Alliance war ranks, do they cost too much AP?

Yes, 65million AP for GO2 is ridiculas
I don't think I will ever get 5 stars. That's a lot of time. A lot, a lot, a lot of time. Like "I am sitting in PVP for 8 hours minimum" per day. @.@ And I am 4 grades away from general.

It is a lot of time and many of us have achieved it.

You know, I have immense respect for those in the PvE community who spend countless hours honing the skills and their build and learning the intricacies of each and every trial and dungeon. I know how difficult that is and I know how much work that takes to be good at it. I would never dream of demeaning those achievements and I would NEVER ask to make those dungeons easy enough for someone like me to breeze through.

It really bothers me on a lot of levels to hear the PvE community devalue and demean the work and resultant skill put forth by the majority of us in the PvP community. There is a LOT that goes into it, and no one walks into Cyrodil instantly "good". It takes practice to read a map and learn how to anticipate movement. It takes skill to learn how to gauge a battle and whether or not it's worth sticking around rather than dipping out to go do something else that might strategically cut the offensive group off and help turn the tide of battle. It takes hours of playing to gain that instinctual muscle memory that helps you to respond instantly to a perceived threat. Our builds take hours and hours to carefully craft to be able to stay alive while 10-60 people are all beating the crap out of us, while still doing damage and maintaining fluid, fast movement.

It is not easy to be good at PvP, and cheaters/exploiters notwithstanding (we hate those trashcans as much as you guys), it is not easy to rank to GO.

Isn’t this the truth? When the game was first released, it was tough to earn AP. We worked our butts off for it. I have a 5 Star I earned before double ap events. I earned this rank by not doing trials or many dungeons. I don’t complain they are too difficult, I know they are and respect pve players. I have worked and worked and worked on my character. I also work. I made choices.

It is irritating to me when the pve community wants to devalue my rank and the work I have done so they can get achievements. Do you know how many 5 stars there are now? Way too many. Too many players who have no clue what they are doing.

I have also played the game for over 24 hours straight. End game achievements should be tough!

Absolutely! I work full-time+ and have an active social life, a boyfriend, and a regular gym schedule, but I still have found the time to get myself to Legate on a healer. When I finally get those stars, I'm going to be super proud because I'll have earned it, rather than cheesing [read: zerging] it or demanding that they lower the bar to suit me (any more than they already have). It wouldn't be worth it if I didn't have to work so hard for it. The sense of accomplishment is what gives the achievement any value.

I'd love to have that pretty Dro-Mathra skin, but I know I'm nowhere near ready to run vMaw in any capacity, and I refuse to buy a run or be carried, because there is no value in that. When I've gotten my 5 stars, I'll start learning how to heal trials, starting from the bottom until I have the skill needed to get that skin the right way. I'd rather wait than have some empty achievement handed to me.

The way they hand out AP now, 65 million is nothing.
*looks at balance of 350k, obtained in 6 hours of play

I'd have to agree with this statement.

      350k : 6 = 58k per hour
You can easily do 100k+ per hour during the event

      No.
If everyone was a GO2 it wouldnt mean anything... althought it already means nothing since 99% of them are sh't at the game and got it from zerging since day 1

It's just a time invested metric, nothing more. Some people reach their personal skill cap early on.

New Alliance Ranks based on BG wins? Maybe Nobility type ones, since military ranks are already pretty robust. Though yes Homestead added some of those too

I’m not bagging you or anything but how did you get legate on a healer without Zerging lol? Now I run a Magdk in PvP and I got the massive healer achievement REAL quick mostly healing myself I’m sure.

No offense taken! I play in a small-ish highly coordinated group, and have since the moment I stepped foot into Cyrodil. They showed me how to read the map to anticipate movement and how to maximize my time in PvP, so even when soloing, I'm almost always a step ahead of where the AP is. I also keep nearly 100% uptime on my Blessing of War, for the 20% AP gain. Healers also get AP when someone they've healed gets a kill, as well as our own kills (which I get a fair amount of), so as long as I'm not standing there in block mode spamming BoL, I'm racking in tons of AP. We have a 5-star healer in my group who got there by playing smart and knowing how to work the battles. It's all about putting in the time and playing smart. Zerging can get you AP, but you ultimately lose AP doing it that way because higher numbers means lower gain after the split.

This isn't to say that I don't often end up at the same places as the zerg, just due to field dynamics, but the zerg doesn't propel me to my destinations. The map does.
