few wild reds arrived. I would ignore them, but they started attacking my allies - I can't ignore that. I joined the fight, not expecting anything really - not grouped, no idea what other players are up to... It turned out to be very long nice fight Our numbers were fair - 4 vs 4. They had 3 tanks though, while we had 1 warden tank Their dd was magnb, I was on my stamplar. All the CCs everywhere, the ground was painted red with all the Earthgores proccing... After ~10 minutes our enemies finally died one by one. I really wish the fight lasted forever, because it was truly great!
I’ve been trying to do Imperial City on my Imperial. Whenever another player attacks me while I’m doing the quest I just stand there. I never have more than 200 Tel Var on me anyway because I’m not farming. I don’t like to give gankers the satisfaction of desperate flailing. If they’re looking for 1v1 to feel leet they found the wrong dude.
